FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is pretty simple. I charge $125.00 for elopement services where I meet you with the vows, review the license, help your witness complete it and sign it. I charge $200.00 for a service which requires personalizing vows. A $100.00 deposit is required to secure my services for your wedding date.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
One of the best parts about my job is that my education comes from each of the couples I work with. Requests for sand ceremonies, Native American smudging ceremonies or other rituals or practices give me the opportunity to learn about not only the practices, but about the couples for whom I perform weddings. Once, I was asked to read a Shakespeare sonnet as part of the vows for a wedding in which the groom was an English Literature professor. I took extra time to make sure I was able to present the sonnet well.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
There were two main reasons. When California began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in June 2008, I became ordained in order to be available for my gay friends when they were ready to marry. The second was a wedding I performed for a friend. There were 75 people in attendance at the Mt. Helix Amphitheater. Working with her family and the groom on the wedding procession gave me the confidence to make this into a business.
