Stephanie is the universal counselor. I have no doubt she could help anyone with any struggle. My boyfriend and I were dealing with one of the toughest hurdles in a relationship, loss of trust. We were never great at communicating and were not open to therapy at the start. I agreed to try a session with Stephanie. I was NOT disappointed. After one hour with her help, I felt at ease with myself and hope for my relationship. She allows you to work together in the room and reach conclusions on your own and with her help. This was perfect for me, I don't like being talked at. She listens carefully, is patient and supportive. She leaves you with exercises to use at home that strengthened our connection and understanding of each other tenfold. We are very grateful to have found Stephanie Mintz.

I personally did not meet with JD, but made an appointment for a family member. I don't have the words to express my feeling for how great JD is. He helped my family member in a way that has and will change his life for the better. He took the time to understand him and his problems, and guided him in such a humble and wise manner. And this was just in one sitting, It's truly amazing !!!! He is a good soul who isn't powered by money...he just wants to help. Other therapist that we have seen, are geared by money, time, prorated rates if you go over their time. But not in this case, GOD BLESS you always, and we will be grateful to you always.

Working with Alik was a really pleasant experience! I've been to psychotherapists in the past and never felt truly comfortable or I felt like maybe they weren't offering actionable items to take away after the session. But Alik really seemed to LISTEN and UNDERSTAND me, he gave me actionable tips to walk away with, I even wrote down some of his words of wisdom on a sheet of paper so I could repeat it word for word later for someone that I'm having a current conflict with. I wanted to get his words exactly right, that's how valuable they are! He also showed me some practical breathing and meditation techniques, which were super helpful and I hadn't tried before. I am going through a current huge change in my life right now, thinking about moving countries for love. But Jaimi is someone that you can show that part of yourself to, who doesn't judge and can help you work through those things that hold you back. I had the pleasure of working with Christina, as my individual therapist, through a painful divorce. Christina had my back the entire time and helped me work out a lot of the emotional stress that was eating me up. She's caring, always available, and willing to go above and beyond at anytime. She has an excellent reputation and has worked with addiction, mental health, and substance abuse patients and has dealt with all related aspects of treatment. She has helped many people with career and life transitions and continues to be a very important person in my life. I highly recommend her. Its always good to have a therapist who has been through what you are going through in life. She understands and offers valuable internal tools to help you work through whatever the issues are.

I've been training under Ticia's guidance for two years. During that time she has trained me with a variety of moves which keeps my body challenged. The workouts have included; plyometrics, cardio such as hiking, kettle ball workouts, free weights, weight machines, running hills & stairs and body weight excercises. Absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship and we only see each other once a month. I needed a therapist who could squeeze us in on the following day, a Saturday, when my boyfriend was in town. At first, when John informed me that he was completely booked on Saturday, I dejectedly said thank you and was going to hang up the phone. Then, I was very surprised and grateful that John was still willing to take the time to hear my concerns and provide feedback. He even offered to speak with my boyfriend so he could hear both sides of the story. My boyfriend, who was very reluctant to see a therapist, called me after his talk with John and was more willing to attend the session as well! Because my bf agreed to only attending one session, I did not want to risk seeing an ineffective therapist, so I begged John to see us an hour before his normal business hours and offered to pay extra for the inconvenience. John agreed to meet us super early in the morning at no extra cost! We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled time and immediately began our session. John had my boyfriend and me facing each other and helped facilitate the dialogue between us. He provided pointers on what words to avoid, how to listen actively, show appreciation, and how to make each other feel understood and safe during conflict. The session was emotional (in a good way!) and in the end, we were both overwhelmed with hope and positive energy! John was very engaged and passionate about helping us. He even gave us a book called Getting the Love You Want that he thought would be helpful for us. Such a small gesture, but I was incredibly touched at the thoughtfulness and genuine care John showed from beginning to end. I cannot thank him enough! My boyfriend and I are excited for our next argument so we can practice what John taught us. We can't wait to see John again next month!

What is a psychologist?

A psychologist is a professionally trained mental health professional who helps patients navigate challenging life situations or mental health issues. To become a psychologist you must earn a doctoral degree; qualifying degrees include a Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D. How much do therapists cost?

If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists. Depending on your diagnosis, your health insurance may cover your therapy costs.

Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
