FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is very complex, so I will try and explain. I operate on sliding scale of $5-$25 donations for my services. Donate the minimum or maximum per appointment - it is up to you. There are a lot of expensive luxuries in this world, your style shouldn't have to be one of them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly in the field and on the job learning. Education never stops and don's always exist in a classroom.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was an overweight kid who didn't want to pay for a gym membership, so I got a job at one. In time, I moved up to become a trainer. Some time later I also realized that my clients never felt good about how they looked [even though there were getting in shape]. The reason being - they still dressed like they were overweight. They did not know their new body type; even when they were overweight they didn't understand how to style their body type and shape. So, I went back to college for fashion. Seriously. No experience in style. No history of caring about style enough to go to college for it. And a funny thing happened...I was/am great at it. Turns out being a personal trainer first was the BEST thing I could have done to prepare for a fashion degree and for life as a stylist. Being a trainer helped me become a better teacher and mentor to anyone going through a struggle. The entire thing is a process: form reviewing your wardrobe, to deciding what best fit you, and finally getting a look together. And it isn't easy sometimes; it can be emotionally and physically draining, but in the end you will feel reborn.
