Ana treated "Gracie" with kindness and exhibited very professional and tender loving care while giving "Gracie" her summer grooming. She bathed and trimmed "Gracie's" fur perfectly to our expectations. It is easy for me to recommend her service to other pet owners

We have 2 dogs and a cat who needed care while we were out of town for a wedding. Our cat needs two medications, twice daily once being an insulin shot and the other being an oral medication. After speaking with Rachael we chose AZ Mama Bear Pet Care because they have experience with administering those types of medications. They did a great job. The pets seemed happy and well taken care of. We even got photos sent to us while we were away. We will definitely call them again if we need a pet sitter.

Leslie has helped our family for over six years, even on short notice, if she can't come personally, she will send someone reliable from the rescue to fill in. We have seen the work she does with nursing care from the injured animals and with our own pets that clearly demonstrates her devotion and love of animals. Her costs are very reasonable, but if she charged triple what she does, we'd still look to her before someone else. Leslie can groom horses, dogs and cats. She'll even take the time to dematt a cat rather than shamefully shaving a long haired cat. She is patient and non stress causing to fractious and older pets. She shows up when expected to and takes excellent care of pets. We have no complaints for improvements.

Sue was outstanding! Sue visited prior to pet sitting to meet the cats and familiarize herself with their routine. During our trip, she sent us numerous status updates via text. She was easy to get ahold throughout the entire process. We will definitely use her again!

I have an elderly dog (14 yr old Aussie Shep/Border Collie mix) and I needed a mobile groomer because traveling in my SUV is just too stressful and difficult for my dog now. I requested quotes for mobile groomers on Thumbtack and Natural Pet Mobile Groomers were the only ones to reply. Based on that I was willing to take my chances and boy am I glad I did! They were pretty busy but managed to get us scheduled for a Saturday just a week and half out. I was told they would arrive between 8:00-8:30am and they were on time! They sent two groomers (a dynamic sister duo) and they were awesome. They gently lifted my boy into their van and got to work. A couple of hours later, they rang my bell and had my beautiful boy at their side looking so handsome and proud of himself. He smells so clean and his fur is so soft. He looks like a puppy again! When they realized he hadn't eaten the treat they gave him, they brought it up to the house to make sure that he got it because they wanted him to know he was a good boy and that getting groomed ends with a reward. Thank you so much Lisa and Hailey and Natural Pet Mobile Groomers! We'll see you in a few months.

We used Bee Professional Pet Services for the first time and we were not disappointed!! The Services are fairly priced and highly personalized. She even has a 25 minute Dog walk for a cheeper price when adding to daily visits. Brin is also highly trained; her skills were showing as soon as she entered our home. We have 2 pitbull mixes and 3 cats. We've received daily check-in messages and pictures. Brin also left us with a daily logged notebook and folder that stays witg us for next time. Every special request was made! She even showed up 10 minutes early! I highly recommend Bee Professional Pet Services

I've used Two Dogs Dancing for overnight stays at my home with my pack of very boisterous corgis, Pom and rat terrier and one horse. We have an older corgi with a brain tumor and are not comfortable leaving him unattended for extended periods of time. This summer we scheduled a 10 day over seas vacation. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that all our pets would be well care for. We received daily updates and pictures. All our pets were properly pampered while we were gone including our horse, who doesn't understand why I don't provide the yummy carrots like Mary does. Our dogs are over joyed when they see Mary and Brandy outside of pet sitting. Our home was clean and in great condition when we returned and we were pleasantly surprised by a plate of freshly baked cookies.

I first went to Woof & Fluff around 7-8 years ago. My older dog Angel never cared for groomers. She would behave for them but couldn't wait to leave. Her first time with Melody grooming her I had to drag her out. She was excited to see me but then turned around and went back and laid down. I have never gone to anyone else. I have been taking my little Chihuahua mix to her for around 4 years. He loves Melody and her standard poodle Ella. I also have to carry him out as he wants to stay and play with Ella. Is hard to find someone this good to take such good care of you pet. Melody is such a sweet loving person. I highly recommend her and always tag her on post's for people looking for a groomer. When you find the best why go somewhere else. Give her a try today and you won't regret it.

She'said been grooming our golden doodle every 5 weeks for over the past two years. She's gotten our pooch cleaner than any other grooming he's ever had. The style she does is so cute and his fur is incredibly soft as she says she doesn't even use conditioner. She is very resonable with no unexpected extra fees. She also house sits for us from time to time, also very reasonaby priced and always goes above and beyond her duties. I would recommend this company that supports this rescue to anyone.

It is with pleasure that I offer this recommendation for Julie Daly and her pet sitting service. I was in (desperate) need of someone who is dependable, compassionate, and gentle, and also someone who could provide the extra attention needed for a dog that struggles with separation anxiety. Julie came to my rescue and I consider myself very lucky to have found her. Although I have known Julie for only a few months, she has lovingly watched my anxiety-ridden boy multiple times a week so I could run daily errands, go to dinner or a movie with friends and travel out-of-town to be with my gravely ill father. She is a godsend. Her easy manner was a good match for my nervous Beagle and it is such a relief to know someone so caring and calm is with him. Since meeting Julie, I have peace of mind whenever I leave whether it is for a few hours or for two weeks. Julie is a wonderful individual who conducts herself in a friendly and professional manner. She is trustworthy and very generous of her time and most importantly, gentle with my anxious dog. I can tell she genuinely enjoys taking care of animals and feels deeply responsible for their well-being. I appreciate that Julie takes the time to let my dog warm up to her and I love seeing how well he responds to her. Although it's always difficult to leave our pets, knowing that Julie will be taking care of my boy gives me piece of mind. It is without hesitation that I highly recommend Julie to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter who is kind, trustworthy, responsible and compassionate.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

What vaccines do dogs need to be groomed?

It’s important to make sure your dog is up to date on its vaccines before taking it to a groomer. Vaccinations keep your dog and the other dogs that use the establishment healthy. Viruses can linger long after a dog is gone, so an unvaccinated dog can infect a number of other dogs days or even months after their visit. Find out about your dog groomer’s vaccination policies, and think carefully about receiving services from a company that does not require vaccinations. Here are the main vaccinations that are generally required for dog grooming:

  • Parvovirus: Parvo is a nasty virus that can kill dogs within 48-72 hours of infection. The virus is incredibly persistent and, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, is resistant to heat, cold, humidity and drying. It’s spread by dog-to-dog contact or contact with contaminated feces, environments (food and water bowls, collars and leashes, etc.,) or people.
  • Adenovirus 2: Dogs receive this vaccination to protect against canine infectious hepatitis. The vaccination can also helps prevent canine cough.
  • Canine distemper virus: Distemper has no known cure and can cause serious pain, illness, and even death, although recovery is possible with medical intervention.
  • Rabies: This disease attacks the central nervous system and — when untreated — will
  • lead to death. The CDC recommends euthanizing an unvaccinated animal that has been exposed to rabies, although six-month isolation followed by vaccination is also permissible.
  • Para-influenza: Canine para-influenza leads to kennel cough and an unhappy dog.
