We have had a problem shower since we moved into our then brand new construction house 9 years ago. We've had our builder out to "fix" it several times only to have the problem resurface. Once out of warranty, we had also had it serviced by someone from our insurance company while we rented it out for a few years and again by a plumber when we moved back in. The last plumber told us it wasn't a plumbing issue, but recaulked the shower enclosure for good measure. When Mike got here with his plumber he thoroughly investigated every possible water source in the wall at the pipes and finally determined that the drain had never been sealed properly in the first place causing water to leak into the foundation and then pool in the wall. He also scraped out all the old decayed grout/caulking and resealed it with mildew resistant silicone caulking. He was quick and efficient in investigating the source, solving the problem, putting everything back together, and cleaning up. A project I thought might take a week, was done in a day. Not only was he thorough, but I homeschool my four kids so his presence in our home was obviously an exciting, though expected slight distraction to our school day. Mike was great about letting the kids watch and explaining all the things he was doing to them during the process and explaining how stuff like math was important to what he does.

Michael has done prior work for me and his work was always top notch. That's why I asked him to do this latest project of screening in a porch the length of the back of my house both for me and as a cattery for my cats. Although I had done an initial design, his suggestions for materials and some changes to the design were right on. His quality of construction far surpassed my original conception and I am more than enthusiastic with the result. All is absolutely sturdy; neither dog nor cat nor people will mess with it! The wall of lattice at one end was already in place as a screen for Mojave Desert sun and wind, so we continued that lattice design along the rest of the porch bottom to protect the screen from the dogs, and Michael did a great job. It was Michael's idea to use galvanized steel for the screens as a protection against cat clawing (it works!), and it also turns out to block very little of the view (although the photos look like it cuts down the view, but it really doesn't). The photos are prior to my staining and painting, but show the beautiful workmanship. My cats went bananas in their new outside digs, and love the view from their 6' high walkway, er, runway, er sleeping perch. The porch used to be filled with debris from the wind so much that it was discouraging even to clean as stuff would be back in an hour; now it's been 3 or 4 weeks and still looks great - no leaves and debris! And so pleasant to be on the porch even when it is windy outside as the lattice and screens cut down the wind to a mere breeze. I've used screens for my vegetable beds - never realized how effective they really were to temper sun and wind! Great result! Absolutely love it!
