My 8 year old daughter started piano lessons at age 5. I wanted her to enjoy learning and not view it as work. Julie Ann is such a great instructor she was able to read my daughters personality and, in turn, tailor her teaching to my daughters natural pace. She doesn't push or force students to perform -- she engages them and makes them feel confident in their learning. Julie Ann keeps us informed on progress, learning strategies and helps us understand how to help our daughter continue learning during home practice times. I reccommend Scottsdale Studio of Music to students of all ages who are interested in learning an instrument.

I met Luciana a year and a half ago, and I am so happy for that. We've been taking cello lessons during this time, and I loved all of them. I really appreciate her attention for all minimal details that influence in my final cello performance, such as body posture, hands, arms and shoulders position, and obviously, sound quality. I have been practicing cello for 5 years, and during this time I had 4 cello teachers. Without any doubt, Luciana is my favorite. With a PhD in cello performance completed at ASU, everyone can imagine how amazing she plays cello and how professional she is. She challenges us a lot to perform everything perfect, and even what at a first glance looks easy, becomes something to be mastered with time. She uses different cello methods to improve our techniques, and eventually, beautiful cello concerts to have a overall view of our advance. Luciana has a pleasant studio close to ASU at Tempe city where we can have the cello lessons, and practice together. I really recommend her for all those interested in learn or improve in this amazing instrument. Thank you.

I take piano lessons from Chris and I highly recommend him. Chris is an extremely talented pianist and a great teacher. He is very flexible in finding material that the student will enjoy playing while still suiting the music to the students skill level and is able to isolate techniques. One thing I particularly enjoy about my lessons is that Chris does a great job of doing more than just helping me learning to play a song. He helps apply techniques of good piano playing to the pieces I am working on and explains how those techniques will affect the sound of the piece so it can be more emotional and entertaining. Now that I have been doing lessons with Chris for a while, we have started to adjust the structure of the lesson to add activities in our lessons that are geared toward my interests like music theory work or help strengthen some of my weaknesses like sight reading. Above all, Chris is an extremely kind person who genuinely cares about his students, their progress, and that they are enjoying both their lessons and learning the instrument as a whole.

Wesley Skinner is a respectable and patient teacher with my children. He works as well with young children as he does with his older students. He turns it into a game for my youngest and makes it so fun and enjoyable—all while guiding me along so I know how to practice with my children at home. I highly recommend Wesley as a cello teacher!

Jennifer has been incredibly helpful in my growth as a musician. Not only is she so knowledable in her craft, but she makes you feel comfortable and willing to make mistakes and really focus on the art. She is very responsive to any questions or concerns I have, and is also punctual and focused during our lessons. She really cares about each of her students. I have seen my own personal improvement with the cello, which, in my opinion is such an incredibly beautiful instrument. I highly recommend Jennifer to anyone, of any age, who is interested in learning the cello.

How hard is it to learn to play the cello?

Taking cello lessons can be a rewarding experience for students young and old. The rich sound of the cello is well-loved in classical music and is found in all genres of contemporary music from modern folk to rock. As with any instrument, how hard it is to learn to play cello depends on the practice and dedication you put into it. It’s true that some people are naturally more adept at learning instruments than others, but with lessons and a daily commitment, you too can learn to play the cello.

Cello lessons can be a smart investment, especially for new players. Even professional cellists benefit greatly from ongoing training, but for those new to cello it’s especially important for forming a strong foundation for playing. From the proper posture to understanding finger positions, regular cello lessons give you a benchmark to measure your daily practice against. With a professional cello teacher guiding you, the sky’s the limit.

      How much are cello lessons?

Cello lessons are a great way to anchor and guide your cello practice, regardless of your skill level. The cost of cello lessons will vary, depending on the reputation and experience of your teacher, the length and frequency of your lessons, and where you live.
