FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a pricing plan that is contingent on several factors so here's a breakdown. I charge $40/hour for piano and music lessons if I come to you. If you come to me, I charge $35. If there are two or more students in a house hold, I charge $30. For theory tutoring I charge a base fee of $30/hour if I come to you and $25 if you come to me. In addition, I charge for materials such as lesson or theory books, since I am able to get them for a cheaper price as a teacher. My prices are negotiable but this is a baseline.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in music education with an emphasis on piano and voice as well as my Single Subject Credential in Music and a MAEd with an emphasis on Gifted and Talented Education
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to be a teacher when I was already half way through my college career. Until that point I was a Music Theory and Composition major and, while I liked the work and I liked the opportunities it gave me, I didn't feel fulfilled. So this was a problem for me. I had been in love with music ever since I was a kid but now it didn't feel. What's a girl to do? After talking with my mother, who was and is the best teacher I've had, she convinced me to switch to Music Education. After my first class, I was sold. This was the right track for me.
