I had an exceptional situation bringing 2 older dogs from a home with a doggie door to an apartment with no direct access to outdoors where there were numerous encounters with other people & many other pets. My dogs barked constantly at the new environment. With only minimal sessions my “top dog trainer” had the furkids leash trained, pottying outside & tolerant of other people & pets. Beth is a miracle worker in my book!!
John is one of the best dog trainers that I've met. I have a three year old recently adopted American Eskimo with issues such as leash pulling, nipping people who doesn't give him attention, and general insecurity issues. I have seen other dog trainers trying to get help, but without result. John took the time to get to know my dog and evaluate him based on what he saw and previous conversations with me. He helped me understand my dog and what I need to do to help him. Apparently, I have a dog that thinks he's an alpha and he taught me how to address this. I need more classes to address my dogs leash pulling and more, and I am glad that John didn't try to address all issues in one session because I don't think that would have been very helpful in the long run. Training a dog is not done in an hour, it takes more time than that. I highly recommend John.
Paula is an amazing dog trainer! She has provided me with so much new and relevant information that has been crucial in helping me with my foster dog. Thanks to her tips and her information on dog behavior, I have had great success with my dog's crate training and her behavior towards guests at the door. I highly recommend Paula to anyone who is in need to of help. She is more than a "teach them to sit" type of trainer -- she understands dog behavior and carefully explains how humans can work with dogs to give them skills to succeed.
A patient, experienced trainer who makes you feel success with your dog training is indeed possible! Daniel senses the correct way to deal with your dog's needs and is very successful in his approach to training and is very reasonably priced. He's got my vote!
In our house, we have 2 dogs, Shepherd mix and Mastiff/Pitbull and 3 people, parents and daughter. I knew it was imperative that we all get on the same page and that we address the issues at the place where they happen. Ben, from Devotion to Dogs, was terrific, from being flexible on the date, Memorial Day, to working with both dogs at the same time and the 3 people! He commands the attention of the dogs and the owners with a firm and calming hand. He is very knowledgable on pack behavior which helps him explain the dogs' perspective on the situation. Once we had that, the solutions made sense, even to our 13 year old daughter. Before Ben came, getting in and out of the house was a 3 ring circus. By the time Ben finished, we were all able to easily walk the dogs in and out of the house. We also needed help on leash walking, staying off the bed, going up and down the stairs politely and being able to open the front door without worrying what the dogs would do. Ben made sure that by the time he left we were capable in all those areas. He did not watch the clock to see how long he had been here. He worked with us until we felt the issues were addressed. I would readily recommend Devotion to Dogs for any dog training needs. Thanks Ben for helping bring calm back to our pack!
I met Mel when I enrolled my 7-month old labradoodle, Daisy, in her puppy training class. I hadn't had a dog in over 10 years and wanted a well-behaved dog as a companion if I am going to keep her for her lifetime. Mel's method is positive training with treats and repetition. Daisy thrived in the 6-week course and did outstanding during her puppy graduation. I then decided to enroll her into Mel's intermediate dog training class because I still had issues with how Daisy acted in public. It's been 3 weeks into the dog training and I can really see Daisy changing into a better behaved dog. She now knows how to heel when walking, stay for long periods, sit at a corner during her walks, stay until I release her to come to continue with our walk, doesn't go ballistic when she sees another dog & owner walking on the other side of the street and lets go of things she picks up during our walks (like rocks, paper, sticks etc) with the "Leave it" command. Mel really takes the time to explain each new step/lesson during each class. And there are no "Bad Dogs" in training, Always Positive. If I have questions between classes, I just email Mel and she always gets back to me to put me back on track. I definitely will be recommending Mel and her dogpanion dog training to my friends. Thanks, Carolyn & Daisy
Tommy Stark is by far the best dog trainer I have ever known. He's extremely knowledgeable and always helpful. I have a large male Rottweiler who is an absolute joy to have in every and all situations due to Tommy's training. Anytime I've ever had a question about our dog Tommy is always there to help. I highly recommend Tommy Stark. He is the best of the best! Just ask Gronk.
I bought a dog (german shepherd puppy) from Kris a couple years ago for sport work. He set me up with training and my dog is THE best trained dog I have ever owned. She has a balanced and stable temperament on top of fantastic obedience and protection. I am so incredibly happy with her and Kris is extremely knowledgeable in dog behavior and dog training of all aspects. I recommend Taylor made Working Dogs for any source of dog training or buying.
