I hired Steven Grossman through Thumbtack to produce a gift of a wedding video for my sister and her partner. From the time I first spoke with him until I thanked him for his artistic vision, I knew that I had found the right person. Steve is a consummate profession, highly intelligent, inventive and a master of his craft. He spoke with me at length before the wedding and reception in order to find out exactly what I wanted and he delivered that...and more. The video included a beautiful introduction, full coverage of the wedding and reception and interviews with all of the guests. Steve took their own choice of music and blended it seamlessly with background audio footage of the wedding. When I first watched it, I cried; when I presented it to the bridal couple, they cried as well. They were overwhelmed by what they received and will enjoy their gift for many years to come. I'm extremely grateful to Steve for enabling me to give such a lovely gift and I recommend him without reservation.

My wife and I hired Laura and Erica at The Vision Field to be the videographers at our wedding and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made throughout our entire lengthy wedding planning process. First of all, Laura and Erica were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were always extremely quick to respond to all of our questions whether they be related to the type of equipment they would be using or the type of videography we wanted them to capture. During our planning meeting with them over the phone they also knew how to ask us all the right questions in order to make sure they would provide us with exactly the type of service we were expecting. And they were always happy and full of energy, which somehow made us even more excited for the big day as it approached. When the wedding day came they arrived early and were fully prepared with all of their equipment. Our ceremony was at a Catholic church, our reception was in the backyard of a private residence, and we stopped for wedding party photos at a third location in between, and throughout all of this movement Laura and Erica were always able to keep up with the group without us having to worry about them. What actually made us most happy with The Vision Field, in fact, is how they managed to capture every single important moment of our wedding day without ever distracting or getting in the way of us or any of our guests. We hardly noticed that they were there at all, and yet they still ended up delivering incredible footage that perfectly captured every aspect of our ceremony and reception. Whenever my wife and I relive our wedding memories by watching and listening to all the high-quality video and audio, we feel as if we're still there, and in this way Laura and Erica have made our wedding last forever. They're not only videographers and photographers but also musicians and audio engineers, and they therefore know exactly how to record and deliver a perfect product package. We certainly made the right choice by asking The Vision Field to be there with us on our big day and we're thrilled with all that they have done for us. They are good people and experienced professionals, and we fully recommend that you choose to work with them too!

I hired Lou to be a audio engineer and voice over artist for my book, "Mastering the American Accent." First off, he has an absolutely beautiful, rich and clear voice that was so conducive to what my audio tracks were trying to convey to the learners. Additionally, he was very detail-oriented and a perfectionist about the quality of the recording and the editing of the project. He insisted on fixing the most minute errors that my ears didn't even catch. The people at my book's publishing house in New York were very impressed with the quality of the recording. I highly recommend Lou for any kind of voice over or audio engineering work. He set a standard for me and I cannot imagine using anyone else. Thanks Lou!!!

The Byrd Sisters Films made the most beautiful video of our Wedding ceremony. They captured every detailed shot as we asked for, audio and video overlapping and complementing the background sounds of the ocean and the song we chose. They very professionally delivered the contract prior to the event day and they contacted us for the first video preview 2 days after the wedding. The perfect video was ready the next day and the DVDs delivered 2 days later. We will definitely use The Byrd Sisters Films again.

Total Thumbs UP to the Video that was taken for my mom's 90th Birthday celebration. Nino was awesome, he recorded everything that we requested. The editing was perfect. During the evening we showed a montage and Nino recorded the slide presentation and it turned out perfect on the DVD. I will definitely use Thumbs Up whenever i have a need for video recording. My family said that this was the best recording and editing that they have ever seen! Thanks Thumbs Up for an amazing job and capturing every moment of this special evening :) The Gonzales' and Villa's

Lafayette and his team were Awesome from beginning to end! With less than 3 days to my 2 day event I found myself having to find another Audio vendor. I provided a list of necessary equipment and LH Productions stepped up to the plate with their quote and assured me they could and would provide Audio for my event. When I arrived at the venue the crew was there setting up. They were professional and courteous. As per agreement they provided audio broke down and setup for the next day during which a problem was encountered in the wee hours of the morning and the owner came out troubleshot and corrected the problem. My event was recorded without a hitch and my pastor was pleased with the service provided...in fact said the audio sounded better than the previous year. The only thing I would correct would be to add additional speakers in the rear corners of the ballroom where the audio was barely audible but the recording turned out great. We are truly grateful. Thank you.

