I have a unique experience, having performed music all over the world, in festivals, on TV, and have a long history of teaching. I'm different in that I have traditional training, but embrace new music technology and the new musical world of the internet age. I love to teach my students in a new way that I feel is neglected in modern music education. Namely, focusing on groove and rhythm, and utilizing new technology with old traditions.

Its been such a delight to learn bass from Kellen! He's super patient and is a good teacher. He's able to hone in on things to improve upon in a way that encourages you to learn and build your skill set. Kellen can teach you any song from any genre just by listening. He also teaches you key songs that compliment your training so that everything starts to make sense. Even though I am only a beginner I can see how advanced bassists can probably learn things from him as well. He's a keeper. Hire Kellen, he's dope!

Kellen's an awesome teacher. He has a very sharp ear and plays the bass like it's effortless. He'll figure out a bass line within seconds, be able to teach it right away and explain the theory behind why it sounds the way it does. Amazing teacher. I take skype lessons with him and i've never had a better teacher. At first I was skeptical about skype lessons because I thought I wouldn't get the same experience as a one on one lesson in person, but I was wrong. The lessons are great and personalized and I really feel like I'm heading in a better direction working with Kellen.

I researched bass lessons online aiming to find a local teacher, but Kellen’s profile stood out to me. I decided to give one of his skype lessons a try to see how it worked. I was pleasantly surprised! Learning by skype is much easier than I anticipated. Plus, it helps that Kellen is a great teacher. His methodical way of teaching has let me accelerate much faster than I anticipated.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rates are $60/hr or $40/half hour
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a first free lesson, so students can see if lessons with me are the right fit for them. I like to start with what the student is attracted to about music (say a favorite song) then work back to learning about harmony, groove, technology, etc. from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from William Paterson University. Since graduating I have been gigging professionally for the last 12 years.
