Without a doubt, this is the best home improvement service I have ever used. Paulette is bright, efficient, fast, and very, very effective. She has an extraordinary talent for helping you get rid of things you don't need and finding extra space you didn't know you had. I got more organizing accomplished using her services for one day than I did working by myself for months.

If you are looking for someone to make your home FEEL like YOUR home, search no further! Christine has a tremendous sense of determining my style and my husbands (which are not close), and has a way of merging those styles with the existing style of our home (we have an old 1800's Italian style home) to create a professional, comfortable environment that both my husband and I feel represents us and maintains the integrity of the style of our home. She is outstanding!

Amanda is awesome! I can't give her enough praises. She is prompt in responding to any inquiries. She is very polite, professional and non judgmental. She is a very focused person and knows how to tackle what for me felt overwhelming. Amanda was able to organize areas in the home and even give suggestions on items that would help with my household function easier for the whole family. My family loves her and the gifts and talents she has that has helped organize our home!!! Give her a call, you will not be disappointed!

Dawn has helped me with several projects, including staging my home to sell, remodeling a guest bath, and selecting window treatments and bedding for the master bedroom. She listens to my ideas and then expands on them, without giving me the "I know better" attitude that I've experienced with other decorators. Dawn is easy to collaborate with and she is really good at color selection. She takes ownership of the job and makes sure it gets done well, on time, and at a fair price.

Eileen was very helpful in preparing and staging a home that was going to be listed for sale. She was able to stage the home using the sellers furnishings and decor. She was helpful in making the home very presentable for photographs and marketing. The home sold quickly with her help!

I have sold and bought three properties with Pam Sanchez . She has always conducted a very professional business ,while not losing sight of the fact that her job as a real estate agent is to assist with arranging smooth transitions on both sides of a deal. In particular the house I'm living in now was a bidding situation , while not the highest bidder ,it was her suggestion that made the deal work satisfying both parties. Interestly right after the deal was agreed to the opposing bidder made a similar offer but it was to late. This is the foresight I expect ,and the very reason why you hire professionals. I have used two other agents over the past fifteen years and would describe their service as average but not exceptional. If you are looking for a real estate agent who is willing to search for solutions to difficult problems and reason outside the box , I give Pam Sanchez an unhesitating endorsement . I hope this review is helpful to all who read it. Thank you Chuck S.

Duane came to my home and moved a new dryer into my wash room. But first he had to install and connect the propane line. He was very efficient, cleaned up after himself and test it to make sure there was no leak. I will call him again for help on other projects I have around my home,

We were getting ready to sell our home, so we hired Stage Struck Home Staging & Redesign. Once they were done we had so many wonderful comments on how awesome our home looked. Stage Struck Home Staging has a great eye for knowing what works well together. Even our realtor was amazed on how everything came together. We had 16 offers on our home and made $30,000 over asking price. We even hired them again to help us set up our new home!

Working with California Chic has been a great experience. The girls are amazing at design, professional, and fun to work with. We just finished our family room and it is perfect! It's exactly what I was hoping for, but would never have been able to accomplish the same look on my own. I would definitely recommend them to a friend. In fact, I already have :)

These folks specialize in the hunt for the PERFECT things--whether furniture, accessories, paint colors, etc. --it reflects not only individual taste, but they create the atmosphere, the mood, the feeling you want. They are never pushy, but they are honest and will gently push you from being unsure when you're looking at a photo of something in a magazine to trying (and loving it!) in your home. They "get" people, and clearly take joy in making other people feel proud of their homes and businesses. I've seen their work in a number of places and every place is completely different--they can do ANY style. It's obvious they really know how to listen and achieve what their client wants.

      About

I am very customer oriented and very creative along with possessing skills of mechanical apptitude. I have a tendency to "invent" something, if necessary, in order to complete a task if a ready tool is not available. I have some tools of my own and have no problem using them whenever a project warrants. Sewing is another skill that serves well in many instances. Being creative is a huge help to fill in those areas that need a special touch. Many people don't realize what they already have that may be used in a pinch. Being able to adapt to a changing situation was an absolute necessity as a fire fighter, and fortunately that is another skill I use in various areas of daily living. Things don't always go as planned; and if I didn't learn that on the fireground, the job would be even more dangerous. Success depends on a person's ability to adapt, and I love the challenge. Dad told me when I was young that there are things a girl doesn't do. So I showed him and became a fire fighter! Wow, was that a big surprise! He was proud anyway and learned that my abilities were far more reaching, and I wasn't afraid to try to accomplish things outside the "norm". I don't give up without trying everything I can think of. I believe there are ways to make things fun without compromising the seriousness of a task. Having a sense of humor goes a long way as long as there is a good balance to being serious. I never leave anyone with an "I don't know."

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

      • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
      • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
        • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
      • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
        • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
      • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
      • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.
