Paula has made such a huge impact on our family. Our dog Blue was barking at people, barking at dogs, running away and generally didn't seem happy. Typically one of our kids would accidentally let him out and this created a cycle of anxiety, stress and embarrassment as we couldn't get him back. he ran around the neighborhood barking at people, barking at dogs and chasing cars, not to mention running from us as we frantically tried to get him back. This created a lot of stress in our busy family of six. We love our dog but didn't see how anyone could change him. Paula came in and she didn't just "train" our dog. She works with our dog of course, but also has been educating our entire family on how to play, teach, and interact with Blue. She has provided us with so much insight and has given us countless tools to use with Blue. We have been working with Paula for almost two months now and the changes we've seen in our dog are incredible. We now have ways to play with him, and interact with him that are changing his behaviors. It's truly like he is a changed dog. Paula is compassionate, caring and has been a true blessing to our dog and our entire family.

Could not have been more pleased with Becky and Charlotte! We met prior to going out of town and they were extremely thorough. I felt comfortable leaving for vacation knowing our dog Hermie was in good hands. Constant updates allowed to us to enjoy our time away. Thank you!

My dog, Eevee, is completely obident after the two week in board training. She still gets hyper/excited but as soon as I give her a command, she immediately listens now! I'm not having to fight with her, she walks close and along side of me, follows my lead. I tried other places and this place really works, worth every penny!

Angela did a wonderful job looking after our fur kids! We have one dog, two kitties and a foster kitty that she watched over. She walked our dog twice a day, played with the kitties and even brought our mail in! She will send you updates and pictures if you ask her to. I highly recommend her, she did a great job!

Very friendly, thorough, and professional. After a less than optimal experience on Thumbtack the last time I hired someone to watch my dog, Just Four Paws was exactly the service I was looking for. Slightly more costly than others, but worth the peace of mind to know your dog is in conscientious, professional hands.

Working with Alison Lee was a wonderful experience. I have two lrage puppies and one senior dog. She was patient and understood the situation with the dogs. She was never judgmental when I did not practice as I should have. The techniques are invaluable as I continue to work with the puppies. The puppies loved her! She was consistent and firm, but never mean. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to train a dog utlizing positive training techniques.

We are so glad we picked Jenny as our dog pet sitter! She took care of our dog for 4 days while we were traveling. She was very attentive and kind with our boy and was always sending pictures and messages. Which helped us to see how he was doing. One thing that really amazed us is that our dog was trained in portuguese and Jenny learned somethings just so he could understand her better! Our dog was very happy under Jenny's care and that's the most important part for us. We sure recommend her services.

Jessie is knowledgeable and reliable about walking dogs. She has some training experience. My dog is very leash reactive and I'm not totally comfortable letting him go with someone without my supervision. Jessie was willing to let me do that. For now, I've postponed dog walking, but not because of Walk'n Wag'n. They seem to be a reliable and professional company. I would recommend them.

Annie is like the dog whisperer! I have 3 fur babies and they all love her! She comes to my home to visit and let my puppies out to play when I am at work. Besides being trustworthy she is very knowledgable and is always making sure she is looking over your pet for signs of, well, anything. I highly recommend Annie and her bright and cheerful can do attitude. Annie has come to my aid at the drop of a hat ... can't say that about most folks these days but saved me big time! Oakley by the way is avery well behaved dog and a lover to boot! He is also nothing but kind to my dogs. A win win duet! SJ Luke

At the last minute I required a sitter for my special needs senior dog Xena. Alicia came over and immediately I knew we had found the right fit. Xena requires lots of potty breaks with the use of a sling which can often scare people and Alicia was happy to take on the challenge. I would recommend her to anyone!

George has taken care of our 2 dogs several times and we are so happy and thankful. We always know our dogs are in such good care with George. He spends time with the dogs and doesn't just run in to let them out or feed them and then leave. We very highly recommend George to care for your beloved pets!

My dog was at home alone while my wife and I were working throughout the day. Being at home for five hours at a time. I noticed she was getting bored and in need of extra attention maybe a walk during the middle of the day. I saw Jarod walking other dogs in my neighborhood and decided to look up the company. There rates are reasonable and service is excellent. They spend so much quality time with our dog while we are at work. We can really tell a difference in our dog since they have been seeing her. I would highly recommend Truly TLC if you are looking for a dog walker!!

Ellen has been so great! My pets liked her immediately and didn't even bark at her. She takes my dog to the park for walks and visits with my cats. She has never missed a visit and she goes above and beyond her duties. If there is an accident, she handles it. She feeds everyone and takes care of the litter and even leaves me a log of what she has done for the day. She took out my trash and brought in my mail while I was gone and she is very trustworthy. I hope to have a long pet sitting relationship with her and our family :)

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
