Matthew did a wonderful job on out basement remodel project. His customer service was excellent. He was always on time, a great communicator and easy to work with. He ran the job very smoothly, accommodating our schedules and ensuring that the project moved forward in an organized and systematic way. There were no cost over runs or mistakes. If we encountered any obstacles, he immediately handled them. His team also was diligent and efficient. The project ended up coming out much better than we expected. We would use Matthew again for any construction needs.
Slava and team did wonderful work! Would recommend to ANYONE looking to do remodel or other construction work!
Amazing service, amazing performance, amazing price. I can keep going but I am sure everyone gets the picture. Everything from start to finish was run smoothly and always taken care of. So very happy to have found Eli and GMBC Construction!
It was a pleasure to work with Chris. Through the entire project he was very professional and respectful. I received several bids, and the job that Chris proposed was far beyond the work that the other contractors were prepared to do, and at a very fair price. He was very neat and efficient, and everything was finished ahead of schedule. Chris is an artist who takes great pride in doing the best job and making sure that you are very happy with his work. I love the deck and trellis that Chris beautifully restored. I would highly recommend C.M. Stein Construction. Chris has earned his five star ratings..
Richard was prompt, professional, efficient and EFFECTIVE in the project for which I hired him. I will definitely use him again.
I hired them to lay the engineered bamboo floor in my condo. They did exactly what promised and in the time they originally specified. I have been doing remidelling and construction of my rentals and my resident for the last 10 years and very much familiar with the business. Out if many contractors or handymen i met Jason and Regina are the outstanding team. They work fast, they are very proactive and attentive to details. And their price was reasonable. What is the most important for me is that they do listen to my suggestions - not like many macho style contractors:). The floor work looks absolutely great and i am very happy. So that i would like to hire them for other work on my rental property.
We had Ryan over yesterday to repair 3 interior doors in a very old and actually historic San Franciscan Victorian house. In addition to the three interior doors, Ryan painted the front door which had also just been replaced. His attention to detail was great, there were constant adjustments to make sure everything fit, latched, matched, didn't drag, looked great, etc. His response was prompt, he replied almost immediately and was available to start the very next day. He came prepared for the job, from start to finish. Ryan is very up front and fair in terms of compensation. You will have zero issue with the transparency and fairness of his bids. It should also be noted that this is a very old building. The areas where the door hinges connected to the wall/door frame were extremely dilapidated, the wood was old and and over drilled. It was like putty. But Ryan rocked it. Not only did Ryan pay close attention to the style of the Victorian building and matched the details perfectly, his finished product was seamless. You can't even tell that work had been done. There wasn't even dust on the floor. It was legit, honest good work. 100% recommend.
We first met their team when a salesman cold-called us. It took us a while to make a decision about what we wanted to do, but once my wife and I decided to move forward, working with Shmuel and his team was excellent. I can't say enough good about them. The project involved removing a bathroom, adding a bathroom, removing and remodeling a kitchen, adding hardwood floors, adding a gas line, upgrading an electrical box, moving HVAC ducts, wiring and hanging a chandelier, tile for a fireplace and mantle, and painting. There were structural walls that needed to be modified. They promised to get the job done in six weeks, in time for an important family gathering we had planned. We were skeptical, but bet on them, and they came through. In any project of this size, there will be unforeseen issues that come up. In all of those cases, Shmuel was excellent to work with. Some examples are: - Once we saw the lighting in the new kitchen, we wanted an extra light over the sink. He tore-up some of his work and added it and charged us for the hardware only. - We wanted a cabinet added by our front door and another by our laundry room. He added it to the work without question, and charged only for the hardware. - We decided we wanted to replace the stair railing. He helped us find bids from railing experts, and charged us the bid without any contractor markup. The extra work disrupted his planned work schedule, but he worked around it to make sure we were still done on time. - The vent over the kitchen range appeared too low to us, even though it was within code. He replaced and installed the cabinet with something smaller. No charge. - With all the demolition, he accidentally lost our Nest thermostat. When this was realized, without any questions or me having to ask, he apologized and picked-up a new one, at his cost. Some other examples of the excellent service: - Shmuel and Shalhevet helped us pick paint colors and pick kitchen appliances and cabinet styles, traveling to a number of stores with us. My understanding is that most contractors would just tell you to pick something and leave you to figure out the details. - They allowed us to live in our home during construction. At the end of each day, they spent time blocking-off areas and moving equipment (as required by code) to make the site safe for our children. He could have easily just insisted we spend a month in a hotel. - All the little things. For example, we never discussed replacing the flooring HVAC vent covers; he bought beautiful new ones that matched the wood floors we chose. We never discussed replacing outlet faces, but he felt it wasn't right to repaint and leave the old worn outlet faces. They are highly recommended!
