Coach Leaonard has coached my daughter for approximately 5 years, throughout which time I have been highly impressed with his patience and the order in which he relates to the children. He has managed to maintain a level of professionalism and respect from the kids, while making it fun for them, which keeps their interest. He has mastered a no nonsense, stern approach without being a turnoff to the kids. Coach has also shared life lessons with my daughter without infringing on personal space, which would risk making her feel uncomfortable. This added personal touch makes Coach exceptional in my opinion.

Coach Leonard encouraged me to play tennis after my cancer battle and gave me private lessons as I slowly regained my strength. When he thought I could keep up with a class, he encouraged me to "upgrade" to classes. When he thought I could play on a team, he encouraged me to go for it! Coach Leonard was supportive and encouraging during a tough time and I'm very grateful for that. It takes one type of person to teach the basics, and another to teach with the know how of how to teach EACH person individually or in a group and the care of their individual goals. Coach Leonard is the latter... Thanks Coach Leonard! :)

Coach Leonard is a outstanding professor of the game. My son and I took lessons for close to 4 years at Gensta park in Encino. He was very patient and persistent in his efforts to improve both of us and all his students.We miss him much here in Encino.

Coach Johson approaches the lesson in a very formulatic way. He input inciteful and well schooled. I highly recommend his work for any level player. Great with kids. Very patient.

I changed to Leonard when I realized by previous teacher always told me what I was doing wrong. Leonard always told me what I was doing right. When his positive comments were too much (YES, i said too much), he offered me a life lesson I will never forget. He is the best tennis teacher ever and I won a lovely trophy to boot. When my work schedule changed, I had to stop. :-(

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. There is a World Conference on tennis every year. I have attened almost every year since my certification. I also get local training.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been involved in tennis for over 40 years. In 1998 I looked into the possibility of teaching as a USPTA certified instructor. I never expected to become so passionate about it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Working with experienced players on specialty shots, point construction, footwork/balance, court position, etc. Working with beginners on basic fundamentals, stroke production, and basic fun games.
