Introduction: I've been an Independent Audio Engineer for about 15 years. In addition to recording hundreds of bands, I've worked with and learned from amazing producers like Jerry Finn (Blink 182, Green Day, AFI, Alkaline Trio, etc..) and Neal Avron (Yellow Card, New Found Glory, Everclear, etc..). I understand what elements are required to make a great recording and I know how to capture the sounds that my customer's want. Also, I've been told that I'm very good at listening to what my clients are asking for and making it sound exactly they way they want it. Too many engineers are close minded when it comes to recording. I don't work this way. Music is creative and a large part of being creative, is being open and flexible.

I have to say after recording with a few other recording studios here in San diego. I most definitley recommend XYZ studio as #1 choice with out a doubt. He's a one stop shop! He records, can calloborate with you on a whim, & produces your music in a way that when you leave his studio you know you have radio quality sound. Plus his rate just can't be beaten by a studio of his professional quality sound. The dudes recorded huge bands with even the likes of Blink 182. Recordings that he's produced have even made it on the radio such as star 94.1fm. I know cause I work there. My band "New Age Anthem" is super beyond pleased and greatful we found him. You'll enjoy working with him!... Mickey 3 Jammersfield

I've recorded three different musical projects with Sam Boukas, and I would recommend his expertise to anyone. His new studio at XYZ Audio is the best setup yet. The room and gear produce a warm, big and natural sound, and Sam's vibe is a nice mix of professional and relaxed. It's a pleasure to work with him, and my new tracks sound amazing. Boukas is a smart and creative musician, and it's easy to brainstorm ideas with him and get a realistic plan for recording. He has a ton of pro experience and knows what to do with it. In my opinion, Boukas is the best kept secret of the San Diego music scene, and I won't at all be surprised when he doubles his current rates (which are, by the way, competitive and affordable). Two thumbs up and a high-five for Boukas all the way!

I just finished recording and mixing a full CD project with Sam at XYZ Audio. Sam did an outstanding job in all respects. Not only is Sam a complete pro at using ProTools, the plug-ins, mics, etc. he has available but he is also a skilled musician with a great ear for what sounds good. And that's a huge asset when it comes to who's recording your project. XYZ Audio might not be the biggest or fanciest studio in town but you won't be sorry recording there. I'm looking forward to more projects at XYZ Audio in the future.

My experience here at XYZ is the best experience I've had in any studio I've been to. Sam, the owner, is probably the coolest dude my band and I have met. He's very committed to what he does and he makes sure we leave the studio with what we want. The environment is great. Sam always makes sure we have everything the way we want it to be and always makes sure we leave satisfied and we do so everytime. I honestly highly recommend XYZ.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

You don't need to spend a fortune to get a great recording. An experienced engineer should be able to explain to you exactly what factors make the difference between an average recording and a great one.
