Brian is a great photographer and great to work with. We really enjoyed working with him and the photography he took. He did our wedding photography and engagement photos also. He is very easy going and doesn't make life more stressful when you are already stressed out planning a wedding and trying to get things done. I would recommend him and his work. He will give you all of your pictures on a drive at the end too so you can print out whatever you want and doesn't put watermarks on the photos. He does some editing, I think with Lightroom, but doesn't typically Photoshop things out, so know that. Although he will work with you if you really need a certain picture fixed or something. He is just very easy to work with. We love our wedding and engagement photos!

Doug is an awesome Photographer, I hired Doug for our wedding Photography and he worked with us on our Engagement Photos so far; and they turned out great! Everyone just loves them! He was very fun and easy to work with. This was new to my Fiance and I and we aren't very Photo friendly, but Doug got right in there and helped us, told us a joke, got us to laugh and totally made it look natural and our pictures came out great! We cant wait until he does the Photography for our Wedding day, we know they will be awesome, and we know everyone will just adore him! Thanks again Doug... :-) I will definitely hire Doug again for any Photography that i need in the future, and i would definitely recommend him to anybody who needs Photography! Cheers.

Where to begin with Adam and Hanna. Go ahead and hire them. Don't second guess yourself. I wish I could put into words how grateful I am to this couple for making our engagement shoot memorable and actually enjoyable for a reluctant photo shoot groom. Booking them was easy. And Adam was extremely patient with me as I changed the location the day of the shoot. We live in San Francisco,on the morning of the shoot I realized the fog was in for the day. After emailing Adam in a panic he suggested a beautiful park down in Los Gatos. It was everything I wanted for the pictures and more . Ada and Hannah were very calm, friendly and good fun to be around it actually was very enjoyable. If our wedding was not A destination wedding I would hire him and Hanna again for my wedding photography. We even received some unedited pics the night of the shoot.they were amazing. He is awesome with the camera. They took their time. Never glanced at the watch and actually went over the time frame we had booked them for. Excited to see the final pictures. Adam and Hanna....thank you both so so much. Lynne and Ken

Chris is fantastic! We had a horrible experience with our wedding photographer, and so were a little hesitant to get some family photos taken. Chris was the perfect choice. He was patient, professional, and took the time to get the shots we wanted. Pictures are adorable, I am so glad I have some nice ones of our family and newborn. I would use him again.

"Keep it movin entertainment" literally kept my party guests and I moving! My sister's wedding was a beautiful event and Mr Reyes did not disappoint. He played a variety of music from old to new school and had us dancing all night. I would definitely recommend him and personally will be inviting him back to my next event.

Nicholas Jones was our photographer for our wedding at Melody Cafe, San Francisco. We were on a Cable Car ride after the wedding ceremony. Nick was outstanding. Very quick with shots, very patient with the guests, and very inclusive. The bride and groom and the guests were all very happy with the photos provided by Nicholas Jones. We could recommend Big Smiles to all of our friends. Wish we had a video of the wedding event as well. Fortunately, some of our friends took videos. Thank you for creating a very memorable wedding for us, Big Smiles!

We hired Isaac for my cousin's wedding. He was a great MC and DJ! Isaac was funny, kept the crowd informed, paid close attention to the wedding timeline, and adhered to the music genre we had asked for. He showed up on time for both the wedding rehearsal and the wedding ceremony and set up his equipment and lighting in a timely manner. Overall, he was very professional, and would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to have a good time!

Nicholas did an amazing job capturing all of the special moments and details in our wedding with an articstic eye! Our friends and family are still raving about his work! He was also very accommodating and went above and beyond to film everything we asked for and more. Leading up to the wedding, he was always responsive immediately within the day if not hour and even after the wedding during the editing process he was like this! He has always been professional, polite, and friendly. He got along great with our photographer. He got our wedding video to us very quickly and edited everything beautifully while making sure to cleverly add in our special songs and props. If you are looking for someone professional, creative, friendly, accommodating, and affordable for your special occasions look no further!

We had the pleasure of having Stefan as our wedding photographer. Not only did we have beautiful photographs of ourselves (we swear we'll never look so young an beautiful ever again), our friends and family members, but within a couple moments of Stefan being at our wedding, it was as if he was a member of our family. He captured many moments that were special, including those that we weren't even apart of (since the bride and groom are often running around talking to many other guests). Stefan has a great eye for capturing a moment without it looking contrived. He edited and got our photos to us very quickly after our wedding so that we could include them in our Thank You cards to our guests. We'd happily have him at another memorable event and recommend him to our friends and family.

