Chef Elam provided the ultimate VIP experience to help us celebrate an anniversary. From the start, he was quick, professional, and clear in his communication. We collaborated on the menu and the details of the night, and wow, let me tell you he did not disappoint! We asked for a mostly vegan menu and he cooked some of the best food we’ve ever eaten! Simply outstanding! Do not skip dessert either. You need his olive oil matcha cake in your life.

Chef Taylor was very quick and responsive to my initial messages. He asked me a variety of questions about the event I was hosting. He told me about himself and his specialties. After some back and forth about what I was looking for, Chef Taylor put together a menu and pricing. The menu sounded great and the pricing was very reasonable. I paid 50% deposit and booked him about 3 weeks ahead of our event. The week prior, we confirmed and set an arrival time. Chef arrived on time and started setting up. He wore a mask the entire evening and was very considerate of social distancing. Chef was very friendly and professional. We were served our first course right on time. Chef described all his dishes and answered any questions we had. His food was nothing short of amazing. Very creative with ingredients and extremely fresh and quality as well. The portions were perfectly sized. And the presentation was artful. Everything tasted great, but the desert was a smash hit. My wife, who is GF and very health conscience never has more than a bit or two of deserts, well she had two full plates of his Matcha Olive Oil cake with Chantilly Lavender whipped cream. Once we had our desert we enjoyed the company of our guests and Chef came back to let us know he was finished and had cleaned up. Our kitchen was actually cleaner than when he arrived. Another bonus. We are very much looking forward to having Chef Taylor for future events. Very highly recommended.

Would 100% recommend Merkato. I wanted to setup a unique, private dining experience for my husband’s birthday this year, and it was so much better than I imaged. Taylor was super professional to work with. After getting an idea of what I was looking for, he put together a six course menu and incorporated all the things I told him we loved. The day of the event, Taylor was very punctual and prepped an hour before our start time. Everything was seriously SO delicious and tasty. The portions were huge! Our menu: The hamachi was so tender and the apricot brought such a nice balance of flavors especially with the crunchy radish. The sous vide Berkshire pork belly was one of our favorites, and we loved how crispy and rich the flavor was. The salmon crudo was another favorite dish and had the perfect hint of truffley ponzu sauce! The butter lettuce with green goddess dressing was so fresh, and we loved the mixture of fresh herbs. Our last savory course was the Spanish octopus and it was simply delicious. Sauce was so creamy and delicious! The olive oil cake with whipped lavender cream was so so good. Super heavenly lavender cream on top of a perfectly moist cake! 😍 Taylor definitely brought an elevated dining experience. Thank you so much for bringing so much culinary creativity into our home! Would absolutely book you again!

    Our pricing is based off a few details we need answered in the initial conversation. Here are some of our necessary questions to help us better determine what is needed for your event : What is your established budget per person? What is your preferred style of service? Is their any additional service staff needed? Are there rentals required? Are there any food allergens or dietary restrictions we need to be aware of? Is there any specific cuisine you'd like to see on your menu? Once we have the answers to these questions it helps us streamline a much more accurate proposal for our customers.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    We would like to have an initial phone call/zoom. Whatever world best for the client. This helps us to get a better understanding of what the client is looking for from merkatö.

    My career in fine dining has spanned nearly two decades. My journey has earned me spots in some of Californias most reputable kitchens from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
