Moving can be a stressful and hiring movers can be even more so. I've had a couple bad experiences before, so I was a little unsure what to expect on thumbtack. Ken wasn't the first to reply to my request, but of the half dozen responses I received, he was the only one who wanted to see what we had to move in person. I had been considering another mover, although that fell through when that mover became unavailable for a two week period without any prior notice. Ken's quote was also more than reasonable, and I felt comfortable with him, so we scheduled the move. Our time was not specific (sometime mid morning). I don't know if that's typical for him, but it didn't bother me once we knew when he was on his way. Ken doesn't text, so you'll actually have to pick up the phone to reach him. I think that's probably better than email as well. I like texting, but I think Ken's old-school about that. Ken showed up as promised with a second mover, Theo. His quoted rate was for two people, not per person as with the other quotes I received. I later found out Ken (and Theo) are involved in scouting, which explains the ethics I saw Ken display before, during, and after the move. I was extremely pleased with the work Ken and Theo did. They were professional and amenable to all the extra requests I made of them. We ended up using them to help move some additional items, so the move took pretty much all day. And at the end, Ken didn't try to pad the hours or demand extra money (or any kind of tip--which I gave them anyway because they deserved it.) Ken charges mileage for his truck (fuel costs at 9 mpg) and return travel time from the origin of the move, which is pretty standard fare. Only one quote I received didn't do this, but their hourly rate was almost triple. You do the math. He also did not require me to commit to a minimum number of hours (although this move ended up taking more than 9 hours.) They weren't the fastest movers, but they weren't the slowest, and they were careful with our belongings, which I really appreciated. What's the good of hiring movers only to have your things damaged in the move? We also had difficult stairs at both the from and to locations. Ken doesn't charge extra for stairs, etc. It takes longer to be careful negotiating the tight corners, but that's to be expected. They put blankets down on all the railings. I think they might have run out of blankets, but I'm not sure. One suggestion: Be sure you've got everything packed and larger pieces accessible. They're used to moving furniture (I think Ken specializes in moving antique and high-end furniture) not packing boxes. Part of what slowed us down was that we were not completely ready for them, and we kept adding new items as they became ready to move. Still, Ken and Theo just smiled and asked what else we had. I would highly recommend Wood Frog Transport to anyone looking for a good mover. Ken made our experience a positive one, which may be the very first time that has happened for me in dozens of moves over the years.
I used Thumbtack the week we knew we needed to move but, not the exact date. They were very easy to get in contact with and when we finally knew the date they were there right on time, they were pleasant to work with, professional, worked hard, were careful with our stuff, and were very nice. Loved that they have their own trucks as it was especially nice not to go through the stress of renting a U-Haul truck, getting it on-time, getting gas, moving everything and then having to return it...only to come home and unpack (exhausting). It was definitely worth it.
I was verrrry satisfied with the Excellent service I received from Expert Estates. Lisa & her crew were very thorough in cleaning out and sorting the multitude of possessions and building materials the my parents had collected over the years. Lisa was very understanding of how challenging it was for me to let go of my folks things even a year after their deaths. I also appreciated her expertise in valuing and appraising the items for sale. I highly recommend her.

I have a 4 bedroom single level house and it needing a through cleaning since I had never cleaned the house since I bought it 4 years ago. They did an amazing job with the entire house. Now have hired them to come once a month and clean my house. Also very reasonable price. Thank you Wendy.

I cannot say how much I love Melanie! She spent hours cleaning my house getting all the hard to reach spots and even getting the spots off my walls! She's very detail oriented and after she was done cleaning she even walked through the house with me to make sure I was satisfied before she left. I will most definitely be calling Melanie back to clean!
