Michelle is a awesome life coach. I have had one session with her. In that session we covered a lot. At the end her listening and recapping only what I had said helped me to realize what I had already accomplished and what I can. Since then she has been available and coached me through major business decisions. She has gone over and beyond what I ever expected.

I am currently working with Jobi. I haven't worked with a personal trainer before often thinking that they were somewhat over rated. However after meeting with Jobi and speaking with him about fitness goals I knew I found the right guy for the job. He does what he can in regards to scheduling and seeing what works best for you and truly puts his clients needs first. I am looking to the end result of my time with Jobi.

After a long deliberation with my self , I decided to finally get myself a personal trainer. I've never worked out a day in my life (except the normal stroll with my dog , every other day) . So this was a little scary. But thankfully Eric made this experience a wonderful one. From the first email, address me by name and acknowledged my current situation and goals that were included in the questionnaire ( the other trainers I had respond to me, we're like, on auto reply or something. Maybe they were out on vacation? Idk) Anyway, pro health was the best decision I've made. If your nervous about working out, suffer from anxiety or just not sure if you can really pull it off. Eric will help you reach your goals and you'll see results fast. I did. The work out plan he had for me was 100% customized for me. Within the first 2 weeks my butt and hips were getting toner then I've ever seen them, it felt so good seeing my body transform so fast. And to be honest I WAS NOT dieting, HOWEVER at the same time my mind didn't want a bunch of junk food no more and my moods we're so much better and i motivated everyday. Pro health is a perfect example of what a personal trainer should be knowledgeable, ( I had a lot of random questions and he was able to answer them every time ) friendly, confident and makes sure you have a personal experience reaching your goals and keeps you motivated. Keep up the good work! Your amazing

I was introduced to Coach Hunter when my son was in the 8th grade. I was told that he was one of the best 1-on-1 coaches in the San Gabriel Valley. When we met Coach Hunter, my son had been a long time offensive lineman who had suddenly grew in height and lost a considerable amount of weight. As a result, my son was no going to be considered for the offensive line in high school. I asked Coach Hunter if he could convert my son into a wide receiver since he had decent hands and was 5' 11" in the 8th grade. To which he agreed to help Coach Hunter's rigorous workouts, his attention to detail and his customized training had an immediate impact on my son's performance. Within a short period of time, my son was not only competing as a wide receiver, he became a starting wide receiver at his high school. Due to the tremendous amount of success that we experienced so quickly, I promised Coach Eric that he would remain my son's personal trainer throughout high school. This year, my son achieved what only 2% of all high school football players achieve. My son received a full scholarship to play football for a Division 1 school as a wide receiver. For a kid who only has played wide receiver for four years, the odds of achieving such a feat is tremendous. We owe all of it to the work of Coach Hunter. Coach Hunter is a man dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of football. He has expert knowledge on both sides of the ball and has been a great mentor to my son, on and off of the field. Not to mention his rates are extremely reasonable and well worth it. I highly recommend Coach Hunter for any parent who is looking to have their child compete at the high school and college levels.

Shoshanna is truly an exquisite personal trainer. She is very knowledgeable and knows exactly how to help me obtain great results! I have received several compliments from friends and family about my new physique! I've always been very active and pretty fit, but she has taken me, and continues to, take me to the next level! I finally feel comfortable in my own skin and am able to rock a bikini with full confidence... and this is saying quite a bit from a mommy of two :)

Michael was not my first personal trainer, it did not take me long to figure out that the others did not take me seriously! If you have a goal in mind, then Michael is the one for you, I went on thumbtack to find a personal trainer, I was desperate, I had to pass a PAT test to secure my job at the State, and i can say WITHOUT Michael I couldn't of passed! I gave him the information to pass with the time limits. This is where i saw what separates the Professional Trainer from the ordinary, Michael knew exactly what to target and he knew approx. how long it would take. I was skeptical at first but he was right-on! If you are willing to work, Michael will be there with you every step of the way, his pricing is reasonable, I had no problem paying because of the results I was seeing!! You might find "Cheaper" but remember "you get what you pay for". I have been with Michael for 7 months, I am doing things I didn't think i could do, he got this 52 year old lady motivated to live a healthier lifestyle. I intend to stay with him, and set new goals for myself. Michael also helped with the Nutritional side, (that was doable)!! I just can't say enough positive thing about my experience. I know this one thing, with my determination and Michael expertise I was able to secure the job at the State!!

If you're looking for a personal trainer, Vanesa is the way to go! She is dedicated to getting you to reach your fitness goals; whether thats shedding pounds, gaining muscle, or having the strength to do other activities (I can say this because these were all my goals). I've never had an unanswered question (about workouts, food, pain, etc ) or a missed session. She has been super accommodating to my schedule and previous injury. Anytime I would feel pain somewhere in my body she would give me advice on what to do, which has always fixed the problem. She has a positive adittude and will push you when you want to give up or are tired; she gets you to the place you want to be. I don't know what more you can ask for in a trainer. In the 3 months I've been with her, I have gotten compliments left and right, my energy levels have increased significantly, and most importantly I feel confident in my own skin again. I don't know what more you can ask for in a trainer. #teamsuazo

I had the pleasure of working with Juan for several months to help get me in the best shape of my life. I'm already in pretty decent shape, but the fact that Juan helped me shed more body fat and helped me reach my fitness goal was amazing. Juan is personable, professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and truly cares about your health, nutrition and fitness goals. Juan is a fantastic personal trainer because he treats every client different and applies necessary workouts and nutrition advice to their specific needs. Nothing is generic with him.

Adriana is an all around amazing trainer. She took me under her wing when I was at my lowest point in my life and completely changed my life. She was always there when I needed support in any aspect and made sure I stayed in the right mindset. She pushed me to do things I never thought I could accomplish and helped me exceed all my fitness goals, mentally and physically. Not to mention, she would kick my butt in the gym, but when it was all over, it was the best feeling. If you are looking for a trainer who is devoted and going to give it their all, she is most definitely the one to go to!

Tommy is an awesome basketball coach. He always made sure to make me practice and focus on my fundamentals and footwork. I play power forward and center so he taught me how to move my feet and perform power moves in the post. One of them was catching the ball behind and on the side of the basket then taking a power dribble and go up while rotating my body with my pivot food as the center of my gravity. The moves he taught me are efficient and effective so I learn how to play smarter while exerting less energy for each move. He also taught me how to shoot effectively as a big man. Focus in the range I'm effectively in using pivoting techniques that requires no more than two dribbles to get me to an open spot for a shot. Overall, he taught me a great deal and I highly recommend him as a coach!

Coach Gabrielle was amazing!!! This was my first time receiving life coaching so I did not really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised, however. She was extremely helpful not only by providing me with valuable advice and insight but her kindness, genuineness, & warmth was more than I could ask for. I am so thankful for her support and encouragement when I felt I had no where else to go. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a life/career coach or counselor or anyone who feels “stuck” like I was. I’m so glad I made the leap! Thank you so much Coach Gabrielle!!!

• I have been to several therapists in the past and am usually very skeptical of life coaching and therapy When I began phone sessions with Grace, she was able to help me discover what was really at the bottom of my concerns and how I viewed the world. She gave me guidance to start me on a journey of self introspection. Grace very quickly helped me feel that the road to self-development and happiness is a rewarding one in which I have a trustworthy ally. She helped me understand my needs for stability, become successful in my home and personal life and I have become a stronger person because of her. I highly recommend Grace.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.
