I took her into Court and won a Judgement against her. She mishandled my Therapy Dog. She told the Court that she does not own Singleton's Pet Connection, as she GAVE it away. Singleton's Pet Obey is not longer in business and is shut down. She still advertises that she is training at these businesses. She will not pay and told the Court that she no money! She was told to shut her Kennels by the Zoning as she does not have a kennel license. Zoning also told me that her rented property does not have the required space and ix not zoned for a kennel. She told the Court in Feb. 2014 that she had no means of support and has no income as she has no Clients. She uses a Business license from the City of Chino but she lives in the County and has no County business license where she lists her business. She also conducts business on her County property. This is verified by Zoning. County says that she MUST have a County business license....DO not use this trainer.

Singleton’s Animal Connection, Inc (aka Singleton’s Pet Obey/Singleton’s Rattlesnake Avoidance) is a terrible company. Karen Singleton is a rude woman who has no patience and does not like people who have an opinion. I worked for her less than 2 months and on multiple occasions my paycheck was late and she yelled at me because I did something that she didn’t like or it was something different and new. When she let me go, she withheld my last week’s paycheck from me and didn’t give me my money that she owed me. Her methods are a waste of your time and money because exactly what she does at her kennel has to be duplicated at the owner’s home. So you are doing double the work. She doesn’t return phone calls in a timely manner, she blames me for things she forgets or does not response to questions and makes you look like the bad guy. Ex. An owner left their 2 dogs with the boarding facility and when the dogs’ medications were returned to the owner at pick up, they were soaked and unusable from the rain over the weekend. The owner came to me and I explained Karen works over the weekends and must have forgot to take the bag out of the rain. They messaged Karen and she forwarded the message to me as if it was my problem. Another incident was when a boxer was showing signs that it was sick and I brought it to Karen’s attention, she said that he was fine and to just put peroxide on his wounds. I later found out from the owner when he finally was taken to the vet, that the dog has a serious fungal infection and ear mites. Karen lacks the concern and care for the dogs. All she’s worried about is making her money. She just wants to put, pretty much, every dog on “Doggy Prozac” because she can’t tolerate the aggression, anxiety or excessive barking of the dogs. I am a previous employee of the company and I URGE you not to use her services! Save yourself the headache, time, money and stress that will come with using her!

20 some years ago we took our 6 month old female Akita to Karen Singleton when she was in Claremont. She said ok I know how to deal with Akitas. My German Shepherd Chinook will put it in its place. After several group classes with her assistant Karen shows up with Chinook. She says we will keep them on their leashes and let them sniff and when I say so let your dog go. In my mind I'm thinking not a good idea. So we do this, she gives the word and my dog has her male on the ground by the throat. She grabs her dog and I have mine release. She storms off saying I don't understand, that's never happened before. We never saw her again at a class and we did finish out the course. Our dog stayed protective of the family until she passed at ten years old. I personally would not recommend this trainer.

I had to take her to court also and like you I won my judgment. She took money upfront and never performed services. She eluded the summons than got extensions on court date. Told court she had no money and all kinds of reasons why she couldn't pay. She moves around and changes company name to avoid any kind of restitution. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING KAREN SINGLETON....OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Remember that no Dog Trainer or Dog Behaviorist is licensed or regulated (with the exception of training dogs to hunt), so it is important that you personally interview several trainers and watch them work directly with your dog to demonstrate what they represent. Your dog(s) are a significant part of your life, and training is a large investment (both time and money), so it is in your best interest to investigate and find a trainer that you are both comfortable with and who is effective. Don’t be afraid to ask pointed questions such as: • Do you guarantee your training for the life of my dog? • How long have you been training professionally? • Do you have experience training other kinds of animals? • When my dog misbehaves, what method(s) will you suggest I use? • If I don’t like a particular method of training, will you adapt your training to fit my and my dogs’ preferences and needs?
