Let me begin by stating that working with Arya has been a phenomenal experience. I originally discovered him through Yelp one night when I was looking for nearby counselors. He's listed down as a life coach and counselor, but what really caught my eye was his 5.0/5.0 rating and number of reviews (40+ at the time). It's very uncommon for someone to have such a perfect rating alongside a large quantity of reviews. I thought something weird was going on so I decided to send in an application for an intake appointment. To be honest I had low expectations of our meeting. I've met with counselors in the past and they hadn't been super helpful to me. Not to discount their abilities, it just more or less felt they were reading off of a script of sorts or working with me from an emotional distance. Of course there must always be some professionalism in play, I don't expect them to suddenly become my best bud after a session. I just want some recognition that I'm a struggling human being on the same level they are versus a patient to dissect underneath a microscope. So color me surprised when Arya did not act like my past counselors! It genuinely feels like Arya will get in the dirty and grimy pits of your life and sit there alongside with you, yet still providing a personally-catered path to somewhere a little cleaner (more appropriate to label it as possessing more vitality, I don't know my audience so I am avoiding usage of that potentially confusing word). You're never forced to do something uncomfortable, but if you're willing to be scared of trying something new then he'll help you ease into it. He's also a pretty smart dude. He doesn't flaunt it whatsoever, it more so comes off from how knowledgeable and skilled he is in several varied areas. If you're an individual that thinks in a certain way and have trouble adapting your perspective then Arya is great for speaking in terms you will understand. There's no sense of condescension on his part, but rather he completely understands that we all operate in our own unique way. It's like if you're trying to express a certain idea in English to a guy that only speaks Spanish. Arya primarily speaks English but he's also a successful polyglot. I didn't know how much of a welcome blessing it was to finally have someone understand the place I operate from until I met him. This definitely accelerates the process of getting unstuck in certain old habits since he can recognize them and notify me of what's going in without too much confusion flying around. I haven't worked with him extensively on making myself a more desirable worker or starting up businesses so I can't speak from that standpoint. I have worked for several months now on learning how to enjoy life and myself on a deeper level. I had no clue I would be here the first time I met him. I urge you to try out an intake appointment with him. His online presence is decent but it doesn't even hold a candle to his physical presence. It may change your life in a similar way to how it's changing mine.

Scientifically grounded. Emotionally intelligent. Shannon helped me get unstuck. Seeing any counselor at all was a big deal for me. I had bad experiences with them in the past. CIP offers short and long-term outpatient psychotherapy on a sliding-scale fee basis to adults, children, families, and couples who would otherwise be unable to afford such services. For over 30 years, CIP has played a vital role in the continuum of service in Marin County and acts as a safety net for those in need. Last year, CIP provided an agency a total of over 8,000 hours to more than 750 unduplicated clients, 85% of whom did not have Medi-Cal, and 80% of whom had monthly incomes of $2,500 or less. Clients received help with anxiety and depression, divorce and parental stress, issues affecting young children, domestic violence, abuse, and homelessness. More than 18% were children between 6 and 18 years of age.

I founded Be Love Community Counseling to provide safe, healing space for people who have been oppressed, marginalized or have an identity outside of the dominant culture. How much do therapists cost?

If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists. Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
