Introduction: I have been teaching for my entire adult life and have made a career of understanding and applying research based learning theory in my teaching. I am a classically trained musician and have a thorough knowledge of the best methods of teaching for enhancing students success. Having worked in music stores, I am also very knowledgeable about various musical instruments. In addition I offer an introductory lesson at no charge so potential students can see if we are a good fit. And finally I am a lot of fun and see having fun as an important component of learning.
I love to teach music and take pride in my ability to move students quickly by assessing individual learning styles and tailoring my teaching for each student. My goal is to have students leave each lesson with a new set of skills, always built on previous learning. I am extremely patient by nature, but always strive for excellence. I love solving problems and take joy in my students' progress.

This is the 3rd time I have taken guitar lessons. 3rd time is a charm. I have never met anyone like Betsy, my guitar teacher. She has patience, and explains things well. Less than a year, and I can read notes and play cords. I actually practice.

Elizabeth is providing great guidance on learning to play the Ukulele for myself and my neighbor who are total beginners. She is very patient and encouraging - just what we need. And she is able to accomodate time and location requests for the lessons. Thank you and great job, Elizabeth!

Betsy Vollmer is a great teacher! She's patient, makes learning fun, always seems able to break down the hard stuff into steps so I can keep moving forward. I can tell she's tailoring my lessons just to me, rather than just putting me through a cookie cutter book. She also frequently gives me extra time rather than just cut the lesson off if I'm right in the middle of learning something. She's got a great sense of humor and keeps me going even when it gets tough.

If I could give a rating higher than "Outstanding" I would. Elizabeth Vollmer is an excellent teacher and a very knowledgeable musician. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions with her.
