Oscar just came out this last weekend to replace an old, falling down chain link fence. He put up a new, taller fence and added a cement footer. It looks awesome! Made our back yard look so much better, and even added some smooth 9-guage wire to the top to help with our coyote problems! He was very upfront about everything, professional and communicated very well. I will definitely be recommending Oscar and his crew to anyone who has a need for a new fence!

I contacted Mr. Scott Brown for a bid to perform the replacement of my patio cement which was badly cracked. He came to my residence the next day with an estimate that I was very pleased to accept. Mr. Brown started the work within a few days, although, we lost a weeks work due to the winter rains, he kept a tight schedule. The cement work was done perfectly and looks great. While on the job, I had Mr. Brown rebuild my fence gate which looks really nice. I am glad that I chose Custom Creations for my projects.

Al's Fencing was able to completely redo my entire fence in 4 days. They were professional and did a high quality job for a very fair price. They were also gracious in helping my elderly neighbor by offering to also repair her gate. They were extremely kind and thoughtful as they installed my fence. My yard is much safer and I know that fence will last for years to come. I would highly recommend Al's Fencing to anyone in need of any fencing repairs.

Scott did an awesome job for us. He installed a new wood fence as well as enclosing our carport on 3 sides with horizontal slats. He was super easy going, so easy to work with and offered ideas and input along the way. He was extremely reasonable and really cared about the work he was doing. I plan to use him more in the future and 2 of my neighbors are talking with him about their projects. I have total trust in him and would definitely recommend him anytime.

David repaired some sprinkler pipes that we broke. Since we had to wait till the goop dried we couldn't check it out but when we did and a new leak was seen he came out the next day to fix it. Very reasonable price and nice to work with. Will be quoting a fence for me as well.

...But, if I never ran into this guy, I'd have at least a dozen unfinished projects, and a lot of extra bills. I met Taylor in line at Home Depot. I was buying some hardware and some paint. I noticed his cart was stacked with fencing material and being I'm virtually worthless with even basic construction and needing a new fence myself, I asked him what he was working on. We ended up talking for almost 30 min outside and he helped me load my paint into the car. He asked a lot of questions and even had examples of fencing he installed on his phone. I was buying the paint and hardware to repaint and fix my shed door. I couldn't mess THAT up right? Wrong, he offhandedly mentioned that I had purchased an interior paint that would discolor and fade quickly on a shed. Anyway, I had numerous projects that needed to be done. I ended up having Taylor put in an entire new shed, repair my back fence, build me some custom gates, and a many other tasks. I regularly call him with questions and he almost always has an answer. He's a very well-spoken, knowledgeable, and friendly guy. For my wife and I, he's sort of become a regular around the house, we've had him coming over for more than a year. Our four year old son gets so excited when he comes because he always gets to watch. Goodbye Garbage man, Hello Handy man! Thank you Taylor! Hope this helps you. Geoff, Susan, & Alex

Both Moshe and Alex were both understanding and helpful in attending to my construction needs. I recently moved into my first house and needed a dividing fence. My neighbors were great in that we all meet Alex, Moshe and Christian the day of construction. The price was economical for me and my neighbors, so much so that I also hired them to put a mini gate on the side of the house, window gates on the vents of my house, and a mini demolition job on an ill placed planter. Yeah, it was a lot of work, but they worked with my budget and delivered on time and in some instances sooner. The house looks amazing with the custom made bars, the newly created car space, and the fence. Now, my dog can run free on the property and I don’t have to worry about her going into my neighbors yard. Additionally, I had a trespasser a few days before construction of the fence, but I feel more secure about people not thinking they can just walk on my property. My neighbors and I are very happy and pleased with the professional work done by this company. Moshe even offered great suggestions about landscaping for my backyard, which is a bit of a bear at the moment. I’ll be taking him up on the offer to get landscaping assistance in the near future. Seriously, Christian is a wizard at construction and Moshe is a secret creative for sure. I would highly recommend this company to handle your construction needs. I’m already recommending them to my coworkers in the County and friends I know who own properties throughout LA. You won’t be disappointed with the work and the price is good for your budget. I’m cleaning up my backyard on my own, but I can’t wait to work with Moshe and the landscaper, Eran, to help me design a peaceful, zen like backyard. I know it will be a major project, so I’m building up financially and mentally for it. I’m excited to see what they come up with for me. Yes, I’m a very happy client, past and future. Thanks, Moshe, Alex, and Christian 😊!

I've worked with Mike at Premier Tree and Landscape on many projects, such as sod removal and installation, hillside brush clearance, pergola construction, fence replacement, hillside stabilization, retaining walls, tree trimming and removal, new irrigation systems, and complete install of new landscapes for houses. Mike is always professional, hard working, and charges a fair amount for his work. He has excellent ideas for landscape design, plant selection, and ways to keep costs down if necessary. I highly recommend Premier Tree and Landscape.

This was a fence installation and repair job. Chris responded very quickly to the service request. Although he showed up on time Chris was polite and professional. He fixed the broken door handle in 30 minutes. Charged the 3-hour minimum labor fee (perfectly reasonable) and left an itemized receipt and his business card. Will use Chris Handyman & Cleaning LA again.

Juan called a few days later to make sure we were happy with the job, and we most certainly are. I would not hesitate to call him again for anything else we need. We have a few more home projects in the future and we will be calling Three J's again! Excellent service

You will not have any regrets if you hire him. He's built a fence and gate for me, cleaned out and repaired leaky rain gutters, repaired broken woodwork, and painted.

Frankie was very clear in what work he was going to do on my duplex. I needed to have a couple of doors replaced and part of my wooden fence fixed. He wrote up a quote detailing out the pricing and even picked up supplies for me. I found the transaction quite simple and his work was very detailed oriented! Especially given that one of the doors was probably installed back in the 1950's and had issues with framing which he needed to resolve. I will definitely be considering him for future projects that I have.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
    • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
    • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
    • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

    • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
    • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
    • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
    • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
    • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
    • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
    • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
    • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
