Not only was Mr Lamb a outstanding music teacher he was a really great person with us and our children. Very patient and very responsive to both of them. A really great teacher, thank you clifford.
Note: This is only based on 1 interaction. Mindy taught my daughter's lesson for 1/2 hour. My daughter needed help with a school piece. Mindy patiently explained musical terms my daughter was unfamiliar with. Mindy asked my daughter questions that made her think. Mindy made sure my daughter was relaxed even when she made mistakes or couldn't answer a question. My daughter seemed to connect well with Mindy by the end of this first lesson. I was thrilled the lesson was 30 minutes (and maybe a couple minutes more) as previous teachers have cut short the lesson time. I liked the room where the lesson was taught because it was large (we're use to cramped studios) and had a lot of air circulation. The location is close enough that I don't have to use the freeway. I really liked the fact that there wasn't another student when we arrived and there wasn't a student when we left. It was really distracting at previous lessons with other teachers when students left their lessons late causing our lesson to start late and students arriving before our lesson was finished. I look forward to seeing my daughter's improvement until Mindy's guidance.
Kelly is a very good and enthusiastic teacher. His teaching method is engaging and fun.
I am an adult with zero music education, I love classical music and decided to start playing piano for pleasure. Acquiring a skill is a project in our busy lives, a piano teacher is a partner in such a project, you need to find the one who would make it work. Finding Stella has been great for me. She is very flexible and dynamic, so far we have been able to schedule regular bi-weekly lessons despite the fact I live in Portland and Berkeley and keep traveling between them. More importantly, Stella is very efficient at utilizing the little time we spend together. She spends half of the lesson time reviewing homework and the rest of the lesson discussing assignment with demos in class. She starts by asking me to exercise my hands at the new assignment in class, she gives comments on posture, hand position and movement of my wrests, fingering and sheet reading. She emphasizes the purpose of the assignment (speed, muscles strengthening ... etc). While I am exercising she is always busy writing notes on my performance and things to watch for and new assignments. *She is super efficient at using the lesson time*. I definitely recommend Stella. I think she can be your partner in your piano project.
I've been taking guitar and singing lessons with David for a few months, and I've got to say I've had a really great time learning from him! David is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable teacher who clearly cares about his students and their goals, and better still has played and performed with the artists that I like best. It took me a while to find a teacher who was willing to teach me the music I wanted to play instead of starting with their core competence, so it was really refreshing that within a month or two with plenty of practice I was able to learn one of my favorite songs (Three Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot, if you're curious), and a little longer to start singing it, which I was really stoked about. He has been great about breaking things down when the piece we're working on is too challenging. David has also pushed me to pursue my goal of creating music, helping along the way to create melodies and lyrics. I have to say, it takes a great teacher to get me to sing and to share lyrics with them (do you know how embarrassing that can be?). I could go on, but suffice it to say, David is a great teacher, and I'm really glad I started taking lessons with him.
Been singing for many years and surprised to still be learning so much. Juan is quite professional and disciplined. He identifies where you need work and starts with fundamentals. You can't fake it with him; he'll know! I recommend going into it with a clear goal and he'll design a program for you.
Ann Souren's attention to detail, understanding of the human body, and ability to tailor her method to any student makes her an extremely valuable teacher. As a music studio owner, I never hesitate to refer artists her way as I know they will be in the best of professional hands. Having also learned with Ann hands on myself, I am truly impressed with the system and method she has created and the results they have yield. I do not know one student who has left unsatisfied and recommend anyone interested in singing or improving their current singing to the next level to go try her out!
I highly recommend Didier for all your music needs. I hired him for an art gallery closing reception. He replied to my questions very promptly. A day before the event, he also proactively contacted me to check in and confirm. His music is great. He is very friendly and easy going, but also very responsible and pays attentions to details. He brought his own music equipments including extension cord and showed up early to set up. Everyone I talked to at the event commented to me how much they liked Didier's music. I would difinetly hire Didier Bouvet for our future events.
Citizens Jazz provided cocktail hour music for our work holiday party. We requested the trio. Their team was very professional and the music was perfect for the mood. I would definitely recommend them.
My daughter had few singing teachers, Elizabeth is one of the best. She is nice, knowledgeable, very patient. The technique from her is really helpful.
