After completing my counters, I rehired Steve to complete the rest of my home remodel. I had him take out an entry into the garage, frame it shut. He took out a closet and made that the new entry. He than replaced two windows and put in a new window where he had to cut out stucco and do substantial frame work. I also had him take out a sliding glass door and frame the opening shut. I than had him remove the old siding and replace it with hardy board siding. Throughout this entire process, Steve has communicated any issues that come up in a professional manner and has given solutions and accommodations so that my pocket book wouldn't break. Steve's attention to detail has been amazing. I had him design and build a cabinet for a combo microwave oven unit, and was thoroughly happy with the finished product. He than installed my  kitchen hood and went through all of the electrical in my home. Steve has done an amazing job and I would highly recommend him for any of your needs.

I needed a spa removed to clear up space on my patio, and I needed it gone asap. G&G Maintenance was very responsive to all of my messages and patient as I was making a decision on the matter. As soon as I decided to hire them, Paul was able to come out within a couple of days and did a timely and EFFICIENT job hauling of my old spa and cleaning up the area. The cost was very reasonable for the job as well. I’m very pleased and would recommend to anyone!!

I am very happy with Whitestone and the window cleaning and painting services they provided me. They were very professional. I believe they went above and beyond to make a very stressfull painting situation less stressful by their kindness, patience and helpfulness. I would highly recommend them to anyone that was in need of any type of services that they give. Helen, Carlos and Luis were the ones that I had personal contact with and they were very polite and helpful. I appreciate their customer care and concern. I will use them again in the future because I believe they are a company with integrity. Everything they said they would do they fulfilled.

I'm going to have them back to do all the bedrooms. Gridiron Carpet Cleaning will be my only go to company for carpet cleaning!!!

First off, I met with Jeff and Jo and their concern for the detail of the job was beyond compare. Even after meeting with many contractors and shuffling through many bids their bid was just a bit higher but I was intrigued by their perfection, moreover me and exactly what I wanted. In this world of many painting contractors they weren't there for the money they were there to do artwork they were there to finish not only timely but with extras done on the job. I had mentioned in passing that I needed some extra caulking done in the bathroom that I was going to do it because I wanted to do it in a way that I wanted to do it. I also talked about cleaning the basement on this particular property , I also made mention about fixing a door jam and repairing a light, and to my absolute amazement and surprise Jeff and Jo had done everyone of these jobs! Often times when painting at home you are not sure what a new color is going to look like and it no charge did they paint and repaint two walls over! Lastly, my wife and I were unable to monitor and stay on this job because of our business and family commitments and not only was it done early but it was the cleanest job I've had done. My wife and I are buying another property and we are going to put it in the able and capable hands of Jeff and Jo Jones at Spectrum Painting, there are none better!

One of the best companies I have ever worked hired. Amazing pricing, punctual and went above and beyond the scope of work. He even cleaned an additional brick driveway and pressure washed the garage. The driveway had some really nasty oil stains and now they are 100% completely gone. After he was done cleaning the driveway he took the time to spray everything down and ensure I was satisfied with the work.

So I had Maidicure come and do a basic cleaning today in my 1300 sq ft house. There were 3 cleaning techs that came and they were here for almost 2.5 hours! I have 2 roommates and 3 bedrooms, and my one roommates bedroom was such a mess that she didn't even want them in her room. So three people spent 2.5 hours cleaning 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and foyer/hallway!! They were VERY detailed and thorough! My house was sparkling clean and smelled so good when they were done! Now, I did pick up all my throw rugs and washed those as well as cleaned the clutter off of my counters in the kitchen and bathroom and furniture, just so that they would not have to worry about dropping something or have something in their way, and I think this definitely helped as far as making sure everything got dusted and cleaned thoroughly. As my one roommate asked me, why are you cleaning before they come to clean the house? (This is same roommate that you can't even walk into her bedroom without stepping on something, and who did not have her room cleaned)! I just felt like it was my responsibility to clean up the clutter and wash the throw rugs before they arrived! (Because who wants to put a dirty rug back down on a clean floor???) The only thing I should have had them do was clean the ceiling fan blades...I don't know if that is included in the Basic Cleaning or not, but that was my fault for not asking them! I will definitely use them again, and probably splurge for the Super Cleaning, as I would love to have all of the trim, baseboards, doors, and walls wiped down in addition to whatever else is included. But I am a very happy and satisfied customer and will be using Maidicure in the future! Yes they are a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for!! Try them, you will Enjoy them! :-)

I was looking for a housekeeper for my daughter, who has special needs. Her house was a complete mess in every way possible. Embarrassingly so. Paul came in, looked around, smiled and said "It smells good in here" (she was burning a candle). He was professional and gracious, and worked hard to come to an agreement that works for me and my daughter. Having her apartment beautifully cleaned every week has given my daughter back some pride in herself. Yesterday she bought some throw pillows for her couch and is actually decorating. I am happy to recommend MaidPro because they have been nothing short of life-changing. Oh, and they leave a chocolate, a check-off list and the toilet paper folded like they do on a cruise. :) Thank you, MaidPro!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

  • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
  • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
  • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
  • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
  • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
  • Ductwork properly protected.
  • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much is commercial window cleaning?

The national average cost to clean windows is $120-$170. Typically, window washing for commercial spaces costs less per window than residential window washing, but has a higher overall price because the greater number of windows. Commercial window cleaning companies may charge a standard rate per window — for example, $3 to clean the exterior only, with a higher rate of $4 or $5 to also clean the interior. There may be an additional charge, such as an extra $1 per window, for scrubbing off water stains or deep-cleaning window tracks. Double-hung windows require more labor and will therefore cost more to clean. Companies may charge a flat rate, such as $8 per double-hung window or $9 per French door, to account for the added work. Building height will play a factor in window washing costs. Standard cleaning for one- and two-story buildings will typically stay within the same range, but cleaning high-rise windows may entail special safety permits and equipment, which would increase costs. Your location will also affect window washing costs. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost to do business will have lower window cleaning rates than large cities.
