Introduction: While it is good to start a method book and take it from start to finish, absorbing all the information, I make it a point to go beyond. Many who take music lessons will likely become good at technique, memorizing notes, reading, score interpretation; however, I aim to ensure that improvisation, spontaneity, self-expression, and interaction are also nurtured, creating more well-rounded musicians. Eureka moments are some of my favorites when it comes to teaching. Music lessons are a process and it's great to see someone go from zero knowledge to answering increasingly harder questions or playing more challenging pieces; it's not just playing them but also being able to look at them and pick them apart.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer free consultations for all where we can get to know each other, figure out where you are musically, what your goals and interests are, and figure out what the appropriate books are for you, and take it from there at the first lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music degree (cum laude) with a classical piano emphasis. I have also taken jazz band and combos on guitar and bass. In addition, I have had training on Pro Tools (recording, mixing, composing, MIDI, etc.). I also currently work as the staff pianist at Holy Spirit Anglican Church near SDSU.
