My review is for Jessie. She has been an incredible trainer to work out with. She's knowledagble, dedicated and truly cares about the health, wellness and fitness of her clients. She also has the unique ability to train people with limited resources (e.g. my gym doesn't have all the equipment a full gym would have). Additionally, her flexibility makes it really easy to work out with her, given my constantly changing schedule. Overall, Jessie has been a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her!

I am 47, have a lot of weight to lose and haven't worked out in about 3 years so I was a bit nervous about meeting with a trainer but Nichole made me feel so comfortable right away. She is very positive, down to earth and has a real desire to help her clients get to their health and fitness goals at an excellent price! She is a walking advertisement for her business having been in my same place (she gained and lost a large amount of weight and has kept it off). She developed a meal plan based on my goals and lifestyle (changing what, when and how often I eat) I am never hungry and the plan changes weekly so it isn't boring. I have had 3 workouts with her so far and am confident that with her help, knowledge and encouragement I will get back to the healthy and fit person I was and stay that way. I am truly happy that I found her!

There are a multitude of reasons why I enjoy having Isaak as a personal trainer: from his knowledge of health and nutrition, his ability to understand my own body better than I ever could, his professionalism as it pertains to our workout interactions, and his honest approach needed in succeeding in my goals; however, the greatest reason why I vouch for the guy is that he is truly invested in the success of his clients and their respective goals. He won’t B.S. you and he will tell you exactly what is needed to achieve your goals. He won’t sugar-coat or tell you that you’re doing a good job during your workouts and nutrition if you really aren’t and that’s what you need in a personal trainer: not a pat on the back but the brutal honest truth as it relates to your progression. Only then can you achieve success. He Does That. He will help you reach your goals and results with his attitude, approach, and knowledge as long as you are willing to invest the time and energy physically and emotionally in the gym and at home. I am speaking from personal experience.

Hiring Gretchen was one of the best moves I made for losing weight. I had spent many years crash dieting, eating low calorie diets in an attempt to lose weight, only to gain it back quickly and pack even more pounds. She quickly detailed a meal plan for me to adhere to that was nutritious and filling, also giving me details on how to deal with eating at restaurants. Yes, it will be work on your end to measure and cook, but it's made my life easier not having to think about what I need to eat. My main battle with eating has always been mental and Gretchen really was there to coach me through my toughest moments of where I just wanted to give up ( Meal planning through the holidays was tough!) The weekly checkins were what I needed to get through this process knowing that I had someone that I had to report to (Makes me less tempted to eat unhealthy.) If you need a coach that will help set up a healthy sustainable lifestyle for you, I recommend Gretchen.

In my personal journey to health and wellness, I have been fortunate to experience all of Alma’s different services. She has educated and inspired me to make healthier choices for myself and my family. Alma is very passionate about plant-based nutrition and helping people transition to a lifestyle that is sustainable and environmentally conscientious. I have had a grocery tour with her and she pointed out healthier substitutes and alternatives to everyday convenience foods that my family was accustomed to. She recommended certain supplements and essential oils that have supported me in balancing my hormones after having children. Her bodywork services have done wonders for me and have further contributed to my overall well-being.

Coach K Richmond

This is a review for Kendahl Richmond, a personal trainer whom I have had the pleasure of working with. After doing research, the top 5 things a person looks for in a personal trainer are: Honesty, Creativity, Balance, Attention to Detail, and Attitude. Coach Richmond inhabits all 5 of these in a manor that is incomparable. Honesty. Honesty is very important to me. If I am choosing to allow someone to tell me what to do and be an active roll in my life, they need to be honest. Without honesty there will not be trust. I need to be able to trust those in my life. I trust Coach. His honestly is refreshing. He is not afraid to not only point out the areas he sees you need work on, but also compliment areas in which you are successful. He’ll tell me straight up, “Your body fat percentage is high and you need to bring it down otherwise you could have other health problems.” He will also bluntly say, “Those pants look good on you Falicia.” If you only receive negative input, you will find yourself feeling down, feeling attacked. He tells you what you need to work on, and compliments your “assets”. He does this in a creative way. Creativity. Not only is Coach Richmond creative in his honesty, but also in his workouts. Most of his workouts are modified, or even created from scratch just for you. He takes your strengths and your weaknesses to create a workout that can best get you to your goal. He develops workouts that push me, but also cater to my injuries. Believe me, I have a lot of them. Balance. Balance is when Coach Richmond pushes me to my limits, yet knows when to pull back. One of his favorite sayings is, “You might hate me during session, but you’ll love me after.” This is true. When he is pushing me to my limits and forcing me to “shut my mouth” because it’s hard for me to breath, I begin to dislike him. I even think, “Shut up, you’re annoying.” Once session is over I feel better about myself, and just better over all. There have been days where I find myself so sore that I can barely move. Today, it hurts to sit up due me beginning to create abs of steel. Attention to detail. Coach Richmond isn’t like some trainers I’ve seen. His eyes aren’t wondering the room. He gives you his attention. From time to time he will desire to catch a glimpse of you for his snap chat, but that is because he is proud of his clients and their hard work and wants to share with the world. He notices everything. He notices even the smallest incorrect forms. Today he caught me resting my elbow on my knee and said, “Take your elbow off your knee.” Very forward and exactly what I need. He tailors his communication and how he addresses the detail he sees to fit each individual. Coach Richmond’s attitude is raw, and real. He is always optimistic. Though he is not always 100 percent due to being human, but he is constantly looking for the positive aspects of every situation. The best part about his attitude is that he is firm when he needs to be and playful when you need it. In conclusion, Coach Richmond is now a part of my life and will continue to be a part of my life. I’ve been his client off and on since November 2016. Though I’ve been up and down on my journey, he has been understanding and willing to work with me with flexibility. He honors my schedule and I honor his, which allows for a mutual respect and success. He gives me what I need as a trainer and I’m positive he will for you too. He will not disappoint.

