Having Sat cook for my family of five has been nothing short of life-changing. He spends the afternoon in my kitchen preparing healthy dinners, breakfasts and snacks according to my family's complicated dietary needs and varied taste preferences. The food is truly gourmet, and I'm spending the time playing with my three young kids rather than meal planning and cooking. His knowledge of nutrition and his ability to cook "whole" while navigating several food allergies has surprised my expectations; and the kids cheer when "Sat is cooking!"
Alisa is very professional. Her food was very delicious and everyone enjoyed her cooking. On Nov 9, 2014 our non profit outreach organization held a fund raising event. Everyone told me her food was out of this world. I highly recommend Alisa's services. Alisa is amongst the best around the Bay Area. My husband Garth, myself and our volunteers enjoyed Alisa and her tasty dishes.
Grace provided a delicious 5 course meal for my husband's birthday right in our own home. It was amazing! The appetizer of endive and Serrano ham was great. The seafood soup with shrimp, clams, lobster mussels and white fish in a tomato veggie base was delish! And my 3 years old was licking her plate after the chocolate mousse cake. We were so full and happy. Great food served at home!
We hired Chef Graham last-minute to help with a fun event for a 19th birthday, where the birthday girl wanted her friends and family to participate in the cooking process. I just made the booking and wasn't personally in attendance for the event, but I heard from all who where that Chef Graham was incredibly skilled and charming and an all-around great find. Highly recommended and thanks again!
My partner and I just had our first cooking/nutrition lesson with Daniella and we LOVE her!!! Learned how to grocery shop cheap, healthy, tasty and organic. Then had tons of yummy receipes for the week from marinating meat, making homemade dips/sauces to healthy/tasty snacks. She is so kind, easygoing, fun and knows her cooking stuff! :) We are signed up for more weekly cooking lessons and so happy we got connected with Daniella. Thank you!
Excellent experience. Our group of 5 couples in CA for several days of winery tours, Michelle prepared dinner at our house in the hills above Santa Rosa. Beautifully done, the food was excellent and the tablescaping was beautiful. Would do it again!
Angela made our family a dinner. We are not gluten free or vegetarian normally, so it's an endorsement when our kids eat vegetarian. We had a cauliflower soup, a couple of different vegetarian items like stuffed mushrooms for the main meal and several dessert items. It was all delicious, but the things that were especially amazing were the fresh tomatoe tarts (gluten free-couldn't tell) and these strawberry and cream tartlets (different crust from the tomato.) We left the table fat and happy! I have also had her cream filled chocolate cupcakes on another occasion which were also spectacular.
James' service was awesome. I am glad that I found him on Thumbtack. I got connected with him through the platform just 3 days before my planned dinner. I think the platform did a great job matching him with my project. Even though within the short amount of time, he could still pull this together. I just had some general ideas of dishes that I wanted. James did an excellent job to recommend me what I should include. He delivered the food himself and even handed me a note how to reheat dishes (each note for each dish- so impressed by his thoughtfulness). The food was delicious. All of my guests loved it Lastly, the price was so good $300/ 5 different dishes for 12 people. Definitely, recommend his service. 5 stars.
Exceptional. We hired Zach to cater and teach a sushi making class for 6 couples at my house for my wife's birthday. He was incredibly responsive and thoughtful. We emailed and spoke several times in advance of the event about what my expectations for the evening and the types of fish we wanted and what we wanted to make. He also give me a lot of tips on sake -- so I went out and bought several bottles of sake for the guests to do a sake taste testing He drove down to silicon valley from Sonoma, purchased the fish fresh from his contacts at Fisherman's Wharf, and arrived at our home later than expected but well before the guests, so we had plenty of time. He prepared 3 appetizers for us -- an excellent Japanese beef dish, a poke/ponzu dish and a scallop and moon fish sashimi dish with a coconut sauce. Then he taught the group how to make rolls and we each made several rolls with a wide variety of fish and ingredients that he brought. Zach explained a lot about sushi making, from how he evaluates the fish, how it should be cut, how sushi restaurants operate, what to look for at sushi restaurants, etc. His involvement in the evening beyond just preparing the food really helped make the party a lot of fun.
So glad we found Dan's company on this website. From the first point of contact he was completely on top of everything. At first we wanted to have a cooking class, but after talking with him about the other types of experiences he could offer, we went with a demonstration/dinner party which was so much better than an actual class. We went with the Cotogna inspired menu and got to learn just as much, while spending time with our friends drinking wine. Perfect night!
