How much does it cost to hire a bartender for a private party?

Hiring a bartender for a private party typically costs between $270 and $390 in total. On an hourly basis, expect to pay at least $40 to $60 per hour, as well as a flat fee. How much you’ll pay, however, depends on the time of year or day, the size of the party and other factors. Get in touch with a few bartenders near you and request a free estimate — it’s the only way to get an accurate idea of how much private bartending services will cost you.

Do bartenders need to be licensed?

Certain counties, cities and states may require licensing. Check your local government’s regulations before starting your search.

In many cases, you might want to choose a bartender who has a license and/or certification. If you’re considering hiring a bartender for an upcoming event or a special occasional, check their online profiles to find out what credentials they have. If you can’t find the information online, don’t hesitate to ask them directly when requesting to receive free estimates.

How do I find a good bartender?

Put some time on your calendar to research and compare top-rated bartenders near you online. Start by looking at their ratings and services. For example, some bartending services will provide a waitstaff, glassware, ice, coolers, food and more.

Next, look at their photos of past events and read the customer reviews. Find feedback on the bartenders’ services. Did they offer fair pricing? Did they show up on time to set up? Did they bring all of the appropriate drinks, cups, supplies and decorations? Did they interact politely with the party guests and provide a pleasant overall experience? And did they do the agreed-upon cleanup afterward?

Narrow down your top choices, and start contacting the bartenders. Ask for cost estimates for your event, and tell them how many people will be attending, what type of event it is and what services you require. You should also ask them questions about their experience.

Bartenders may need a license in your state, county or city to work at a private party. Make sure they’re properly certified before you hire anyone.

How much should you tip wedding bartenders?

Sometimes, a gratuity is included in your final bill. If not, consider tipping your wedding bartenders between 10% and 15%. However, this is not a set-in-stone rule. You can always tip more, perhaps 20%-25%, for great service.

What do bartenders cost for a wedding?

It costs roughly between $270 and $390 to hire a bartender. However, if you need a wedding bartender, you should request cost estimates from bartenders near you. Depending on the drinks you plan to serve, the number of guests and other factors, your total cost will vary.

Amanda did a FANTASTIC job as the bartender for my husband's birthday party. She was so helpful, extremely professional, friendly, and priced below value, (in my opinion). We plan on using her as our go-to bartender, for all future events.

James was a bartender at our party last weekend. He did an outstanding job. He was reasonably priced, listened to our needs, arrived early to set up, and stayed later than we initially asked without hesitation. He was polite, well-dressed, professional, and respectful. He made fantastic drinks and was very attentive to all of our guests. After the party people commented that James was a great bartender and they were pleased with the service that he had provided at our party. We will definitely be calling him again soon.

James was amazing to work with. I needed a bartender very last minute for our wedding and within a week James was able to be booked for our wedding. He was great with our guests and made sure everyone was able to get a drink they wanted. His drink list was spot on with what to get. Thank you again James for making this happen!

Worst Experience! Do Not Use This Company!!! I met with Dorrenda in July regarding bartending for my wedding. By the end of the initial meeting, she informed us that she could also accommodate our catering and ceremony/reception setup/clean up needs as well. We were thrilled to have found one vendor to handle everything! We paid our deposit of $529 which it states on the invoice is non-refundable. In September, I called her to go over details and wanted to add appetizers, napkins, drink ware, and a couple of table cloths. She told me she would call me back in 20 minutes. After not hearing from her for a week, I called again and she said she would call me back in about an hour. Never heard back from her, so I sent her an email. She responded stating that it was best to set an appointment for a phone call. Which I did for the following day. I called her at our appointment time and there was no answer. I called back 10 minutes later and she wasn’t available. Her assistant provided the cost of the few additional items we were requesting and I asked that they send their Certificate of Insurance and Business License to the venue as it is a requirement. I didn’t feel confident after the call and scheduled an in person meeting with Dorrenda the following weekend. We went to her office and went through all of the additional items and I asked again for her to send the required documents to the venue as they had not received them yet. A couple of days later, we received the revised invoice from her which included an additional charge for setup and cleanup. When I questioned it as it is listed on our original invoice, she stated that we had never discussed setup and cleanup of the ceremony and reception and that the $300 charge on the original invoice was for catering setup. Additionally, the venue still had not received the required documents. So with only three weeks before our wedding we were forced to find a new bartender, caterer, and setup/cleanup staff. When I requested my deposit back, I was told that it’s non-refundable. Even though she added additional costs and didn’t provide the required information to the venue (she stated that she emailed it, but the venue never received it and the venue manager even called to tell Dorrenda this). We still have not received our deposit back. We are absolutely disgusted by this whole situation!