Peter’s work quality is excellent and the level of his personal and professional integrity is wonderful and hard to find these days. We initially hired him for what appeared to be a simple job, which then turned out to be a much more complicated project. Peter was honest and very helpful throughout the lengthy, stressful process for fixing a million unanticipated issues. He is a lovely person who cares about his clients and puts a lot of thought into his craft.
I hired Sergey to do a full remodel of one floor (~1,500 sq. ft.) of a house in the Richmond in San Francisco. Full gut of kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and rebuilding of a small extension. The whole space was painted and floors were refinished. Nothing was left untouched. On communication: Sergey is very, very responsive. He will answer all texts, phone calls, emails etc. and if he happens to miss a call (which almost never happened), he returns it in minutes or sends a text to let you know when he can talk. On value: The quality of work is very good. Sergey works with a contractor named Artur who is a whiz at his job. Artur fixed every problem, made a few things I thought were not possible happen, and he was just really, really great. Between Sergey and Artur, they were able to realize the vision I had of my house. We were not significantly over budget. I do wish that Sergey had a better system for reimbursement of receipts. For example, Sergey bought things like trim, siding, and extra plumbing parts that I was to reimburse him for. Though I asked him for receipts multiple times, Sergey would show me pictures of receipts on his phone piecemeal and each receipt contained other purchases of rough materials that he was to be responsible for. Just confusing and difficult to do an accurate accounting. I just ended up paying him what he told me was the amount for all the reimburseable purchases without really seeing the receipts. Do I feel like Sergey fluffed the receipts? No, but I still would have liked a clear accounting of them. Overall, there are little details that were missed like small scratches in the refinished floors possibly made by ladders or tools, areas where paint wasn't retouched, socket plates that were installed sort of loose etc. BUT I am being picky and I can live with those little things. This next bit is the important part. Sergey has continuously made trips here and had workers come fix little things even after this project is technically done. This is a huge bonus and shows a sense of responsibility toward the project and pride in his quality of work that is certainly appreciated. On timeliness: This is where my biggest gripes lie. This was a 4-month project and we took 5 months to complete. Everyone expects delays in construction and I did too. But, it's the way in which the delays happened that frustrates and still irritates me. Work here was about 85% done by the end of month 4. We scheduled movers at the end of month 5 because Sergey promised that everything would be 100% finished in the extra month's worth of time. 10% of the remaining work was dragged out for the next three weeks. I let Sergey know again and again that movers were already scheduled for a certain Friday and that everything had to be finished before then. Sergey said ok and since the only work left to be done was installing all lights, light switches and socket plates, I felt relatively good about everything. The entire week before move-in day, no work happened. Sergey told me all of his workers were coming Friday to do the remaining work. I could not believe this. Friday was move-in day and I had told him I needed time for cleaners to come since everything was very dusty from the construction. There is no other way to summarize the end of the project other than to call it a complete and unmitigated disaster. Sergey had 4 people working while we had movers moving things in and since Sergey had told me cleaners could come that Friday, we had cleaners there at the same time. Things still were not finished and instead of being able to use that Friday night and Saturday to unpack, work was still ongoing so we had to cram all unpacking into that one Sunday. Also, since Sergey had said the house would be ready for cleaners, I hired people to do a move-in clean for $450 which ended up being a total waste because workers were still creating messes everywhere. There was no accountability on Sergey's part for this. The amount of stress created because of the blown timeline was huge. Overall: Basically, everything was going great for 95% of the project. There were small hiccups, a little bit of tension and miscommunication here and there, but honestly everything was going pretty well for such a large project. I am still sour about the end of the remodel which Sergey knows and understands. The project just did not have to end this way and it was his job to make sure of that. However, I do have to emphasize that Sergey is continuing to come back and take care of small issues such as installing toilet paper holders, a heating grate that had been lost but turned up, fixing our shower fixture handle so the water could get hotter, etc. It's been almost a month since we moved in and as time passes, I feel less angry about the end of the project mainly because I am really enjoying the space Sergey created for me and because he is still responsive and taking care of leftover project odds and ends. Will I hire him again? I'm not sure. We have a lot more large-scale work to be done so we will need contractors soon again, but it's hard to say right now. However, it's a strong possibility.
