Marcel created a delicious menu based on my preferences to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to a hungry group of 15. Incredibly professional and friendly, he has a real passion for cooking. He got a round of applause from our group when he left and then we even brought him back last minute to cook an additional meal for us one day because enjoyed it so much. The food is fresh, healthy and flavorful. We will definitely work with him again.
Pam came over and provided us private instruction in our home on basic cooking skills. Pam did a great job. We will be hiring again this next weekend to help us with preparing for Thanksgiving since it will be our first time cooking everything ourselves. I would recommend Pam to anyone looking for cooking instruction.

I hired Haute Productions for a private cooking class for a bachelor party event, and we had the best time. Keith was an awesome teacher and host, he made the experience wonderful. I hired Laura to teach a series of cooking classes at the school where I am the Director. She is an amazing teacher along with being an incredible chef. My students were constantly asking when Chef Laura would be coming back. Laura came to each session, enthusiastic and ready to cook and teach. She is really creative, and was able to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables from our school garden! The lessons ranged from soups to sweet baked goods. My favorite cooking lesson included home made pasta with a delicious tomato sauce. I am looking forward to working with her again.
If you are in Redlands, CA for any reason you must absolutely visit the Cooking Block cooking school. We had such a fun time with friends we were visiting. They were very excited to take us there as they had attended many of the cooking classes offered before. We had not planned on doing an activity like this on our stay but are very glad that we did. We participated in a French cooking class that was paired with wines for each course. The instructor was very knowledgeable and an excellent chef. Not only were we treated to excellent food and wine, we actually learned a lot about the regions that they hailed from. We met the owner of this fine establishment. His name was John and he was very hand's on with the entire night. Probably one of the reasons it was such a great experience. He made us feel very welcome and was genuinely glad that we all came. It was very apparent why this business was so successful. Many of the other guests were return customers and could not say enough about how much fun these events were. This event was sold out. Thank you to our great friends and to Cooking Block for a most wonderful experience. Cheers and continued success and excellence!
His knowledge was amazing. He was able to breakdown, in an easy to understand way, the science, and the art of cooking. What was also great was that he didn't just teach recipes, he taught the different principles of cooking and because of that I can create great, delicious dishes from scratch, not matter what I have in the fridge. My mind was blown when we covered salads. I didn't know there was another side of salads that made it more enticing and more high class. (see picture below) Overall, Chef Know-It-All is an amazing, artful chef that has the ability to make others fall in love with cooking. He's patient, insightful, and heavily invested in the student's progress and success. Every question I had, he answered. And every hurdle I had, he helped me get over it. Oh and did I mention it was fun! He taught me some flair tricks that the professionals use to make cooking fancy. Now I'm flipping sauces, cooking with big fires, and sprinkling flourishes left and right! I simply can't enough. 5 out of 5 stars for me.
"I have been trying to get Ed Masciana to teach for ages so that I can take his classes. He is a marvelous cook (chef), teacher, who in addition to knowing Italian food and cooking techniques, has an extensive knowledge of other cuisines---American, French--and the chemistry of food/cooking. I was lucky enough to have Ed teach me the essentials of stock making---fish, chicken, beef and then, how to use the results to make marvelous (the best I ever had and not the usual tomato heavy) cioppino. This lesson taught me how incorporating home made stock elevated whatever soups, braises, etc I would attempt. He also showed me sautéing techniques, imparting a thoughtful approach to sautéing vegetables (and meat/fish as well) based on their density and structure. (I'm still learning, but this was an invaluable lesson.) Ed is a great teacher. He is easy to learn from. He's considerate, imparts skills naturally, with a good sense of humor, so one learns without feeling intimidated. As far as the "being on time" question, that does not even come into play. He's a real teacher with professional standards. He's there to teach when this is called for.
Vegan cooking has never been as fabulous as when Porsche is the one serving up cruelty free dishes. She makes healthy - usually soy free - meals for my boss Russell Simmons and myself on the regular. Our guests always leave our events raving about the taste and marveling at how satisfying it is without flesh and dairy. She is the best of the best!
I took 3 cooking classes with chef Karla in 2014 and they were all outanding. The 5 weeks Professional Pastry course were fantastic and very comprehensive. I have greatly improved my baking skills and have achieved consistent results from Chef Karla's good tips and correct techniques. The Appetizers and Truffles classes were also very good. Chef Karla is a very talented culinary and pastry chef. More importantly, she insures that all students have the hand-on experience and have fun while creating beautiful dishes.
Had my first at-home lesson today. Michelle is a kind, polite, well-humored chef who teaches well. The meal we prepared together was simply delicious. Didn't know I had it in me but Michelle did! Salivating in anticipation of my next cooking lesson with her next week.
Teresa took time to understand my needs and what I wanted to get out of my experience with her. She also spent a lot of time personalizing our day together and being thoughtful about how to schedule and plan it all out so that I got the most out of it. I learned a ton of tips since we went through the entire process, from picking out my ingredients through preparation. Teresa was willing to answer any question (no matter how silly) I had along the process and adjust to any changes I requested. Teresa is really knowledgable and experienced, as was evident throughout my time with her. I would 100%, no doubt, hire Teresa for many more cooking experiences/classes in the future. I definitely feel more confident in the kitchen after spending a day with her.
