I'm Livia of Italian Tutor Inc., and I'm an online Italian tutor with years of experience teaching Italian to a wide range of clients, including professionals, artists, diplomats, and graduate and undergraduate students, as well as children. I taught upper-division intercultural communications in a state-run university, and I have a dual graduate degree in literature and communications. Livia is truly a professional, fun, and her Italian is impeccable, coupled with an exceptional level of knowledge for the English language, she is a recipe for success. She helped me to prepare for a three week vacation to Italy and her tutoring helped to make the trip one of a lifetime. She gave me confidence in my ability to communicate socially, to get around Italy, dos/don'ts, and help my father during an emergency situation. Her approach is very effective and after the third conversation, we were speaking primarily in Italian. During our conversations she used real life experiences, provided information about Italy, and determined areas of focus, tailoring each lesson accordingly to my needs. She is very patient and a stickler for detail, but provides feedback in a very positive way. Over the course of four months of working with Livia prior to the trip, my Italian grew exponentially with an extensive vocabulary (over 1500 words), ability to know the core verb conjugations/uses, and core sentence construct. During my trip in August, I was put to the test and understood a majority of conversations with the ability to communicate back effectively. She helped me to check off a life long "bucket list" item and she makes learning so enjoyable that I have continued my learning post the trip to Italy. I would strongly recommend Livia for anyone wanting to learn Italian and my continued patronage is a true testament.

Livia is an excellent teacher! She is spirited and generous. We worked together once a week for about 6 weeks to improve my rusty "street Italian". I had never studied formally, had not studied grammar for example. I've just been to Italy many times and was about to embark on a 9 week visit. Livia has an amazing ear and can even discern subtle errors in pronunciation via Skype. Her lessons are challenging and productive; her explanations for why we are proceeding in a particular manner are clear and reasoned. She follows up each session with an email of vocabulary pertinent to that session and new materials to study. Shes good with technology and patient in assisting in diagnosing difficulties when there are any. She was great about helping me listen to extract content even though I didn't understand all that was being said. Her last words to me before my journey were, "remember you don't need to speak Italian perfectly to communicate perfectly." Now that I am here in Italy, I'm doing better than I ever have in the past. I recommend Livia without reservation. She has earned my highest respect as a teacher and person. Again, many thanks. Karen

Learning Italian with Livia has been one of the best experiences of my life! My parents gave me 2 weeks of sessions as a gift before my graduation trip to Italy. After that two weeks with Livia, I could understand more Italian than I would have ever believed, and I felt pretty comfortable getting my ideas across, too. It was so exciting to be able to speak to the locals as soon as my plane landed in Rome. Livia really helped me work with my strengths and find ways around my challenge spots to get the best out of me. She's encouraging, positive, and professional but gets you to really work, think and apply yourself. Thanks to her, when I was in Italy, I made friends and had awesome experiences that happened only because I felt so comfortable with Italian. I love learning Italian with Livia so much, we still meet once a week for conversation over a year after my first trip to Italy.
