Hired Maverick Consulting for the edit of my non-fiction book. Very personable and even met with me in person. Edits and comments were easy to understand and helped improve the flow of the book. Edits were given in a timely manner. Communication was continuous even after the editing work was completed. Feedback was given as way to improve the overall flow and quality of the book. Very reasonable rates for the amount of work on manuscript. Definitely recommend Maverick Consulting for your literary work!

Carl was hired to teach Hebrew to my daughter who is in Kindergarten as well as to teach my husband and I Hebrew. Carl is a very dedicated professional that has a true gift at teaching. He makes the lessons fun and teaches in a way that keeps the learner engaged the entire lesson and always excited about learning more. This would not normally be an easy task while teaching a 5 year old, however Carl makes it look easy. Our daughter looks forward to Carls's weekly visits, as do we. Carl even went out of his way to find a special Hebrew educational book for my husband (who already speaks pretty decent Hebrew- but wanted to learn more). I would highly recommend Carl for any tutoring, writing, or editing services you may need.

We had our last-minute family portraits taken a few days ago. Belle and Sam were flexible in helping us with our portraits given that it was a last-minute request. We wanted to get our portraits taken for our Christmas cards, and realized that we were a tad behind in getting organized. We're glad that we found Belle and Sam Studios to help us. We are very pleased with their welcoming demeanor and friendliness. They made us feel very comfortable with various poses and we didn't feel awkward at all. They were also very accommodating with the different locations that we chose and our outfit changes. We wanted to make sure that we got a variety of backgrounds, locations and outfits so that we can choose several final shots for the final Christmas card. We also brought our dog, a labarador retriever. And one will know that it can be difficult to take pictures of dogs and with dogs. Sometimes our dog can be full of energy and we have to take breaks here and there to give our dog some playtime and rest. Belle and Sam were very accommodating with our dog and our dog became really friendly with them. They gave us good directions and made sure that all of us were comfortable and that even our dog who is very precious to us was given celebrity status! We just received our pictures through the online gallery within the timeline that they gave us, and we are very pleased with the results. Their website was easy to navigate and looks very refreshing. We were able to download all of the pictures at the same time. We also tried downloading the pictures one by one, and it worked just fine. I am excited to make our Christmas cards as this is our first Christmas with our new dog. We want to send our Christmas cards with our family and friends, and I think we'll make it just in time for Christmas! My wife and I are very happy with our experience and the pictures came out really well. We will highly recommend them to our friends and family and to anyone who wish to have a personalized photo shoot. This was our first time to have a family photo shoot and we'll be doing another one with them next year! Wishing Belle and Sam well for the next coming year! Merry Christmas!

Skip took on a job that was pretty big and what made matters worse, a person that had just neglected the fundamentals of writing. It's not that I don't know them, I was just too lazy to apply them the way they should be. He reminded me of it. I asked him to be brutally honest and he was. The wonderful thing about him, he later pointed out the good things I was doing right and eventually made my confidence skyrocket. The job your asking me to describe is not only Skip helping me with the book I am working on, but him guiding me and restoring my confidence to get me back in the fight after being knocked down by life, people and dare I say editors and publishers. He made me realize putting forth my best effort in a world that is so competitive is just too important to forget. You ask what went well with Skip? Everything, but what stood out the most was his honesty and clarity of various situations and problems. The quality of his work and guidance is excellent and I couldn't ask for any better advisor. Nothing could improve my experience with him, that's how impressed I am with him. Thanks Skip and I look forward to continuing to work with you. Sincerely, Jeffrey L. Ivory

Our company needed a copy editor to review a soon-to-be-published book. Stephanie was very quick, fairly-priced, professional, and detail-oriented. Not only did she catch errors, but she suggested intelligent changes that our writer hadn't thought of. Our firm's professional writer even commended her editing skills, and asked if we could use her again to edit future corporate articles. I highly recommend Stephanie, and hope that we will have many chances to use her editing services again!

BWA Design was the first to respond to my request for a book designer. However, his skills and abilities weren't what I was looking for as far as a book. If I needed someone to create flyers, banners, logos or websites, he will be my first contact.

Arezoo has been great throughout the design process. She is extremely responsive to all my emails and is incredibly reasonable in her costs. In fact, we would spend an hour going back and forth during our meetings throughout the design process and she wouldn't even charge me! And the final product -- a book proposal filled with graphics, photographs, quotes, and unique formatting -- looks great! She listened carefully to my input and nailed the graphic aesthetic I wanted for the proposal.

Emily provided two complete edits to my first book. She was professional, timely and very reasonable in her fees. She not only provided invaluable grammatical insights--she also gave me great insights on the overall readability of certain topics. I will use Emily should I write another book and would recommend her to anyone. She is a consummate professional and encouraged me throughout the entire process. Amy is all about focus. That's what I gained from working with her on several different writing projects: a better understanding of how to focus my work. Amy cares about the unity and clarity of the final product, and she's passionate and thorough in her guidance toward those ends. With Amy, you're asked to consider what each sentence adds to the whole. She hates waste and has a keen eye for it. Through working with her, I've developed a better sense of writing as communication - how to get an idea across, how different readers will interpret different words and concepts, how editors and publishers will judge writing in ways the novice writer might not be prepared for. I think of myself as a more astute writer for Amy's guidance, with a clearer understanding of the place my writing can have in the world. But the best thing about working with Amy is getting to discuss writing with someone who cares about the craft in a more than superficial way. Amy isn't just a teacher; she's a scholar and a stylist, a creator and a critic. Her knowledge and interests cover a wide range of topics and disciplines, and she brings that rounded background to bear on each project she takes on. I'm lucky to have had her in my corner.

Shaula is a professional and highly competent editor. I send everything I write to her, be it chapters of my novel, posts to my blog and even sometimes verbose emails. Her attention to detail is astounding and she not only proofreads exceptionally well, she also focuses on content and readability. She poses questions and comments on the things that work and the things that don't. Having a vast knowledge of literature and books, this makes her an excellent source to also bounce ideas of of, if one is worried about flow or plot problems. She can think it through and give her feedback. Shaula is more than just a proofreader, she's an editor. And she's the best one I've ever used!

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

        • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
        • Strong writing skills.
        • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
        • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
        • Expertise in your target area.
        • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

        • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
        • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
