Introduction: ABOUT: Welcome to the piano studio of Dr. Cho! I am a piano teacher based in Fremont, CA. My mission is for my students to build a solid pianistic foundation and to prepare them for valuable experiences - whether that is auditioning, expanding into chamber music or giving solo performances. I love to support my students in developing their creative talents - tailoring the curriculum to each student so that they can build new skills, reach new milestones and carry this skill with them for the rest of their lives. STUDIO ACTIVITIES: The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program provides a nationally recognized music examination from beginner to advanced levels. Students enrolled in my studio are encouraged to participate yearly. My students have been the recipients of the Certificate of Excellence award and the Distinction award (ABRSM.) ANNUAL RECITALS: Playing in recitals are a great learning experience and an opportunity for students to demonstrate their progress. I like to build my students' confidence and intrinsic motivation by having them prepare for performances in a supportive environment. Students are encouraged to send me practice videos during this process so that I can guide them outside of regular lesson time.

Samantha Cho is a dedicated and passionate pianist. From the inception of our first encounter, she was enthusiastic and displayed unprecedented experience. My 9 year old loves music but he is shy. However, Mrs Cho was able to grab my son’s attention immediately. Her empathic nature and the ease in which she teaches excited my son. She has an exceptional ability to balance her lessons so that my child optimizes both learning theory, practical but at the same time, enjoys every minute of his time with her. I also liked how she observed him carefully and ensured to have him repeat things and demonstrate that he understands. She also provided detail explanations on exams and opportunities for my son in the Bay Area as he continues to develop his skills. Thank you Sanantha for being a passionate teacher. It is exceptionally rare to find a piano teacher with a strong experience and ability to teach. We are excited to embark on a invigorating musical journey with you.

Our experience with Dr. Cho's piano studio was wonderful. My four year old son and I both studied with Dr. Cho. She taught with enthusiasm and her love for the piano clearly showed. I loved her attention to detail, everything from proper posture to hand techniques. She also shared interesting musical history and facts which made the lesson even more interesting. My son and I both made amazing progress in our piano playing, and we are grateful to have had her as a teacher. We moved out of the country and sadly had to leave Dr. Cho's studio. I highly recommend Dr. Cho's studio for piano lessons for both children and adult learners.

I studied piano under Professor Cho for a couple of semesters at Cabrillo College. I thought she was an excellent instructor for her patience with students and for her ability to give tips that come from being such a professional pianist herself. She tried very hard to help us relax about performing. She always gave improvement tips suitable to our levels. She never gave up on anyone who was struggling with a concept. Her tips were high-quality. Just because we weren't professionals, she still let us know how to develop the skills a professional pianist uses. On a personal note, the way she taught piano helped me hear piano differently, and reshape my expectations for how I might play. I think as a direct result of her style of instruction, I play better, feel more relaxed about making mistakes along the way, and, in a positive feedback loop, I enjoy learning and playing more. I highly recommend her!

Both of my kids are learning piano from Dr. Cho for a few years. She really know how to teach kids playing piano from scratch. She is both nice and tough, with a perfect blend of technical and musical. Kids love she and enjoyed the learning experience a lot. We switched to another teacher during Covid due to the schedule reason and we switched back to her after that. With the different experience, we value more on her professionalism, responsiveness, and flexibility. The most important is how she care about the kids and music. We definitely love her and strongly recommend her for any new students at any level.

I had Dr. Cho as my professor at Cabrillo College, in the Spring semester of 2023. I found she was the perfect teacher for me, as a returning piano student. I had taken piano off and on throughout my childhood, but did not have the discipline to truly apply myself to the course. Dr. Cho is a professor who is great at keeping students on task and on track, and provides personalized advice and tips to improve their technique and connection with the music. I found that as long as I applied myself with the practice needed to keep up in the course, I thrived under her teaching. My one slight critique is that she is a very efficient, direct teacher, and less driven students may find her teaching style too rigorous for them. However, the class I attended with her was also a three hour night class once a week, which suggests to me that the problem was more the scheduling than her teaching style. Dr. Cho is passionate about her craft, and is a wonderful teacher to guide blossoming piano students! I am grateful for her help in reigniting my love of music, and helping me grow in both discipline and attuning my ear to music.

The monthly tuition is due in full at the beginning of the month.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will get to know the student's unique background with music. If the student is a young beginner, I will ask the child and the parents what their goals are and make a plan together. Next, I will select repertoire for students and take into account their personality, talents and goals. This is a very fun and rewarding process!
