With 25 years of design experience and daily hands-on experience designing house additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels, house renovations, media rooms, and even the occasional landscaping plans, my skills enable me to take my clients' projects from initial concept to completion. My ideology of being an interior designer is to work with my clients and not for them. By listening carefully to what my clients enjoy in life and what their lifestyles are, I enjoy creating new spaces for them that fit like a favorite pair of jeans, whether their taste is haute couture, California casual or even industrial. Any concept or idea can be grown into a fully conceived and functioning space that enhances the owner's lives. I personally enjoy helping to make people happy; I enjoy my work and I put all my best efforts into each and every project, no matter how large or small. Every aspect in my design work is thought out and every design solution that I develop is unique. I am a proud member of the N.K.B.A., A.I.A., and the C.L.C.I.D. Some services that I offer are: - Interior design consultation and development - Complete interior design proposals - Space planning - Full or partial interior remodel design - Residential additions - Complete house renovations - Creation of as-built CAD plans - Creation of construction documents - Permitting packages and services - Custom built-ins and cabinetry design - Custom furniture and case good design - Shop drawings - Adaptive re-use - Color consultation - Loft living design - Home conversions - Kitchen and bath remodel specialties - Three-dimensional interior modeling - Exterior architectural detailing for curb appeal - Exterior structure design and landscaping design - Job management and oversight Because I have made working relationships with various professional services such as structural engineers, electrical and Title 24 engineers, and Diamond-certified contractors and subs, I am able to offer full-service design on all levels. Please feel free to ask me about my affiliates.

I'm an interior architect with ten years of experience with leading design agencies in San Francisco and Melbourne, Sydney, where I have designed and managed a range of large and small residential and commercial projects. I have expertise in interior architecture, interior design, and decoration and furniture design. I grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and I have lived for an extended period of time in Japan and Denmark. These places have greatly influenced my aesthetic, the materials I use, the love and respect I have for natural beauty, and the principles of simplicity and functionalism that I value. Currently, I am living in San Francisco with my husband and my son, Jasper. My Approach: I combine my experience as an interior architect with my extensive knowledge of materials and furnishings to create timeless and tactile spaces that respond to your needs and the way you live. I work closely with you throughout the design process to ensure your expectations are always met.

Below is a summary of my educational background: * Master of Architecture, University of California, Berkeley, 1971 * Bachelor of Science in Psychology, University of Wisconsin, Madison, 1967 * Intern and Guide, Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, Oak Park, 1964 * Oak Park and River Forest High School, Oak Park, Illinois, 1963 I offer full design services which include site planning, schematic design, design development, construction drawings and services related to construction. My projects range in size from kitchens and baths to whole-house remodels including additions and new houses. Most are within the Bay Area, and most of these are within San Francisco itself, where I live. I usually do not accept work outside these areas. I have had over thirty years of experience working on design solutions that, first and most importantly, please my clients but which are, secondly, well received by the close-by neighbors, which is a key to thirdly, easier and faster acceptance by San Francisco's planning department (including the zoning administrator, in case a variance is involved). Although I have had a very high percentage of variance applications for clients that are approved, I also try to design to avoid having a variance be necessary, avoiding variances when possible. I am happy to explain more, show previous projects, etc. at an initial meeting at no charge. My clients appreciate how my designs can be either traditional (more contextual) or modern, depending on the context. My designs tend to mature into built projects that have manners and which are gracious good neighbors which co-exist easily with other older nearby houses. They have also been characterized as having curb appeal and are usually well received by neighbors for that very reason. A historic prototype is often helpful in grounding a design and instilling it with historic precedent as well as enhancing its wider appeal. On the interiors, I strive for light-filled and volume spaces, the use of materials including wood, synthetic stones and veneer plaster, and reasonably sized kitchens and baths. Lately, I have been designing green solutions using photovoltaic panels on the roofs and, if south facing, rear elevations in steel and glass, not being as restricted there nearly so much at the front, usually the public or street side, of the design.