Sean of Kurtela Video Productions was great to work with for our May 18 wedding. Before the big day, I talked to Sean about what we were looking for and the type of shots we wanted; he listened, asked great questions, offered wonderful advice, and really got a feel for us as a couple. I felt really comfortable with him from the start. On the wedding day, he showed up on time and set-up really quickly. He captured so many wonderful memories that we didn't even know he was there for. He was very professional and accomodating. I was running late on make-up and asked him to come back a little later because I wanted my eye make-up to be done. He was quick to offer filming the groomsmen then and coming back. And he came back right on time! And the groomsmen were so happy to get the extra time with them in their sunglasses. He worked well with our photographer as well, which was extremely important to us. And captured unbelievable shots! The best part was that he got our trailer to us so fast that he beat the site coordinator from posting photos on Facebook! That is how quick he was. We received our final video way before his due date too. If you have the opportunity to hire Sean as your videographer for your special occasion, I would recommend him completely.

I absolutely recommend Kristine and her team. She met up with my husband and I at our venue about a month before our wedding. This was a several hour drive for her which we really appreciated. She took the time to go through every detail, not only about the catering component, but the entire wedding. She clearly has a great deal of experience in the business and we got a lot of great ideas and input from her. She also was very much our advocate when dealing with the difficult bar manager at our venue. The day of the wedding she and her team set everything up perfectly. Her staff was amazing. They were all so sweet and stayed to the very end of the night making sure everything was cleaned and finished. Again I completely recommend Kristine, our wedding was amazing and a huge success which she had a big part of!

Looking for a wedding photographer on line, my fiancé and I were drawn to the pictures taken by Lorinda Keller, the owner of 831images. Amazingly, she was available on our wedding day. All of her reviews raved her praises. All the reviews were spot on, Lorinda more than exceeded our high expectations. Due to prior changes in our wedding day schedule Lorinda accommodated us by splitting our day into two sessions so that we could get all the photo coverage we wanted but still stay within our budget. This allowed us to have photos of our ceremony and with our guests. We did not have to disappear and leave our guest to get our couple photos. Lorinda made a special trip to return later so that we could do our couple shots after our guests had left and during the ideal sunset lighting. Getting everything we wanted within our limited budget was an exceptional gift. Lorinda also surprised us with returning with printed pictures from the ceremony. She even presented us with a beautifully framed photo capturing our happy moment. Everyone was so shocked that she had a chance to do all of this for us. She was even professionally prompt on an extreme high traffic and no parking day in Carmel. From the second we met Lorinda we felt at ease. Her delightful personality was a joy to be around. My groom and I, were having a small intimate wedding due to our shyness about being the center of attention. We were expecting that having our wedding photos taken was something we would have to suffer through. Boy were we wrong. After two hours of taking photos on the beach we could not stop talking about how much fun we had with Lorinda. She made the experience an unexpectedly enjoyable time that we will always treasure. Lorinda had an amazing ability to give her subjects directions while still keeping a light hearted vibe to achieve the premium result. Not only did Lorinda put us and our guests at ease but she also had great energy around our dogs. Our two Belgian Malinois are very suspicious of new people, especially if they are holding objects like a camera. In order to have them part of our ceremony we thought we would have to put up with lots of barking. Lorinda was so terrific with our dogs that they never barked at her. She was also very gracious about maneuvering around the guest dogs in attendance. She went above and beyond in getting special shots with the dogs that lived at the venue for a special gift for us to give the home owners. It takes an exceptional talent for a stranger to put dogs at ease in order to take their photo. We highly recommend Lorinda for shots of your furry friends, in addition to all your professional photo needs. If you want to have fun while getting direction so you get the most flattering, unique and artistic photos then call Lorinda.

Momentostrip was great to work with and I highly recommend their services! We used them for our October wedding and they were absolutely great! There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to choosing a photobooth partner, but I would say that Momentostrip most exemplifies the professionalism and fun that I expect out of this service. Ease of Coordination It starts with working with Bao who helps to conceptualize design of your photostrip, selection of props and coordination of day of scheduling. He was incredibly responsive and had a very fast turnaround when it came to new designs and the many requests I had. Bao not only worked well with me, but he also worked will my (now) wife and our wedding planner through all steps of the process. The Big Day On the day of our wedding, the photobooth could not have gone more smooth. Lines never piled up, guests were able to easily access it and the software/hardware was easy to navigate. Bao let me know ahead of time that he would be sending one of his newer employees, which worried me a bit, but it could not have gone better! She was super professional, helpful and fun! This is a true testament to the focus Momentostrip places on high quality customer service. Afterward the Big Day Before the weekend was even over, Bao was able to get all photobooth pictures posted to our own personalized website so that we could quickly share it with all of our guests.

Wow! We are still over the moon with what a wonderful job Catie did for our engagement shoot. My fiancé and I have never been thrilled about having our photos taken and quite honestly we were nervous to have our engagement photos done. As soon we began taking photos all those nerves went away. Catie did a wonderful job getting us to relax, laugh and be ourselves. Aside from all the fun we had during the shoot, the pictures turned out amazing! I am still receiving complements left and right from all our friends and family about how wonderful the pictures came out. My favorite comments have been our engagement photos “radiate love” and “captures the love we have for each other”. Catie was on top of everything, she was answering all my questions before the shoot, directed us to capture the best pictures and she got us the finished photos in under a week! Because of our wonderful experience, we are having Catie shoot our wedding Fall 2019.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