Lenson Productions is AMAZING. Both Louis and Grant are personable and their work is superb! If you are even considering booking them, do it! You won't regret it! (I have not been bribed or asked to write a good review, they are just awesome, seriously) I did a LOT of homework and research when booking my vendors for my wedding. When it came to videography, as with most things, I found that the quality of work was in the price, the better the video the more it cost. However I did have a budget to stick to and sadly the videographers that were in my price range, their sample videos were just "eh" and "ok". One of the reasons why we wanted to do videography was because we wanted to catch the audio of my voice cracking as I cried during the ceremony (I'm Ms. Waterworks and I was positive that the emotion was going to make me cry) and unfortunately what I was finding is that the audio quality was good with the videographers I couldn't afford. And then, baby Jesus came to my rescue and I came across Lenson Productions! At the time I was in search for a videographer, Lenson only had one wedding under their belt and one sample video to go off of BUT it was perfect and exactly what I was looking for (good video, good angles, good music, good audio, good editing!). Due to my "research" the price they were asking was a steal so I got very excited and my husband, fiance at the time, went to meet with them. We met them and found out that even though they had only done one wedding video before that they were no strangers to the wedding atmosphere (one is in the music industry and has performed at weddings before and the other is a photographer that has shot weddings before). Their resume was impressive but they didn't really need to explain it to us, as their video spoke for itself … they know what they are doing! So we booked them. (They area also good LONG time friends/roommates, people who work together need to get along and that was also very comforting). From the time of the booking, through the wedding, and after, I never worried about them and they emailed to make sure they had the correct addresses for the getting ready, ceremony, and reception locations as well as verified they had the correct mailing address to mail us the final product after the wedding. On the day of the wedding they showed up nicely dressed and on time to all locations and "did their thing". They were never intrusive and guests had no idea that they were even there (what a good videographer should do). About a month or so after the wedding they initiated email conversation with us (boy is it nice to not have to worry about nagging your videographer and they come to you without asking) to ask us for a song choice for our wedding highlight film. I really appreciated this because we were involved in picking a song and I also appreciate that the request was after the wedding as it was one less thing to worry about before the wedding. Soon after we had a link to our completed wedding highlight video. We never had mentioned to them about the wanting to hear my voice crack, and it was in the highlight video! :D Shortly after receiving the highly video we received our full length video. Everyone adored the videos!! Lenson Productions mailed us through snail mail the DVD and blue-rays. In the full-length video I appreciated the song choices made throughout, they obviously paid attention to the music we liked from the wedding and incorporated that in. I also liked how the editing to both the video and sound was made. The songs don't just stop in the middle, but end each chapter smoothly. I also liked how all the toasts were captured. One thing I appreciated is that we got links to the the highlight film and full length film as soon as they were ready and we didn't have to wait for them to come in the mail to see them too! Both Louis and Grant are extremely professiona. As mentioned before, the quality of their work and asking price is a steal. I recommend you snatch them up for your day as soon as you can. The videography is important as this is one of the few things that you will be left with after the wedding to help you remember your special day and share it with your children, you don't want to regret your choice. I have a friend that got married 8 months before I did and she STILL does not have her highlight video or full wedding video edit. Lenson Productions is making her choice in videographer (which I'm pretty sure cost her more) look pretty bad as I got both before she did. I know I ranted, but I (and my husband) really am extremely happy with the interactions and work they produce. Two (four if you include my husband) thumbs up!

They were professional and diligent in following through from the beginning to the completion of the project. DBVPS also coordinated the audio portion of the video which enhanced the final project.

The terms are clear, the equipment is of the highest professional quality and communication with Bruce is open, clear and informative. I highly recommend Bruce's company for your video/audio needs. Especially if you're expecting a large respectable crowd.

About

I specialize in small parties and gatherings for rental property and homes with small to near midsize backyards or inside the house or apartment unit with or without a backyard pool. Even though I only can offer basic standard DJ services the technophile way with music videos and dance demo music videos or audio video party lights equipment rental, I have music from just about every great pop, rock and electronic dance music artists spanning six decades. Customer party host can use my 4 bookshelf 2-way speakers by Sony and Polk Audio and a 75 watt per channel Denon audio amp. or a 10 watt per channel class A 6L6 Tube audio amplifier. All connected to a Dell XPS 15z laptop with iTunes w7Pro64 and a Denon amp, or 6L6 Tube amplifier with 4 bookshelf 2-way speakers, or an Apple Macbook Pro, OSX El Capitan with iTunes and 6L6 tube amplifier with 4 2-way speakers: two Sony, two Polk Audio. Host has the option to provide their own audio amplifier and speakers with RCA audio inputs. Host has the option to let my laptop connect to household wi-fi router or 4G smartphone tether or 4g hotspot for access to YouTube music and dance demo music videos, if I do not have their favorite song. I rather play my music with clear sound aka HD audio for newer tunes, Hi-Fi sound for old school tunes aka Oldies than loud (many people do not want hearing loss or become more tone deaf. Kids and neighbors also complain that the music is too loud). Some of my music may have objectionable lyrics that kids should not hear, such as Enrique Iglesias "I Like It", Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now", Luis Fonzi's "Despacito", Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger", Zara Larsson's "I Would Like", Flume, Clean Bandit, Tove Lo "Say It" (this my only song with two four letter obscenity and profanity in English.) but otherwise I do not have Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics mp3 music. Sorry, YouTube has Parental Advisory music videos. I intend to be family and college students friendly. If you have a backyard pool party, I got color changing lights to float in the pool also. I can also test your pool water. If necessary, I have non chlorine shock and chlorine shock that will allow swimming to resume in fifteen minutes. I also do junk removal service, therefore I can haul away the party trash. If I am servicing your pool on a subscription. I will be your pool party DJ at no additional cost.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
