Mark is very professional and knowledgeable. He clearly knows music, but not all music people are good teachers. Mark is a great teacher. He has a specific plan and specific steps to learning guitar and I am learning things that build on each other. I have quickly expanded my knowledge of the fret board and I am gaining more confidence all the time. The thing that I like about Mark is that if I am having a hard time learning specific concepts or techniques, he doesn't let that stop us from moving forward in other areas. He keeps us moving and makes it interesting and fun. As a side note, I am 48 years old and I wanted to learn how to play the guitar since I was a kid. About three years ago I finally picked it up and started learning. I took some lessons and I tried to learn on my own. When I was trying to teach myself, I didn't have a concept of the steps that are involved in learning the guitar, so I would try to tackle a hodgepodge of things that ultimately didn't create any lasting skills. Mark breaks things down into bite size chunks. He is really patient, but at the same time he pushes me to learn specific things that I need to learn in order to get to the next level.

I am very satisfied with the guitar lessons that I have taken with Mark. I can play guitar, but I needed some focus and direction. The lesson material is tailored to my needs and I am happy with the progress. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mark to anyone.

When I had started the guitar lesson by Mark 4 years ago, I played rock-blues or kind of Jazz only by feeling with limited positions (most of amature guitarist would be so), I couldn't read score at all. I had a limited time for practice due to my business style and had a lot of travel. But because of his step-by-step practice, now, I can read score( I know I need more exercise), play most of scales at all positions with different mode, and I have a confident that I can play Jazz. Thank you Mark although I have to go back to Japan, but I will keep practicing what I had studied form Mark. Yoshi A

Mark is the guitar teacher for my 12 year old. He projects a very professional attitude, is likable and capable of achieving results. Within 1.5 years my son is has become well rounded musically and it is nice to hear him playing popular songs in the home. He has learned scales, improvising, reading (notes & jazz chords) and finger picking. I have successfully recommended Mark to several friends wishing to learn guitar.
