Kim was everything we could have asked for and more. My fiancé and I weren't quite sure what we were looking for, we just knew we wanted to gain some useful tools to carry us through the rest of our engagement and into our marriage. What we found was Kim--an intelligent, kind, down-to-earth professional who made us feel so comfortable right away. I was a little nervous about my fiancé and how he'd react to a vulnerable situation such as pre-marital counseling...but Kim talked us through every step of the way and every question or concern either of us had was responded to...it was perfect for us. We left feeling refreshed, prepared and honestly, even more in love. Thank you Kim, we are so grateful to have found you!
I started rediscovering myself when I discovered Andri. I called for her help two years ago when I was feeling lost and unsure about my career and life purpose. Her unique coaching method and healing process were invaluable and exactly what I needed on the movement forward. I gave her my full trust and in return I got priceless information about myself and my world, whom she turned upside down with her grounded, positive and inspiring counseling. I am now a happy freelancer moving closer to fulfilling my dreams and I thank her for that! Shes not just a life coach for me any more she is a coach for a lifetime and I know I cannot recommend her enough!
We decided to try Connect2 Marriage as an engagement encounter and we've loved it. We would strongly recommend them.
Worked with Susan Evans, RN in an intensive partial hospitalization program where she was the psychiatric nurse for the entire program. Her skill, expertise, compassion, experience and humor were great assets and greatly appreciated by staff and clients alike! A terrific health care professional, with unlimited energy and a wide variety of talents.

My approach is based on creating a collaborative relationship to help you illuminate unconscious barriers that keep you feeling stuck or unsatisfied in life. I work from a depth perspective, which means I aim to help you address your therapeutic needs from the roots of your issues.