After much discussion, my wife and I decided to remodel our dated Victorian kitchen. Following online research, multiple in house consultations and estimates, I was surprised by the significant valuation deviations and the lack of insight concerning maximizing our space. I recognize with these old Victorians that there can be complex problems once you start tearing out the old, planning around electrical, but these valuation inconsistencies concerned us; subsequently, we put off our remodeling plans. A couple months passed; my wife was at a school fundraiser and explained our situation to a friendly couple. They recommended a construction company called Refresh and Build; we eventually contacted the firm and spoke with Sam. Once we explained our situation and vaguely what we were looking for, we set up an onsite consultation. Sam not only gave us a reasonable quote but the best advise on how to maximize our medium size kitchen in an artistic style while maintaining the Victorian’s integrity. The project moved along on schedule and within budget! We were so thrilled with the ease, pricing, and final product that we had them remodel our bathrooms. My wife is happy for now! ;) Highly recommended.
Anthony and Megan from floors to ceiling construction not only exceeded my expectations but made the whole process fun and easy. From changing my mind on the projects I wanted done, to helping me figure out what flooring I wanted (Megan was amazing at helping me figure out what my preferences were), to shopping with me for 2 hours for bathroom materials because picking it out alone was too difficult for me. They worked with my budget and were very patient with me and helped give my house the amazing face lift I needed it to have for a fresh start for my daughter and I. I am so thankful for the beautiful work that they did and for making the process such a great experience. I will DEFINITELY be working with them again!
We hired IKB to renovate our house including a kitchen and 3 full baths. Shortly into the job, our scope increased and they were prompt in providing reasonable pricing, a can-do attitude and incorporating the work into the schedule. Hanus and Chris were also proactive in making design/construction recommendations how to make things better and that level of service is invaluable. I can honestly say it has been a pleasure working with them and I feel comfortable recommending them as I would hire them again. In fact I recently considered them for 2 of my commercial construction projects.
Michael is the most passionate and punctual contractor I have ever worked with! A true, honest partner in your project with broad and deep knowledge of all facets of construction and design. Helped me with a complex condo bathroom renovation project and did an incredible job and really understood out needs and had a roll up your sleeves attitude to meet our really tight timeline that we found ourselves under. Highly recommended!!!
I hired CFI Construction to frame a new 501 sq ft building on our property to be used as a sewing studio. Today, they started and finished framing the walls, and enclosing the entire building with shear panels. Next week, when the trusses arrive, they are going to install them and install roof shearing. I learned of CFI two days ago on Thumbtack. Having observed their work today, I feel like the A team just fell out of the sky into my project. They are phenomenal in every respect. Their work, honesty, and work ethic are models for the construction industry. They have years of experience framing large projects, both residential and commercial. I was humbled that they chose to work on my project. They are not solely a framing company. They can build a building from start to finish, I just happened to hire them for framing. Having enjoyed today's experience, I'm going to use them for more phases of our project. Both the owner of the company (Steve) and one of his sons (Drew) were on site the entire day, as well as their crew of 5 framers. I wanted to write this review now, even though they still have trusses to install and the front porch to frame, because I want other users of Thumbtack to have the same benefit of a 1st class, licensed, professional construction company, as I did today. I strongly recommend that you seek out CFI Construction for your projects. They are the real deal. Thank you Steve and Drew.
Cesar is one of the most professional, talented and honest construction specialists I have ever worked with. He takes great pride in his work. He treats everyone, including his team, with great respect. I have recommend Cesar to many friends.
Had my kitchen remodeled last summer and we contracted with Equilibrium Construction. They did a great job. Aldo is professional and punctual. The project was completed on time. Very satisfied with the quality of work. All costs were clearly outline before the work started and there were no surprises.
Jomar was quick to respond and was very professional. He was honest in his assessment and did a great job.
Shaz was hired by my next door neighbor to completely renovate the exterior of their house. The whole work crew were always courteous and Shaz went out of his way to ensure I was happy with the work and any impact on my property. As time went by I could see how much care and attention Shaz puts into his projects so I didn't hesitate to hire him to replace some damaged siding on my property. All of the work was been carried out to the very highest standard and I would definitely use Shaz Construction again.* Thanks for everything Shaz, I'll miss you guys! And thanks for all the plant advice ;-) I'll let you know when we are in a position to tackle our rotten siding issue. Best wishes, Ian & Jo.
Redwood Baptist Church, Pastor Ryan Johnson - Redwood City CA I wanted to say thank you for a job well done. The roof looks great and appears to be done with superior craftsmanship. Your team was easy to work with and were able to communicate what was happening well. Having never put a new roof on a building before your suggestions were very helpful. Sustainable Roofing Solutions was very accommodating to the schedule and activities of our church. Even with a weather delay, their men worked overtime to ensure that the project would be completed on time. That is the kind of professionalism that is needed today in business. A number of neighbors have contacted us to thank us for updating the roof. I would highly recommend Sustainable Roofing Solutions for your next project.
