About

I give instructions in piano, guitar, drums, notation and dictation, music theory and music arranging from 4 to 5 piece band. Instrumental instructions for beginners include an inspirational starting phase, in which an easier technique is taught to allow student to be able to play simple tunes in just a couple of weeks. Then, the student is asked to choose between formal (with serious note-reading methods), non-formal with minimal notes, or straight chord-scale visual approach (no notes). In music theory, the student learns a more detailed study of the harmonic styles of the different musical era which usually begins from as far back as ancient Greek to present. For practical reasons, though, I just start from the Baroque Era to present. In Music Theory, the notation (note writing), and a certain level of tonal recognition are pre-requisites. In Arranging; notation, a certain level of tonal recognition, and a high level of Music theory will help greatly.

About

I've been teaching guitar and music theory since 1991 in almost all styles which include rock soloing and rhythm techniques, blues, beginning jazz as well as various finger style genres such as folk, classical and flamenco. I teach beginner to advance students. I often use the student's favorite songs to incorporate theory and technique. I am patient but thorough and always respectful and professional. I believe in trying to pass on my strong love of music alongside essential musical knowledge. To me, music is about joy, passion, meditation, healing and self expression. I've been hooked since the age of 8!
