Introduction: I'm a rhythm and lead guitarist & songwriter for multiple projects with worldwide social recognition. I graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor's of Music in jazz guitar, and am currently teaching around 40 lessons a week to students ranging in ability from beginner to professional. My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun. Currently, I play in a number of performing groups gigging regularly & produce artists for their own projects. I spent much of the past 20 years touring with a blues gospel artist, EC Scott, in which I have played with and rubbed elbows with a number of well known musician celebrities. Since 2001, I have released 5 Albums which have received airplay worldwide on various digital platforms and radio stations. I am currently endorsed by Blade guitars by Gary Levinson. Bill has been teaching four of my children, ages for 4 years now. They are learning guitar, bass, and/or ukelele. Bill is a professional, patient, caring, and gentle teacher. The lessons are enjoyable without being childish or overly-demanding. Bill is always open to teaching music that my kids would like to learn, or need to learn for school. I requested to be a mostly hands-off parent in the music-learning process, and Bill has respected that. He communicates as needed and his relationship with the children is such that they practice without complaint. A few of my students have gone on to begin teaching themselves other instruments (mostly piano) using the musical knowledge they have learned taking lessons with Bill. They have developed a personal love and enjoyment of music that has only been possible with Bill's expertise! Our family is looking forward to many more years of music lessons with Bill.

Bill is very flexible to rescheduling lessons around commitments. He is good at wording things so they are easy to understand. His lessons have a plan to them, and you learn not only songs, but also important parts of guitar theory like scales, making chords, and things like the CAGED system. As a result, not only do you learn to play songs, but also the theory to make your own songs, play in a band, and solo.

I've been studying with Bill for over 10 years, and it has been a great experience! Bill is flexible in striking the perfect balance between practicing what I want to learn and what every good guitar player needs to know. He's great at helping me reach my goals if I have some in mind for a particular lesson; he's also great at helping me define my goals if I haven't identified them yet. He has expertise in rock and jazz and is great at teaching both; in his heart, he's a blues musician, and he can take this foundation in lots of different directions. He's friendly, encouraging and flexible schedule-wise. I highly recommend him!

I have been working with Bill for over a year. When I started learning guitar, I had absolutely no musical training. He has been very patient but strict. If you truly want to learn guitar, you need a teacher who will correct you frequently and often. I started learning so that I may one day play at an amateur night and eventually with a band for fun! But you need to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. I can confidently say that Bill has me walking in a very short time. I know every note on the fretboard. I can play chord progressions, easily switch scales, and choose my tempo without a metronome. Bill can also take you into learning songs immediately, but I asked him to show me the guitar from step 1. Learn to play from step 1; do that and no one can tell if you started guitar at age 6 or 33 ha... And that will make you smile:)
