I have been working with Megan for several months now and have had a great experience. I have dropped over 23 pounds and over 20 inches. I have knee and sugar issues and Megan has been amazing at helping me plan for a healthy diet with my restrictions and modify exercises as needed for everyone. Thanks to Megan, this is the first time in 5 years my sugars have been in a normal range. She really helps personalize things for all of her clients and has been so flexible with scheduling. I can not thank Megan enough for the amazing impact she has made on my health and fitness goals! I also really appreciate that Megan not only motivates us daily, but she also continues to push herself and expand her knowledge. She has added a nutrition certification and just received her master trainers credential!

Eric is great. Very knowledgable guy who makes hard work fun. Sign up. The system is geared for personal attention, but without the cost of a personal trainer. Nutrition is part of the plan too!!

I asked Lauren to help me with my nutrition to gain weight. She was awesome! She created a meal plan custom for me, gave me an hour long consultation to start, and always checked in every week to see how I was doing. Overall I have been gaining weight and totally recommend her for anyone and whatever their fitness goals are. She is great!

I've been training with Corey just over a month and with his help I'm seeing results I would have never achieved on my own, and in such a short time! Most people gain weight during the holidays, (I typically do) but with Corey's expertise on the right exercises for me and nutritional advice I actually lost 2 sizes! And I actually feel stronger! That says a lot! especially since I have several medical issues including Hasimoto's (hypothyroid). Corey's workouts are challenging and are making a huge difference for me! I couldn't be happier!

I've been working out with Denise for about two months. I've worked out with other trainers and she is by far the best! She is fantastic with workouts that push you and best of all she really knows nutrition which is even more important. She can help you customize a diet that fits your goals. Denise helps me stay on track and is extremely motivating during workouts. I'm so excited to continue my journey with her and see fantastic results!

My experience with Jacobo has been wonderful! Prior to working with Jacobo I had been working out on my own and was making very little progress. However, in the past several months that I have been working with Jacobo I’ve been able to make a great deal of progress. He was able to develop a training method specific to my needs and has been able to work around my busy schedule. He has developed a nutrition program as well as strength and conditioning program that are design to gain the results that I am looking for. He is very knowledgeable and takes pride in his client’s development and success. I am more than happy with my progress and development, I have recommend Jacobo to my closest friends and family.

Andrea King will blow your expectations out of the water. She goes so much farther with fitness then I would have imagined! I have had another personal trainer in the past, and there is no comparison. Andrea is THE Best. She is highly approachable to begin with. Her calm energy makes you feel at ease, as if you can talk to her about anything. She listens to your concerns and what all you want to work on, and will go out of her way to make sure you meet your goals. She develops a fully comprehensive nutrition plan made just for you. That includes allergy restrictions and sensitivities. I don't know other trainers that do that. She also gives you the tools to succeed far after your training with her has ended. Since working with Andrea, I have learned several things about my health and back pain that doctors and physical therapists could never address. I also have learned better time management. My husband and I are both thankful that we chose the real deal.

Brittney is definitely one of the best trainers if not the best trainer I've had in my 4 years of exercising. She takes her time to explain any question and minute detail you may have of exercise movements to proper nutrition. She's the entire package, I definetly recomend her ??.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
