I have had trainers before. However, never one like Megan, who cares beyond the workout. Her overall wellness lifestyle is motivating and inspirational. Her classes are filled with support and drive. I like that she is not a pushover or a Drill Sargent. Most of all she knows her stuff. She is always reading and learning, adding more credentials to her resume...and keep classes fresh and different. What she has created is a community of wellness with her blog, videos, and app. I would recommend Megan to anyone who wants to make a positive change in their life.

I engaged with Diane at the most pivotal time in my life, when I had some critical decisions to make about what I was going to do next and needed to get back in touch with the things that were meaningful and effective for me at a deep level. There is no denying that we were successful in getting to a path forward, as I've come out of the coaching exercise more sure of myself, confident, resilient and grounded then I've felt in a long time. Diane overflows with positive energy and a wealth of knowledge. Everything that we did was guided by my own thoughts and reactions, so in a sense the accomplishment was achieved through a conversation with myself that she facilitated, making the results permanent and self reinforcing. I can't thank her enough for helping turn things around for me. The changes are profound and I would recommend that she can achieve the same for anyone in a similar need.

It was a privilege to meet with Judy. She is one of the most humble, genuine and kind persons I have ever met. Before she begins the healing process she makes sure to give you information about her approach, her background and also gets to know you. This helped me feel very comfortable. Ultimately, I experienced healing and releif in one session from hip pain that the chiropractor could not fix in 6 months. And even beyond that she helped uncover, process and begin to let go of some emotional struggles attached to my physical pain. Judy truly has a gift.

Junior Leoso is hands down the BEST around. He has been my personal trainer for about 7 months now and I have loved every minute of my time with him in the gym. I have always tried to maintain a healthy lifestyle but was not meeting any of my physical goals and wasn’t motivated to get into the gym consistently. Junior changed all of that around for me. He makes working out enjoyable and very rewarding. Junior really knows his stuff. There is not a single question about health and fitness that he isn’t able to answer. He is very professional and truly cares about the well being of his clients. He comes to work everyday not for the money but for the happiness and success of his clients. Believe me his methods work! I have made tremendous physical gains with Junior and now thanks to him I absolutely love my body!

Returning to the workforce after being at home with my children felt daunting. Margi, my friend and someone I've admired for many years helped coach me through the transition beautifully. She is an excellent listener, communicator, and helps you break it all down into manageable pieces! She is encouraging and uplifting to work with and I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs job coaching or any transitional coaching. Lucia P

Christian's style is very supportive. He pushes me, but never beyond my capabilities. He corrects my form if necessary, but is never a boot camp instructor. He is always upbeat, which has a big influence on how I feel about my workouts. In fact, I look forward to workouts with Christian because I know I always feel better afterwards, both mentally and physically. Over the years, I have had four personal trainers, and Christian is still my favorite.

Krista does an outstanding job of "coming alongside" her clients. She takes both a personal and professional interest in what you are trying to achieve and sets goals accordingly. She truly has a heart for people who are striving to overcome their bad habits and make healthy changes in the way they live out their lives in all areas....Spirit, Mind and Body. Krista's many years of work in this field give her a deep knowledge and understanding of the human body and those of us who train with her are the beneficiaries of her experience in working with all different types of people over the course of time. Krista is encouraging, motivating, and inspriring, and she fearlessly leads me in my pursuit of better health and wellness! Our time together always leaves me feeling refreshed and excited about the changes I am making. She has set a new standard for me in what I would expect from a trainer. I feel very blessed to be able to work with her.

Chelsea is a true healer. I came in when my acid reflux and stomach problems were acting up because I was weaning off of Prilosec. It wasn’t a very long session but I felt so much better after. She used her healing stones and placed them at the chakras and performed reiki on me, focusing on my esophagus and stomach. I couldn’t believe how much better I was feeling and you could feel the heat coming from her hands. I recommend Chelsea for whatever healing needs you have. Thanks again Chelsea!

I started seeing Todd Spath in January 2011, when my life was unraveling. I suffered a nervous breakdown and I was diagnosed with severe depression, generalized anxiety, PTSD, suicidality, and self harm. Todd helped me to uncover the sources of my symptoms that had caused me a lot of pain and grief throughout my whole life. He has helped me and my family through many very difficult marriage and family challenges. It has been a long road back to recovery, but the journey has been well worth it. Having Todd as my therapist has been a great blessing and he has made my journey much easier. Todd has such a great heart to serve people, which shines in his ability as a Marriage and Family Therapist. He is very patience, empathetic, witty, creative, and wise. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a Marriage and Family Therapist.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
