In fact allot of the big movers hand off smaller jobs to us that they don't want to deal with but that's exactly what WE do.     They lost 2 parts to very expensive equipment. They put the equipment back together wrong 3 x's. They just seemed very inexperienced. I should've used a previous moving company. They were friendly and maybe this move was just too much for them.

    Wrong! Your review is off base, Dawn. Because, we spoke at length about your pilates tables and whether we would be the ones disassembling and reassembling them or you would be doing that so you could save money. You eventually came to the decision that you would be the one doing it, TO SAVE MONEY. I said fine, however, I told you whenever someone takes whatever types of equipment apart and then expects us to put it back together, there can be issues because we didn't take it apart to begin with. That's common sense. We obviously don't have the knowledge of how everything goes back together that the person taking it apart does and don't know where hardware is or if it's missing. This seems to be the case in your move. You took everything apart to save time thus money but then expected us to reassemble it in a timely manner as if we took if apart (yelling at my guys - btw). Then if parts were actually missing you blamed it on us, which was not true because the guys actually eventually got it back together to your satisfaction. We actually spent nearly 2 hours additional time on your job that we didn't get paid for. The guys did everything in their power to get the job finished which they did however 2 hours late because you wanted to disassemble equipment then not reassemble it against our agreement. On your move we didn't lack experience and I assure you the move wasn't too much for us. It was your dishonesty when setting up the job that caused the issue. My head guy has been with me for 12 years and the others for over 3 each and are highly experienced top end movers! That said, Dawn, after all the extra effort and extra time put in at your job, which you never paid for, this is how you reward us with a lousy review!

    Very detail oriented and careful...they even noticed that a spring on the dryer had popped loose during the move, so he spread blankets down and opened up the back of the dryer, and fixed it on the spot. Very happy that they care.

    Excellent Moving Company!!!
    After filling out my request for a mover on Thumbtack I immediately received a quote from Darryn and he was very professional and quick to respond. I needed a sectional moved in the next few days and he was able to schedule the move for the very next day. He took the time to figure out a way to get both of our schedules to work and I was very pleased with the service! His moving crew was on time and very friendly and EXTREMELY careful when moving the sectional. They took great care in making sure the sectional never touched the ground or hit a wall. I HIGHLY recommend this company, especially for smaller jobs. I will definitely hire again if I need anything else moved. Great job!

    Excellent cost effective movers!
    I called Small Move Specialists to move a bedroom set out of my second floor bedroom and the owner was very professional and knowledgeable and the price quote was great compared to several other companies I called. When they arrived they were polite and very good at what they did being very careful and wrapping everything. They moved a very heavy dresser down the stairs like it was nothing!     I am not one that usually dedicates time to submit a review. I am definitely not someone who seeks out the company to write one either, except today. I had some moving that I wanted to do that involved a sofa, 2 fridges, 2 washers, 2 dryers and a patio furniture set (stone top - yes, very heavy), where the appliances going in and coming out of total 3 houses and patio furniture being returned to big box store. My friend recommended this company purely based on reviews online and the fact that they specialize in small moves and that they are insured. I contacted Darryn about a week ago with an estimate in mind of what I would pay for the whole move. He was the first I called and after discussing the plan, he quoted me $60 cheaper than my estimate. I scheduled yesterday to be the day for the move and it was completed without any problems. Darryn gave me a 30 minutes heads up and we met at the first location. He said he owns and has been operating the company for 16 years now and always been the small company that it is now. He was very professional in his dealings. The skill set and knowledge was visible right away. They covered up the appliances as required and transported it to the locations specified. Washers and Dryers came down from the second floor via stairs and went back up to the second floor via stairs. Everything was done to complete satisfaction. The whole move was completed in about 3 hours. I highly recommend this company and they earned a happy customer that will recommend them in the future with no hesitation.

    I called Small Move Specialists to move a piano, refrigerator, sofa, 2 queen sized beds and a table (the stuff we couldn’t move ourselves). The owner, Darryn and his crew arrived at my house on time on the day of the appointment. They were polite and professional and explained up front the plan for moving everything which I appreciated and put my mind at ease. They didn’t waste any time and got right to work. There was a section of my house (hallway) with some tight angles between the living room and the front door that I thought was going to be really tricky getting my over sized sofa through but they did it like it was nothing without so much as a scratch. You could tell these guys knew what they were doing. They treated my property with care and delivered it flawlessly. The service was excellent and everything went according to plan. Price was reasonable and less than others I had called. I highly recommend Small Move Specialists and won’t hesitate to refer. Dan, Mesa AZ

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Moving jobs are not standard, every job is different and has it's own unique needs. So, we typically give a unique flat rate quote custom fit to each job so each customer gets the most cost effective price quote possible! However, in some situations an hourly rate is more appropriate so that's what we will go with.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The customer contacts us, we ask a series of questions to determine the time it will take out of our day to complete the move and based on that we typically give a flat rate quote. If the quote is acceptable we schedule the move. You relax and we do all the work. Simple!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
18 years experience moving everything under the sun!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Started out delivering furniture from stores and it evolved into the full service moving company we are today.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find a mover that caters to your moving needs. For instance if you only need to move a sofa & loveseat 4 miles up the road, you don't call a cross country mover like Mayflower. Also, don't take the absolute lowest bid just because they are the lowest. In many cases these types of companies are fly by night, not legitimate, not insured, not accountable, amateurs. No matter how polished their profile might look, bad things can happen. Legitimate moving companies have a certain cost of doing business and will not be able to charge these abnormally low rates.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
For the smaller type moves that we do the customer should have a pretty exact list of the items needing to be moved. Pickup and delivery cross streets, any stairs, any access issues and any other details you think would effect the move. The more specific you are the more accurate the quote will be. Remember, the quote we have given you is based on the information you have given us.
