What do I need an electrician for?

Electricians can help with a variety of electricity-related jobs around your home. If you have a new home, they can install new wiring throughout. Or if you have an old home, they can help with wiring repair.

If your lights keep flickering, circuit breakers seem to be faulty, or outlets don’t have any power, electricians can assist in sorting out the problem. Your house is full of electrical circuits, wiring and sockets that may need repair or updating. How do I hire an electrician?

Go online to find a list of the best electricians in your area. View each individual electrician’s profile and learn more about their services and expertise. Then, read reviews from satisfied customers as well as any issues they may have encountered. This will help you find one with the right experience to work safely in your home.

You should also spend some time researching what qualifications and credentials they have. You might find information about their license on their profile, or you might need to check your local and state government’s website to verify their license.

Once you’ve done a bit of research, ask to receive free estimates from several electricians in your area. Ultimately, hire the most qualified electrician who can complete your project at a reasonable price.

Is it worth it to hire an electrician?

Yes, it's usually worth it to hire an electrician instead of doing the work yourself.

Electrical work can be very dangerous. The pros spend many years working and studying before they become licensed and certified. That knowledge and training can help them work safely and perform the job without harming themselves or your home.

Even a small wiring repair job can be unsafe if not done correctly. Hiring someone that has specialized training on how to do each specific job is the safest choice.

What questions should I ask an electrician?

Here are a few questions you should ask any electrician you’re considering hiring:

  • Are you licensed or certified? A professional electrician should have this information ready and up to date.
  • Do you have any references? Ask for references to learn about their work history from previous customers. You may be able to look online at reviews, but it’s also good to speak to someone to find out their experience with this electrician.
  • What types of services do you offer? Whether you need repairs or installation services, make sure the electrician can perform the work you need.
  • How long will the job take? This will help you set expectations and rearrange your schedule (if needed).
  • Can you send me free estimates? Request a job quote or estimate. This will help with comparing different electricians. The numbers may vary, but be sure to factor in the experience of each person, as well as the scope of electrical work you’re asking about.

Do electricians offer remote or virtual services?

While electrical work is typically performed in person, you may come across some electrician profiles that state the pro is offering remote services. If you do, contact local electricians to discuss your particular project and what type of remote services they may offer.

I'd like to say Thank you to Sadikifu. We had a problem where our tenants installed ceiling fans and electrical outlets without our knowledge. We had first contacted another electrician at home rescue electric that had lied to us stating the fans were going to fall out because spreaders were never installed and the new outlets, GFCI our tenant hooked were done incorrectly and mickey-mousey. To reinstall all the ceiling fans with new spreaders and rewire the outlets would have cost us $1,300+ but upon hiring Sadikifu for a second opinion he took pictures of all the hookups and attic wiring showing all the ceiling fans had existing spreaders already and the outlets were perfectly fine. All we needed were better fitting screws for the fans and a cover for our junction box. If your in need of an HONEST electrician that does quality work call Sadikifu!!! He will forever be our electrician of choice if anything comes up in the future !!!!!!

My experience with Ric today was phenomenal. First, he had to troubleshoot the problem. And once he discovered the issue, it was a wrap. I’m not sure what I respect more, his personality or eagerness to solve the problem or his fair/reasonable pricing. Job well done and I will, most definitely, use and recommend him for any future electrical issues. Don’t be mislead by the electricians that request a large fee to show up and tell you “your home needs to be re-wired”. Trust Ric, to be honest and fair.

Mr Ignacio is a very knowledgeable and honest electrician I've worked with. His is extremely detail and willing to explain every questions I got. He showed up with detail contract and planning, doesn't take your money until you are happy with his work. All of that should cost way more than the competitive price that he offers. My house main panel got upgraded to 200amp and nema outlet. Everything is working perfect! Highly recommend him for any work. It's my pleasure to work with you.
