Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I teach individual lessons to explore and develop your voice in all contemporary styles and genres. I work mostly with adults (some experienced children) who want to strengthen the voice and learn how to properly sing their particular genre. Classical and Opera technique is completely different from Contemporary singing. I focus on Rock, Alternative, Pop etc. Lessons are extremely relaxed and informal, after all, I am a professional musician! As an active performer, I get to share extensive knowledge I've learned over the years that can only be obtained by trial and error. I know what works in the industry and can guide you accurately and successfully along your music career path. It brings me great joy to see my students become music industry professionals.

I've been studying under Lindy for several months now, and have noticed a tremendous difference from the very first lesson. I had a totally different idea of what singing was before she began helping me unlearn my bad habits. Singing has become easier and more enjoyable for me, whereas I always felt like I was straining before. I can hear myself more critically now, and far beyond merely correcting pitch. I used to make people grimace, but now I make people say wow, and yet I know I can learn and grow so much more. Being a parent, working full-time, and being in a band, my schedule is hellish, but Lindy has always managed to accommodate me. I look forward to every hour I spend with her, not only because it always takes me to a level above wherever I'm at, but because Lindy cares deeply about her students and their progress, and provides for a fun, yet productive lesson each and every time. Lindy is also quite GLBT-friendly. I would recommend Lindy to anyone seeking voice lessons!

Lindy is the most effective and gifted vocal coach and performer I have ever studied under. She gave me direction, practice and motivation to move forward. At the time I was singing in the Harvest Lifechangers Mass Choir, but felt that I needed more training to improve. Not long after I began working with her, Lindy moved back to the west coast, but encouraged me to get a microphone and begin performing even more. Her thorough training helped prepare me for my performance last December at the Kennedy Center Honors Program where I sang "The Rising" with the Joyce Garrett Choir and Sting in a segment honoring Bruce Springsteen.

Lindy worked with my son for over a year. His ability, as well as his confidence, advanced significantly. This formed the basis for his working with a band as their guitarist/vocalist. A great experience, would recommend Lindy to work with anyone from beginners on up. Tim McCune, Washington DC

I worked with Lindy when she was in Virginia. She has the ability to be encouraging while still correcting your bad habits and bringing out the best in you. I was very disappointed when she left the area! Lindy really knows her business. She doesn't waste your time or money and moves you through the steps as fast as you are able. When she moved she hooked me up with another great teacher in the area so that I could continue to build on what she had taught me. I highly recommend her! Donna Hawley

I started working with Lindy almost two years ago in her Arlington studio. I was a total beginner with little experience singing or playing a musical instrument. Shortly after working with her, I started to develop a very good ear, was able to accompany myself on piano and guitar, and improved my rhythm dramatically. She specializes in rock music, so I wasn't forced to learn classical or opera--I got to play and sing the music that I loved to sing along with on the radio. She moved to California, but I love working with her so much that we still do lessons on Skype. Her approach is hands down the easiest and funnest way to learn to sing.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always look for a coach that specialized in the style of music you would like to learn. There are many different styles out there and the main teaching methods are for Classical and Opera. This is a very different way of singing and can actually hurt you if you try to sing Contemporary music. I have had many students come to me after years of Classical training and I always have to undo lots of muscle memory. It even helps to listen to your teacher's vocals and make sure you like it. Contrary to the saying, those who can't do, can't teach.