Matthew has been a really great counselor to work with. He brings empathy and excitement to our relationship counseling sessions, and provides much needed insight to moments when we get caught up in our historic relational patterns. Our sessions are a good mix of hard work and play. Matthew always has ideas and exercises we can do to work with the material that arises. He is communicative and professional.
I have worked with Don Waxman for almost two years and found him to be the most effective therapist I have used. Don has the ability to be empathetic and directive in a way that works for me. His use of somatic tools with me has be dramatic in my self exploration and healing. He is very knowledgeable and creative and has great set of tools to help you get to your goals.
Lauren is a great listener and really takes the time to evaluate your personality and understand your needs and wants so that she can find the best possible matches for you. Lauren is very intuitive and easy to talk to. I've definitely had my share of toxic relationships, and with her expertise in counseling, she has great advice for creating lasting, healthy relationships. I highly recommend Lauren and can't wait for more matches!
Rebecca was professional, interesting and really was a great addition to our party.
I founded Be Love Community Counseling to provide safe, healing space for people who have been oppressed, marginalized or have an identity outside of the dominant culture. Historic trauma and past hurts may show up as having challenges in relationships, depression, anxiety, anger management issues, low self-esteem, underachievement, oppositional behaviors, etc. You may think that something is wrong with you while what you're experiencing may actually be a result of something that has happened to you or your ancestors. Therapy is empowering as you may increase awareness about what is keeping you from freedom to live the life you desire. We may meet for a brief period, and you'll learn and practice coping skills, or we can take time needed to focus on the root of the problems and identify the best solutions for you. You may gain deeper knowledge of your true self and what creates joy and ease. I use an "eclectic" approach to personalize counseling to meet the unique needs of the individuals who I serve. This means I use a variety of different treatment modalities including, but are not limited to eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), family systems, solution-focused brief therapy, play, sand tray, expressive arts, spiritual, narrative, mindfulness, psychodynamic and humanistic therapies. Issues that may be addressed in counseling are many, but I focus on growing your strengths and supporting you to live the life that you desire. I don't pretend to have all answers, but I'm honest and will share if I can help.
Change is not easy! And yet sometimes, the pain of difficult feelings, a challenging situation or a rocky relationship can overwhelm everything else. At such times, you may feel compelled to try something new and to give up exhausted efforts at doing it alone. In counseling, you can find relief from anxious thoughts, painful relationships, and self-defeating behaviors. Therapy offers you the opportunity to heal from your past, better manage your present and develop more adaptive and fulfilling ways of being. In my practice, I see women, men, couples, families and groups of many ages and cultural backgrounds. No two situations are ever exactly alike. At the same time, there are some issues that I work with more than others, and these are listed here: * Trauma * Divorce * Anxiety * Lost Women (please see my website for more information) * Grief or Loss I am a certified practitioner of EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and expressive arts therapy (EXA). EMDR is a mind-body technique that's used to process disturbing memories (i.e.: traumatic events) that contribute to unexplained fears and self-defeating beliefs and behaviors. EXA is a therapeutic modality that's dedicated to the use of creativity as a vehicle for change. For more information on these techniques and how they work, please feel free to visit my website. You are also welcome to contact me for a free 15-minute consultation.
One of the reasons why it's so convenient to see me for counseling is the flexibility that Heidi F Yoder, mft Life Skills Stylist allows you. This is delivered in two ways: * Accessibility - did you find that you'll be out of town during your appointment? We can use Skype or use other forms of online therapy. Studies have shown online therapy to be just as, and sometimes more, effective than in-person therapy. Working with teens or those struggling with depression, getting outside and doing eco-therapy can be a good idea. Studies have shown that information taken in under the influence of endorphins (caused by both exercise and nature) is learned more deeply, like the difference between hearing something, writing something, and repeating something back. * Diversification - types of services offered. An individual may be seeing me for skill development work that initiates a fulfillment career change. Later, that same individual may bring his partner in for some work on communication theory to help resolve some of their core issues. During this work, some material about their child may come up, and it becomes obvious that later, a few laser-focus CBT sessions would greatly benefit the teen's patterns of thinking around managing expectations and organization, in a way that brings her/him positive outcomes.
I am collaborative, and I care deeply about my clients. I am creative, and I am first and foremost interested in offering relief. Well-being is something I believe should be available today, not ten years down the line. My clients have told me that while they appreciate my deep empathy, they also value my analytical ability to help them make connections and offer fresh perspectives. They have expressed relief at finding our sessions filled with humor and a light, gentle inquisitive approach. I offer individual, couples and family sessions. I also facilitate a chronic pain session to a well-being group. I excel at helping people through transitions and teaching couples how to nurture, heal, and/or add a sense of vitality and expansiveness to their relationships.
I am a certified community mediator, a certified anger management trainer (level II) and a credentialed adult education instructor. As a full-service college consultant, I specialize in the application process and the requirements for college campuses. I seek to streamline the process for students and their family by organizational help and time line creation, teacher recommendation letter organization, essay guidance, and application assistance to help facilitate a students analytical processes as he or she considers what is best for learning interests and campus environments. Formerly a high school classroom teacher, my style is casual, fun and low key. Students know that I am available to them at any time and regularly keep in touch with them via texting and even Facebook. Whether a student is seeking tutoring for an academic subject such as English or history, or needs assistance preparing for the ACT and SAT, I tailor my tutoring to meet the students' individual needs. The fact that my students continue to stay in touch and seek out services after they have gone to college attests to the fact that they know I care about helping them make the most of their education.

Basically I use a lot of self-disclosure in my discussions. I put myself in the person's shoes, since I am an AVID SKINNER disciple and subscriber to his philosophies! I also utilize the Maslow's Hierarchies of needs to demonstrate the fulfillment of life to higher degree. That being said, I then put the above techniques to use for the problems and crisis that this individual is encountering at this stage of his or her life. Making a more personal approach to define and hopefully resolve their challenged crisis.
I offer dynamic and transformational counseling for individuals, couples, and families. I use mindfulness-based, somatic, hypnotherapy, transpersonal, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to deal with unwanted patterns or life issues. I come from the perspective that though pain is often inevitable, suffering is not. I have over 25 years of private practice in the Santa Cruz area.
