As one friend put it to me awhile ago pearls before swine. This is how I would describe I Liq Chuan. This internal martial art is what I feel embodies the secrets of martial power and strength. It is unlike any other martial art I have experienced and I have experienced a lot ranging from combatives to aikido, to jujutsu to judo. This martial art helps one to focus on whats going on inside you: proper mental state, structure, balance, relaxation and much, much more. The curriculum is simple, but has so much depth to it. Its fantastic for health and self-defense. Sifu Ashe Higgs is a talented instructor and friend who I find to be very, very skilled, patient and generous with his knowledge. He is one of the best I Liq Chuan instructors in the system and is a personal disciple of Sam Chin, another fantastic teacher. If you want to experience a martial art that goes beyond kata and accumulating techniques, that expands your mind and martial abilities this art is one to explore.
It was a great introduction to self defense but ended up being something I couldn't afford.
Brad is an amazing coach. Very supportive and encouraging. I always thought running wasn't for me and I could not do it. He showed me I was wrong. I have done 5K runs and look forward to many more. I have also taken his self defense class, which was awesome. I came away with knowledge and the feeling I could protect myself if I had to. I would take another class of his in a heartbeat. Lindsay is a wonderful teacher and very good with the kids. I noticed her being very firm, but gentle at the same time. I appreciate that she reminds the kids the importance of learning to defend self and to take it seriously , as kids can often forget. Lindsay is very likable as a person and my sister enjoys the class. Absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone especially for your kids
I've been training in knife at Reality Defense for about 6 months now. I have past martial arts experience including 3 years of weapons. I've learned more in the last 6 months at Reality Defense than I have during all my time doing martial arts. I recommend this system to anybody from your average Joe with zero experience to your seasoned martial artist. What they teach you is real and very simple. If want to know how to stop a violent attacker then this is the place to go.
This course is extremely informative and useful. Although I am female, and this course is most helpful to females, it is also full of tips, tricks and strategies men can use as well. The physical portion is easily adapted to the learners abilities, existing skill and knowledge level and does not require strength or previous martial arts experience. The moves are easy for anyone to learn and to utilize regardless of size or strength or skill level. Sensei is very good at teaching this information and very good at identifying strengths and weaknesses and helping the student overcome the weaknesses to better deliver the self defense moves. I have had previous martial arts instruction and feel that this instructor is very suited to that role and also very knowledgeable about the subject matter.
