Abraham followed through all phases of this plumbing project with no suprises. The price was very fare with no add-on. From replacing and installing new drainage pipes under the house to installing new toilets in the house. He went shopping with me to home depot and help me pick out the right one, and explained why, then delivered it for me and took away the old one. He even finished one day early. I definitely will be using ACE plumbing again when needed

We recently used Jose to do some improvements on a home that we just purchased. We were very concerned about finding someone both professional and talented since this our first home purchase. Thankfully we were absolutely impressed with both Jose's talent and professionalism. Jose did an amazing job and treated our home as it if was his own. We will be using Jose now and in the future for all home improvements and repairs. We highly recommend Jose as handyman, electrician, painter etc. Please feel free to contact us for any reference.

Second time working with Tyler and still top notch service. Tyler immediately contacted me back, heard my job description (backed up main sewer line in residential home), stated he would beat any other quotes, gave me a flat rate to COMPLETE the job & stuck to it!! Definitely would recommend Tyler from Temecula Drain Surgeon.

I could not be more impressed with the quality of work that Edgar has done for the many jobs I have utilized him for the last couple of months. When selling my house he was able to quickly take care of all buyer repair requests (water T&P valve, shut off valve, replacing all angle stops to sinks and toilets). The work was all high quality as well. In addition, as I moved into my new home he was able to clean out a severely clogged drain line to make our move in as pain free as possible. The icing on the cake is that his pricing is the best around. When you work with Edgar you can be sure you are not being taken advantage of from a cost standpoint and that the work quality is top notch. I will be using him for future projects and recommending to friends/family.

We had a leak in our kitchen, and Juan promptly set the wheels in motion to repair the supply line that was causing the leak. He also ensured that there was a seamless transition in working with Dry Tech Company who immediately began drying out the affected area. We are very pleased with Juan's prompt and professional service and will continue to use his services for future plumbing needs.

The plumber that I used for years retired and so I was skeptical about hiring a new plumber. I hired Isaak for my initial plumbing issue last month and since then, have hired him to repair four separate issues. He is professional, thorough and explains what repairs are necessary, the required parts and materials. He never attempts to drum up additional payment by recommending unnecessary repairs. Isaak is quick to respond when he is contacted and if he is not on another job, arrives within a few hours after contact. I would say on average, he takes no more than 1-2 hours to complete repairs and cleanup. You can then go on about your day instead of waiting all day for him to arrive. Prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend him for your plumbing needs.

Brendan is absolutely fabulous at what he does! He is attentive, cheerful and great at plumbing. Best of all, he doesn't try to "sell" you on anything. He just assesses the problem, and tells you the price to fix it. No pressure, no gimmicks, just the information you need. I would highly recommend Brendan to repair your plumbing issue!

I am happy to add to the 5-star reviews Robert already has! Robert quickly responded via email to my Thumbtack request and he literally came out to repair my garbage disposal the same night! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. And he even came prepared with a disposal in the event I needed a new one...which I did. I would definitely re-hire him again for my plumbing repair needs.

We got five different handyman quotes and Fernando was the most reliable/responsive/Professional one of them all. He didn’t just give a quote, he actually came out to look at the jobs needed and then gave a written estimate. There’s was no guessing involved with his quote or what he was going to do. His work was great and he communicated every step of the way. The repairs he did was of great quality. In fact, I’m having him come out to now do some upgrades for me.

Tino was the first to call me regarding my emergency repair. He was very polite and accommodating over the phone as I explained what I needed (replace water pressure regulator and house supply line shut-off valve), and that I needed it done that Saturday evening. He called back a few minutes later with a very reasonable quote and said he could be at my house in about an hour, even though he had already worked a full 6 days that week. I had called a couple of the big name plumbers in town who provide repair services 24/7, but they wanted 2 hours minimum at a ridiculously high rate per hour since it was after 6 PM on a weekend. Tino's bid (including materials) was less than what these other guys would have charged just to show up at my doorstep. Tino got right to work when he arrived and clearly explained everything he needed to do. I was able to not worry about anything and eat dinner while he worked. His workmanship was excellent and he continued to maintain his great upbeat attitude the whole time he was working. I'll call him first if I ever need any other plumbing work in my house!

