If you're a new 1099 - you'll learn really fast that there's a lot more to learn about being one than you thought. Period. (Including the fact that most regular tax preparers/CPAs/etc. aren't interested in dealing with or don't know as much about 1099 situations). Joan didn't just help EDUCATE on need-to-know points about how 1099s work, she also tries to keep you in a place where the IRS isn't red flagging you (while maximizing deductions at the same time). Invaluable asset in clearing up the mysteries behind being a new 1099 - including how to deal with any shock surprises that you might encounter in the first year. Highly detailed and very helpful in teaching you the ropes, which is above and beyond in my book. Highly recommended if you just can't find a tax person that knows what to do with a 1099.

My situation is fairly simple, I am 24, single, no dependents, no property, employed at 2 restaurants getting taxed on hourly+tips. Someone with experience or specialization in this sort of occupation is a plus. I need a tax return for 2013 and a tax amendment for 2011 and 2010. The amendments have no urgent deadline. Both years should be easy fixes -- the only error I made was assuming my parents claimed me on their tax return for those years. I attempted the amendment paperwork but want to make sure everything is submitted correctly. My boyfriend is also interested in having his 2013 tax return done, if possible. We live together but will not be filing jointly.