Sarah is one of the most compassionate and empathetic dog trainers I know. I interned with her to become a dog trainer, myself, but had been training dogs for years prior. Some insights she have me into techniques I had taken for granted were remarkable. Her methods elicit results so quickly. I get real pleasure out of just watching her work and it has made me a better trainer as well. I own and train the Guinness Worls Record surfing dog, Abbie Girl.
We are about to come to the end of the first month with Maureen working with my dogs and pups. I couldn’t be happier with her! She is good with each dog and works methodically to move them toward the goals I identified. She is always very professional and kind with the dogs. Kathy Bailey Sunny Daze Labradors
Rachel is a excellent dog trainer, she is very patient.
I had used a trainer with limited success and was frustrated by the experience. I was referred to Bark to Basics by a colleague who experienced great results by working with Melissa at Bark to Basics. We had the same great outcome. She worked with us to help us better understand our dogs responses to us. We tried Bark to Basics rewards based approach and it worked. We learned so much about dog behavior and responses from Melissa. We as pet parents, required more training than our dog! Melissa also is a pet sitter which helped reinforce our training while we were away.
I've worked with Ted for four years now. He is by far the best dog trainer I'm Riverside county and my go to referral for that area. Super guy!
Shelley is an incredible person and Dog trainer. Her passion for animals far exceeds her Job description. Her methods are right on and they WORK. I highly recommend Shelley, she is worth every penny.
Connie has become a part of your family. She is wonderful person inside and out and an amazing trainer. Our little Pom went from wild and undisciplined to a well behaved little pup. Her methods are unmatched. Connie has also helped us potty train him in our new home as well. We are so happy with our training and our doggy is now so well behaved. If you’re looking for a reliable trainer who delivers results and at a great price then you’ve found he right person.
I've been working with Heidi for awhile now. When I first started, my dog had a lot of issues with other dogs. He was very reactive and afraid of them and we couldn't even go for a walk outside the house without it being a nightmare. It's been about a month, and my dog walks like a gentleman now, right next to me. Heidi has been working with me on desensitization. We do lots of treats every time we see another dog, from a far distance, and my dog no longer fears them. The distance is slowly decreasing. I like that Heidi is affordable. Her rate is much lower than other trainers I have worked with, and the results are better. I had almost given up on training my dog, Brutus, when a friend referred me to Heidi. I like that she doesn't use choke chains or pinch collars. I've had trainers tell me these were the only options for my dog and she has proven to me that they aren't. She explained to me right away why these methods don't work, the psychology behind it, and that they are better options that may take longer but won't make my dog go back to old habits because this way we are treating the emotions behind the behavior, and the cause, not just the symptoms (the barking and reactivity). I will be continuing to work with her and referring her to friends for years to come. Thank you! Also, I'm not sure why the bad review but that doesn't sound like Heidi at all. I have friends who are working with her as well, and her fees are explained very clearly on her website, in her contract, and in person. She charges $80 per session when they are paid for individually, and $65 per session when they are paid for in groups of 3. I buy in groups of 3 so training is costing me about $200 a month! And that rate is about half of what most of the local trainers in San Diego charge. Of the previous trainers I worked with, one charged me $125 per session to stick a prong collar on my dog and gave no actual training. And it made my dog worse. The other charge me $100 per session and told me that my dog would need a behaviorist and referred me to someone who was charging $3000 for boarding camp. So at $65 a session I couldn't ask for a better deal compared to what is out there.
Excellent experience. Had no idea training a dog could be like this. It's like we're starting over with our dog and this time we know what we're doing!
Ed has been our dog trainer for about two years now. We could have stopped going to class a long time ago, but my dog and I had so much fun we keep going back. Ed has helped turn my rescue "project" into a perfect gentleman with hands-on classes and clear, no nonsense instruction. He is reliable, enthusiastic, and cares about your results. Class is an hour, but he is always willing to spend the extra time it takes to get it right.
I have had the pleasure of working with Bree at Pawsitive Principles with several of my dogs. She has assisted me with private training to work on home based issues as well as group classes. I have utilized her recommendations for a rattlesnake training course for three of my dogs and it was a great life saving experience. I hve also taken her Rally training classes and it is the best training and bonding experience I have had with my dogs. I highly recommend Pawsitive Principles for all types of training as well as dog sport activities. Your four legged friend will also thank you!
The trainers at CST really know their stuff! Helped me see the mistakes I was making and suddenly the DOG's behavior was loads better. Positive, effective affordable. 5-stars!
Kim is an OUTSTANDING trainer....extremely patient and helpful. Don't hesitate to engage her to help with whatever dog-related training issue you might have. She has been our Agility trainer for months, and our dog has progressed well beyond my expectations.