Matt was great to work with. He helped me achieve my short and long term physical fitness goals. He was flexible with my schedule needs. Matt demonstrated keen knowledge of anatomy and different workout styles and was able to apply that knowledge to my personal needs and understanding and built warmups and workouts accordingly. He also provided with workouts to take home. Most of all, Matt gave me the tools, discipline and motivation I was looking for in a personal trainer and helped me take the next steps in meeting my lifestyle goals. I’ve had other trainers in the past and they were good. However, Matt is heads and shoulders above them. Although his fees were higher than I initially expected, the experience was worth every dollar. You can’t put a price on your health. I trained with Matt for nearly three years.

Nsima is an incredible coach and mentor . I have been involved in the fitness world for some time and have trained with multiple trainers in the past . Nsima is the only one that addressed every aspect relating to my goals including nutrition, mobility, strength, sleep and energy. Due to this, my results were rather immediate but most importantly it was sustainable; I wasn't on a program where I was going to fail miserably the second I was at a family dinner. At this point, I can't imagine working with anyone else.

I first started training with a Jared several months ago when my age and work requiring lots of driving that caused bad sciatic pain. Jared started with a thorough discussion of my current physical concerns and goals for training followed by a series of exercises to assess my physical condition and range of motion etc. over the coming weeks he put me through a series of progressively challenging routines that I would run through on my own between training session with Jared. This resulted in dramatic improvement in my sciatica. I really appreciate Jared’s knowledge of physical training, his individual approach and his positive coaching style. I highly recommend Jared as an exercise trainer to anyone!

Since the coaching began I feel more empowered and positive about the small but significant changes I began making and continue making. In particular the information on using supplements to assist with my thyroid and adrenal issues and also on detoxifying. One of my goals was to reduce the pharmaceutical medication I was on and I am very pleased and happy to say that I was able to get off two entirely and the only one I take is for they thyroid but it was reduced and I expect it will be reduced. I have heard the saying "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear". I want to thank you Leni for all you gentle and enthusiastic teaching and support of my goals. You were respectful and non-judgmental as I shared with you my challenges and what I was hoping to get from coaching. Your approach to coaching was warm and inviting as you shared your own story, which was inspiring. I highly encourage anyone who is struggling with their health or energy to begin their healing journey with you. The time is well spent and feels like it's just two friends exchanging ideas over a cup of Chai!

Working with Christine is a joyful experience. Her level of knowledge, coupled with her compassion for what others are feeling and experiencing, allows her to truly change lives. I have worked with her over many years and refer to her as the "body whisperer". Christine listens carefully to what you are experiencing and is able to address issues quickly and effectively. Her ability to explain sometimes complex reasons for symptoms we all may experience at different times in our lives, has allowed me to, not only understand, but address my issues successfully. Christine provides the support we all need to make lasting changes within our daily lives by addressing the "entire" person with a holistic approach that is life changing.

I can attribute the fact that I feel a sense of purpose, that I married to my incredible husband, and that I am healthy and happy to Natalie. She propelled my life forward when she took me under her wing as a nutrition client and then as a boss. She was fun, easy to work with, but most importantly, she loves deeply. True healers love the people they are helping unconditionally. I believe that is Natalie's greatest gift. The superficial things came too...I lost 40 pounds, have kept it off after four years, I haven't been sick at all, and my skin looks better than ever. I feel like I am still in the best shape of my life. All thanks to Natalie. I couldn't recommend her more highly.

        About

As a Certified Professional Life and Leadership Coach I assist my clients in improving their levels and styles of communication and increasing the effectiveness of their relationships (both professional and personal). My interest lies in enhancing the success of all I work with and assisting them as they move forward towards their desired successes at work and/or home. I focus on coaching management, sales professionals and individuals around the skill sets involved with their business and life rather than just supplying them with motivation. Motivation wears off. Skill sets last. The more recent focus of my management, team and life coaching workshops has been about creating positive and highly successful communication which leads to similar relationships, with colleagues, staff, as well as customers. I am more interested in coaching people to find the skills involved with achieving their success rather than teaching them to dream. Everybody wants more, but it's something entirely different to become more. I am interested in enhancing the success of all I work with and assisting them as they move forward towards their desired successes.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
