FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education for seamstresses is very difficult and very important. The way I gain more knowledge of my trade is by participating in relevant online forums with peers in sewing manufacturing where we contribute ideas and share wisdom from past work. One of my future goals is to create a technical sewing school where all topics of sewing manufacturing will be taught.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to be a seamstress working for myself after many years working in various sewing application jobs to better serve the many small businesses needing flexible help during busy seasons. I float around to help out and work when and wherever sewing work is needed. Keeps me entertained, broadens my experience and gives me a lot of great stories and contacts.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
For alterations work the most common task I do for clients is pant alterations, waist and hem. For other small businesses the common task I do is build small runs of product that get sold on their line.
