Introduction
I love to share my knowledge and passion for music. Teaching and playing music have been my passions. I perform with local jazz bands, symphonies, and freelance gigs. For the last few years, I have directed Concert Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras in local public schools while teaching highly individualized lessons on Guitar, Bass and Piano. I put my heart and soul into my lessons. They are patient, positive-oriented, and incorporate the latest scientific research into how people learn music. I am a credentialed music teacher. Columbia University, MA: Music Berklee College of Music BS: Music Instruction is individualized for each student's learning styles, experience, and goals. I teach my students the science of effective practice. Everyone can learn to play and improve their ears. At Columbia University, I began a lifelong study of research on how people learn music and the effect of learning music on the brain. My students learn the science of effective practice. Lessons are holistic, where my students understand and love music.

As a mature student and absolute beginner to piano I took my first lessons with some trepidation. I have found Bob to be very enthusiastic, supportive and helpful; and very good at explaining underlying musical theory concepts, not just the mechanics of playing piano.

My kids and I took lessons from Bob this summer. He lives and breathes music, knows everything there is to understand and learn music, and encourages open communication. I, myself, continue to take lessons from Bob working at my continued pace, texting with questions and updates to my progress as I go. I very much enjoy the intellectual conversations he is open to having within the lessons. I believe he has "old school" teaching methods and was a perfect match for me; but my kids prefer more indirect instruction. My kids and I still enjoy practicing together!

I chose Bob to help me understand music theory and how it relates to the electric bass. He understands exactly what it is that I am trying to achieve and has constructed my lesson plan accordingly. He has been flexible with my schedule, and I return frequently as to make sure I'm getting the most out of his lessons.

It has always been a musical learning experience beyond the notes on the page for me working with Bob. His knowledge of the history of both the instrument and the music, enriches the learning experience. Bob gives more than just quality music lessons. He shares his in depth knowledge and experience earned over a lifetime of playing and teaching in every lesson.

I've known Larry for many years. He was a specific student, he did not want to learn how to read music. He had a great ear, I could play and show him material and he could master it. While I believe if he learned to read he would have been much more successful, I never push anything on a student, I meet the student where they are. Larry loves to play his songs for many years and was a pleasure to work with.