We were concerned when a Tenant of ours drove their car through their unit. There was extensive damage to three apartment complex walls, the electrical panel and several plumbing lines were cut. Your crew did an excellent job making all of the necessary repairs. Our insurance carrier inspected your work and was impressed with the quality of the job. You will be our first call when we need any repairs and maintenance to our 60 unit apartment complex.

We needed to have our garbage disposal reconnected and we had a hose that needed repair. It went well because Justin was able to fix it even though it sounded easy, it definitely wasn't. Also what was unexpected was that Justin stuck to his original quote even though the amount of work that had to be done way surpassed a simple installation. Justin stuck with the job even it was a pain. I would definitely recommend Justin Rooter because he did a great job for us, was very professional and a excellent plumber.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often do you clean a septic tank?

For homeowners with a septic system, it’s important to have a regular septic cleaning schedule. To protect ground and drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends residential septic cleaning every three years. Many septic system companies state that you can maintain a healthy system with regular septic cleanings every three to five years. In addition to cleaning, a septic tank inspection once a year will uncover problems and can save you thousands in cleanup and repair.

When waste goes into your septic system, it separates into three parts. The solids (sludge) drop to the bottom, wastewater floats in the middle, and a layer of scum rises to the top. Regularly scheduled cleanings prevent the sludge in your septic tank from building up and clogging your tank, leading to an overflow. Pricing for a standard septic cleaning ranges between $200 and $500, with the national average cost at $315. It’s easier, more cost-effective, and better for your home health to keep your septic tank maintained.

Who pumps septic tanks?

Septic system professionals pump septic tanks. Pros in different states will have different licensing and certification regulations. Make sure the company you hire is licensed and certified, is a legitimate business, and has the appropriate insurance. Damage to your septic system could cost thousands of dollars in cleanup and repair, so it’s best to hire a qualified professional from the start.

Using an industrial-strength vacuum hose connected to a tanker truck, the septic tank company will pump out the contents of your tank. First they break up the scum of the top layer, then mix the sludge (on the bottom) into the wastewater for removal. To get all the sludge and scum from the tank, pros may use a tool called a septage spoon that loosens stubborn waste from the sides of the tank. After the tank is hosed down and empty, it is inspected for any cracks or leaks that could lead to trouble in the future. The waste in the truck is then transported and disposed of at a waste management treatment center, a cesspool or an approved dumping site.

When should you clean a septic system?

Experts agree that you should clean your septic system every three to five years for optimal system health and safe water. You should also have it inspected every year to catch minor issues before they become major. If you think you may be overdue for a septic cleaning, here are signs that you should call a pro immediately.

  • You’re at capacity: If the bottom of the scum layer is within six inches of the bottom of the tank’s outlet or if the top of the sludge layer is within 12 inches of the outlet, your tank needs to be pumped, according to the EPA.
  • It stinks: If you can smell wastewater, call a pro right away to clean your tank, pipes and field.
  • Sewage backup: Raw sewage backing up into the pipes in your home is no fun. The pros can pump out your pipes, clean your tanks and clear any clogs, but it will be a complex and messy job.
  • Pooling water: Water collecting around your tank or drain field can be a sign you need to clean your septic system.
  • Super grass: If the grass above your septic system drain field suddenly gets vibrantly green and lush, the septic tank leak could be leaking sewage and fertilizing your lawn in unwanted ways. Call a pro to inspect it right away.

How much is it to clean a septic tank?

Nobody wants their septic tank to back up. Regular septic cleaning and pumping is important to keep your ground and drinking water protected from harmful bacteria. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends septic system cleaning every three years. The national average cost for a septic tank specialist is $315. Costs for septic cleaning may vary based on where you live, how large your septic tank is, and how long it has been since the last cleaning. If it’s been many years since you’ve had your tank cleaned, the process of breaking up and removing the solids may take longer and could cost more. Typical residential septic tanks range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 gallons. The price range for septic cleaning usually averages $200-$500, with varying by tank size. Repairs or replacement parts will also add to your cost. To keep your septic tank in good health between cleanings, only flush approved items such as toilet paper, and don’t rely on your garbage disposal for composting. Items that don’t break down easily (like lemon rinds or feminine hygiene products) can back up the septic system, leading to clogs and overflow. If you smell the unmistakable odor of sewage or can see sewage bubbling up above your drain field, call for a septic cleaning immediately.