We had Anja come over and do a cooking class for our company employees and significant others. She helped craft an amazing menu, wine pairings and tasty treats. Everything went off without a hitch and people couldn't stop raving about how much they enjoyed her instruction. While the food was great, it was her personality and pleasant spirit that really made this an awesome experience. Couldn't recommend her more highly.
We absolutely loved our french cooking lesson with Mashav! She created a custom menu for the class based on our suggestions and fresh local ingredients. She walked us through each step carefully and answered all of our questions. The final result -- 4 made-from-scratch french dishes -- was phenomenal. To top it all off, Mashav was very organized and easy to plan the class with.
Sophie was amazing! She's the real deal in terms of cooking, explaining things and making things simple. I'm so glad I hired her. I'll definitely hire her again!
Elyse is incredible! I hired her to cater my sister's baby shower and she did such an amazing job that I went on to hire her as my personal chef. I am currently finishing my doctorate degree and at the time I had classes from 8:00AM-9:00PM which made it difficult for me to make healthy meals. Every week Elyse would deliver a basket filled with delicious home-cooked meals that were catered to my personal tastes. She was always open to suggestions and requests, and found creative ways to make certain dishes vegetarian for me. When I was feeling under the weather, she made me an amazing miso soup and other dishes to help me feel better. I was so sad when she left the Bay Area to go to the East Coast; her cooking was the highlight of my week. As a caterer, she is very professional. She will work closely with you to create a menu that will suit the occasion perfectly. She really takes care of everything to make sure you can relax and indulge in a fantastic meal. Every guest at my sister's shower raved about the food and all wanted to hire her for their next event.
I contacted Veena to see if I could arrange a private cooking class for my Mom as a Mother's day gift. I asked whether she could accommodate me (a vegetarian) and my mom (passionate meat eater) and Veena said absolutely. I sent Veena a handful of my Mom's favorite recipes (including a more obscure and apparently heavily British dish called Lamb Pasanda) and she created a meal plan that included everything and more. We showed up and Veena greeted us warmly. Her kind energy and passion for her food and culture were clear. She never made us feel like we were asking silly questions and kept the experience light and fun. She was basically willing to go into as much detail or as little detail as we wanted. It was a very affordable class considering it was a 3 hour long private sessions for the two of us. We even went home with tons of leftovers, a spice kit (black cardamom smells amazing), and recipes for our dishes! Veena took pictures of our experience and offered her help for any future cooking questions we had. She said she could always offer a suggestion for a substitution (ex. if we needed a dairy free version) or questions on grocery stores to find certain ingredients. Thank you Veena!!! Quick summary PROS: very adaptable, super warm and kind energy, affordable, fun, not intimidating, yummy food. CONS: scheduling was a little difficult because there was no calendar or online service to use. It was through email so we did have some communication mishaps initially—no big deal really.
I did a 3-hour cooking class with Alejandra. She is fantastic! She is an excellent teacher, both with respect to general culinary techniques and to details of specific recipes. Her food is fresh, tasty, and quite simple to prepare. She establishes a friendly, easy-going atmosphere in the class, and has a great sense of humor. She is superbly trained in classical French cuisine but also has experience in Thai and Ecuadorian foods. Yes, she went above and beyond what I expected. What could have been improved? Well, nothing! Tessa is an amazing culinary instructor and chef! My boyfriend and I took her Thanksgiving Basics class and loved it. The class was informative and fun, with the perfect balance of hands-on cooking and demonstrations. We got to take home some delicious recipes handcrafted by Tessa - which I will definitely using for Thanksgivings to come!
Great teacher - the most hands-on classes in SF. Everything is delicious plus he is very approachable and eager to share all his tips and tricks of the trade (where to shop for certain ingredients and equipment, etc).
My husband and I felt we needed to diversify our culinary knowledge so we called on Chef Yves. The classes were great (we took 3 classes). Lessons were very informative, creative, and hands on, all in a friendly ambiance. Chef Yves showed us different ways to cook more efficiently. We also learned nice plate setting decoration ideas. Chef Yves' experience from many countries in Europe is definitely a plus and a huge benefit in the overall experience. We asked many questions about regional culinary traditions. I recommend Chef Yves' lessons to all my friends. We will call on Chef Yves's help for our next special family dinner. Definitely 5 Stars. T & D.
