Sasha with Body & Soul Food did a fabulous job with my personal cooking class in my kitchen. I set this class up as a date with my girl friend and she enjoyed it very much. Sasha was very well prepared and it was such a joy having her demonstrated and instructing us on the dishes we made. Our class was schedule around lunch time so we enjoyed the dishes as our lunch. It was such a perfect date. Good food and fun. I highly recommend this experience to people wanting to do something different as a date. Sasha is the one to call to make it happen.

Anna is wonderful! Some last minute changes for a surprise Graduation Party made her services a must! She responded quickly to my requests, was very creative in our request for "elevated College Kid foods" and arrived prepared and on time. She handled all the catering so I could actually enjoy the party and guests, and her creations received RAVE reviews! I highly recommend Anna and will be using her again!

Jennifer was everything I hoped for and more than I expected!! I hired her to conduct a family cooking class for Mother's Day. She was able to accommodate my last-minute request and tailored the meal to our preferences. She is professional, patient (I have teenage brothers), and a very talented chef. She shared a lot of fun tips & tricks of the trade and because she brought all of the ingredients & tools we were able to pull off the perfect surprise! An awesome group activity where everybody participates--Hire her if you get the chance!!

Chef Mattox was my instructor at culinary school and i had asked him to cook for me and my boyfriend for our 3 year anniversary. We got amazing food made right in front of us, and a special drink. He also gave us a cooking lesson. He talked and joked with us and the 3 course meal was great. He even made fresh Gnocchi which is my boyfriends favorite. The evening was fantastic, and I wouldn't change a thing.

I took a private boot camp cooking class with Tiffani a few weeks ago. I can't say enough amazing things about her! She taught me so much in a short period of time and gave me lots of confidence to start cooking on my own. Tiffani is an outstanding cooking instructor!

My cooking class with Hasnah exceeded my expectations. She shed a whole new light on what it is to cook. This is my first time using thumbtack and I took a risk that was definitely worth it. Her knowledge of the kitchen and culinary world are extremely extensive. To be honest, I was intimidated at first but she relays the lesson in such a comfortable relatable environment that it felt like we were just two friends cooking and creating something together. The experience has made me want to explore my kitchen in ways I had never thought, and allowed me to narrow down and focus on what it is I am really interested in. So many things to learn! So many fun and creative culinary adventures to be had. Thank you so much. I left inspired and excited. :)

Normally, I wouldn't give 5 stars so easily, but Chef Tess is impressive not only as a chef, but in character as well. I took a rather large group of kids and a couple of adults to one of her cooking classes and was AMAZED at her ability to engage and control the group. Several of the children have ADHD, and yet with Stephanie's warmth, laughter and sincerity, that group was all hers. She was professional, canny, and witty, and we were laughing with her almost the entire time. The quality of the instruction as well as the food went above and beyond my expectations. As a lover and connoisseur of healthy and REAL food, Chef Tess is definitely gifted and ready to teach and impress.

I wanted to have some friends over for Dinner but did not want to do the cooking. Nutrition intuition saved the day! Amber made us roasted chicken and mashed chipotle sweet potatoes – it was all delicious. It was fun having her over and it felt like a friend in the kitchen as we talked about life and food while she prepped our dinner. We will definitely be hiring Amber again in the future, especially around the holidays!

I requested a vegan cooking class as a gift for several of my friends. Amber consolidated all the food restrictions and preferences of my guests and developed a fabulous menu. She came fully prepared and provided enough interaction to keep all the ladies busy and engaged. She and her assistant were a delight and quite knowledgeable. They cleaned up before they left, I would highly recommend Amber.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
