I needed a caterer for a work event and had five days notice. Tracy worked with me to develop a menu of salads for 13 staff members, listened to what I wanted and delivered beautiful individual salads on-time ( a few minutes early! : ) ). Our staff thoroughly enjoyed the entree size salads! Tracy was easy to work with and responsive - even responding to my text on Father's Day! She charged me what she quoted me. Hire Tracy and she will listen to you, cooking wonderful food that matches your specific needs!

I reached out to Angela for cooking lessons for a paleo(ish) diet. I just started to cook for the first time so I'm a total beginner in the kitchen. I found her to be incredibly knowledgeable, talented and encouraging . The steak recipe she taught is now my fiancé's favorite food! Her cooking lesson was exactly what I needed to ramp up my cooking skills and stick to a new diet. It was a great experience!

This was the best birthday ever, cooking with Karen citino. I asked for a Thai dinner and Karen delivered the cooking expertise and great teaching. And the best Thai food I’ve had. Karen organized the event, the food the different prep stations and cooking. It was fun to do this with karen and friends and me cooking a yummy birthday dinner. I would definitely recommend Karen as the chef for any kind of food you desire. She’s a professional and knows what she’s doing to make a great party or get together. I know you’ll be pleased. I am 100 %.

Marjorie Nawrocki was a personal chef in our home in Bend Oregon. She planned her meals carefully asking for feedback and bounced ideas off of us before planning the next week. Very pleasant and clean. Her meals are delicious and healthy. A huge concern for my husband and I. We 100 per cent would recommend Marjorie to anyone seeking a person in the food preparation field.

My company had Chef Robert and his team cater our luncheon of 16 people. The food was fantastic ,staff friendly and efflcient which made the event a great success. Steaks were cooked to order ,the sides were delicious and dessert was out of this world "cheese cake & chocolate cake" 😀. We will definitely have them out again for our next event !!

Hired as a Chef/ Cook. Everything was delicious and served well. Would have wanted more one on one interaction with him, but I understand things can get busy in the kitchen. Overall a good experience and would recommend.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