I highly recommend Ilana. I contacted Ilana just a few weeks before our wedding and asked for some songs which were not regular for weddings. She not only said yes to all of our songs and found us a cellist quickly, but was also responsive to discuss all the details to make sure the performance go well. At the wedding, they arrived early and our guests loved their music! My husband and I feel very grateful for their wonderful presence at our wedding!
I have been taking lessons from Robert since the last two years. Of all the people who have taught me various things over the past 20 years, Robert is easily one of the best teachers I have had. I wanted to have a good technique. He worked with me gradually for several months to get the the best sound out of my fingers while keeping the arms relaxed. Most people who have seen play remark on the fact that my hands seem very relaxed when I play. I know of-course that there are a dozen things I still need to work on, but that realization is only because Robert has given me the practice exercises and insights that I can correct myself. Many of the exercises are his own, many he comes up on the fly during the class for your specific problem. They are so basic and yet one could spend a lifetime mastering them all. Classes with Robert are very interactive. There is exchange of ideas and he always encourages creativity. He shares fun insights about music history. Recommends great music. He would switch to teaching a different tune to keep things interesting. He goes over music notation and theory without being too overbearing and keeping to a minimum. The focus is always on good sound and playing accurately and enjoying the process. Robert is polite, humble and curious and just a great person to have a conversation with. Weather you are want to learn a new piece of music every month, or if anal about technique and like to take things slow, or want to try out the guitar just for fun -- Robert is the man. I can certainly say the experience will be rewarding. I know I have enjoyed every single class. With Robert as a guide, its really just a matter of much time you are willing to put into the instrument.
I highly recommend Miriam Pantig to you as a music teacher for your family and friends. Miriam is a voice teacher, a very well-respected in this community and, as you may know, she is one of the best entertainer in San Francisco Bay Area. She just recently relocated in East Bay.
I have known Lynn for 35 years and you cannot ask for a better piano teacher. Lynn started teaching me piano 35 years ago, and now she is teaching my daughter. Lynn is extremely caring, knowledgeable and passionate. Our daughter has flourished since beginning piano lessons with Lynn 2 years ago; she is playing advanced songs that most students her age wouldn't be able to play. Lynn makes learning piano fun, and our daughter enjoys practicing daily without us having to remind her. We are very happy to have Lynn as our teacher, and would encourage anyone interested in piano to call her first.
I struggled with piano as a child. It made me feel like I would never be capable of learning music. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to Forrest, and he proved me wrong. I'm proud to say that I can play open chords with ease! I'm excited for more lessons!
Art is a great teacher who works with children and adults equally as well as a professional teacher myself and the musician he has done wonders with my son Nikko who started when he was five years old and is now nine years old I can't recommend him more highly he's also very musical and a professional musician in real life as well the best money the best value you have is to invest in your child and music and art is the man.
Andrew is very gentle, patient, and talented. He listens and answers all the questions we have since we are new to flute. Not only our daughter can play two songs now. I think that by listening to his lessons while I was in and out the room, I also understand more about flute. That is giving me chance to help our daughter during her daily 15 to 20 minutes practice. Great teachers bring out the best in their students. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing more flute songs playing by our daughter and Andrew.
Keith is remarkably knowledgeable in music and theory - both traditional and otherwise (jazz and improvisation are his two middle names!). He understands exactly what guidance I need to learn quickly and achieve my goals, and communicates concepts very clearly. He makes learning music fun and easy! He tailors weekly exercises according to my ability and drive, and works with music pieces that are most interesting to me. I am very pleased to be Keith's student, and would highly recommend him as a teacher!
Wow! Bettina is the BEST. The thing that makes Bettina such a great teacher for me is that she not only coaches but she is a VERY busy film actor herself. She always has her ear to what is new in the casting process, what casting directors are looking for and best practices for landing a job and hitting it out of the park. Thank you for helping me not only with audition techniques to GET the roles but also for guiding me through doing a great job on set.
Scott has enthusiasm and flair when working with groups! Dr. Mark Alburger, Music Director and Conductor The Opus Project
Have started lessons with Chloe just one month back for my 9 year old. My daughter and I love the energy and enthusiasm she brings to each lesson. Her focus on technique is something I really appreciate. My daughter was learning violin for about 2 yrs before coming to studio violin, and just month I can see that her music is sounding better with Chloe's detailed focus on basics and techniques. My kid is loving it so far so thumbs up and highy recommend her!
